The cover looks so sick!

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/02/07/oxm-uk-teases-skyrim-cover-story/

That must be the best Skyrim cover so far.

I like the sound of what I've heard (Save for the acrobatic nonsense). Especially optimistic about the fact they're drawing inspiration from Shivering Isles, that was an incredibly interesting and well-done environment.

Page 39 - 2 new screenshots here, we see a hooded stealth character performing a stealth execution (Assassin's Creed style, blade to the chest up close). We see a new dungeon called the 'Hall of Stories' which features a locked door and a puzzle to open it. Stonework looks fantastic with spider webbing across the walls.

I wanna see this one!.

Must be gathered from different places around the world. Not gained from killing Dragons. I figure it will be like what Hlvr said a few posts above me. Basically slaying dragons and absorbing their souls would kind of be like increasing your "dragon shout skill"
-I'm not saying there is a dragon shout skill I'm using that as a anology-
then you learn the shouts themselves by finding the ancient texts. Like the spell tomes from Oblivon almost.

I was under the impression that you learned the Shouts from texts and runes and from slaying incredibly powerful dragons,

And that each time you used a shout it required threee words. To say these words of power you need a dragon soul, so for every Juvenile dragons you get the ability to use one shout. Bigger mroe powerful dragons give a higher soul material (or something) and so a Great Wyrm would be like I dunno 50.

So to simplify all that souls fuel your ability to use shoutss, but are learned in special cases or from specila people/creatures.

It sounds like you're saying the souls are almost functioning like ammo for the shouts, which would be really disappointing.

It's in the GameInformer article on Skyrim, and online at Gamereactor's website.

Haha, how do you even know this is skyrim? Did you just go on Google Images and type Skyrim Screens and pic the first one?

This looks like a old CryEngine project.

Well why else would you gather the souls.

There are 20 shouts, so unless there are actually far fewer dragons and everytime you collect 3 souls of a certain type you learn a new shout then how else would they work?

Well you could need, 10 to learn teh first, the say 25 to learn the second, then 100 to learn the next, But that would eb even more tedious.

Yes the ammo idea sounds bad, but I could defintely seeing it work, if younger, Juvenile dragons, and hatchling, up to Young advlts are as common as they seem to be, Which is uncommon but not liek most Fantasy universes where any Dragon is completely rare.

Hopefully we all enjoy the system that Beth comes up with, of course some wont like it but I expect that it should work out in the end.

Hold on a second... Is this information actually from the OXM magazine? http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=25625 They also said there's never-before-seen screenshots in it.

I'm taking a leap of faith with news of telekinesis and talk of bioshock influence makes me wet my self, that and the force push will be awesome, I think there's a concept peice of a dragon using this shout on two guards. I'm wondering how many are paint overs I think the bear stood over the mammoth kill is, and the dragon shout one I mentioned is.

Do we even have proof that this is an ingame screen and not concept art? I know they said that the screens were in game but everyone makes mistakes and it looks very different from the other pics, besides the fact it is mainly green :P

On Dragonshouts, I always thought there were 20 dragons you can kill to learn shouts, some would be quest related but most of them not (Hopefully there are more than 20 dragons but that seems like an ok amount of dragons that will always be in specific locations). After killing the dragon you gain a new shout, which is at the basic level 1 (Only 1 word spoken). To increase it to level 2 and then 3 you have to find the ruins that add additional words.

Because the whole ammo thing is just stupid.

A couple of things to consider:

Being an Xbox 360 owner myself, it was rather easy to identify that the current screen shots we have of Skyrim were taken from 360 settings at least.

Secondly, it is quite likely these screen shots we do have of Skyrim from GI and others are rather old. My reason for saying this is because the http://www.gameinformer.com/p/esv.aspx makes use of a screen shot taken in late 2009. It's very likely the rest that were given to Game Informer are just as old and the game would have likely gone through quite a few builds and changes since then.

Not really anything new, but nice to hear about information being released regardless.

So to simplify all that souls fuel your ability to use shoutss, but are learned in special cases or from specila people/creatures.

I could see you also learning some shouts with dragons considering dragons will have voice actors. I doubt that's just for the shouts. And If I recall correctly one of the international magazines confirmed talking to a dragon at one point. But I don't remember which.

This OXM UK magazine also says each shout has their own cool down timer. So, I don't think killing dragons is like re-filling your dragon shout meter. But then again this magazine also says killing them gives you shouts which is a conflicting report so I don't know what to think really.

Basically it's at the point now where I don't really believe any of the information we have until I see it on the Official Elder Scrolls website. Or is directly quoted from a employee of gamesas or BGS.

Ah, thank you for posting! =)
Some really nice info. there. Especially about the animal AI and hand-crafted areas.
It sounds better and better already! =D (And I think the graphics of the NPC's and dragons are great!)
If they improve the 3rd-person camera to allow us to combat in 3rd-person, this game is an immediate instant buy for my birthday in November. :celebration:

Since I am not subscribed to OXM, I'm really curious as to how developed the stealth kill looked.

Anything near AC-caliber?

The Shivering Isles gave them inspiration now that's cool.

Good info, the thing about the Axe perk is pretty sick and almost guarantees an M rating.
