The post above my last post mentioned that the speaker stated they wont be doing large expansion packs because it took to long to release.

Well they are going to do DLC, Pete just said not the same scale as Shivering Isles. That means we could get a lot of DLC and not have to wait a while for it. Should be a nice, steady release.

Except a multitude of DLC is by and large not nearly a satisfying whole as compared to a full-fledged expansion. I'll understand if they make more sustainable profit with DLC, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

No expansion and just DLCs?
That doesn't sound good to me.

An expansion is much... more... of everything.
If a DLC is only a quest or so, then I won't buy it. Too small for me to buy.
I want new landscapes and areas, new places to visit. If a DLC can contain that, then maybe.
But if not, then no.

The main idea of the podcast was about DLC's....They like releasing DLC's but they say expansions take to long to release so..im not sure what to think about that  they also shined on modders as well :D

I felt the love when he stated that they know they havent explored all of Tamriel, and that there is so much more they can do with the Continent <3 :tes:

Thanks, listening now! A transcript would take too long (26:30 of audio), but I'll post any new info as I hear it, if no one beats me to it.

PS: Have to try the new emoticon! :tes:

Are they comparable in overall size, scope, level of detail, length of experience, and powerful meaning as something like Tribunal, Bloodmoon, or Shivering Isles?

Small summary:
  • DLC's sell really well, so we can expect DLC for Skyrim. They won't make content that is as large as Shivering Isles was, because it takes too much time to create. Too long for the players to wait.

Makes me sad :( In my opinion Shivering Isles in one of the very best DLC/expanssion pack I've ever played! It was completly different from Oblivion and acctually added many, many, many new hours of gameplay. Even tho Oblivion was exelent in my eyes, Shivering Isles was equaly good only with a new style. Yes we waited a long time for SI, but then again it did add many new hours of gameplay. It was totaly worth the wait in my eyes, but Bethesda probly didnt make enough money on it.

Shivering Isles is one of the finest DLC's ever made.

Not a lot of info in this podcast, it was asking more about how the team works and what they do and less about the game itself and what it will be like.

It was a pretty generic interview. Sounded like intreviewers were trying too hard to avoid the obvious relevant questions.
Next one with Todd Howard should have a lower score at irrelevancy.

yes

Well I'm at the disadvantage of having not played them, but just looking at number of quests and number of locations...
Broken Steel: 9 total quests, 14 new locations (added bonus of raising level cap).
The Pitt: 6 total quests, 16 new locations
Point Lookout: 11 total quests, 44 new locations

Tribunal: 38 total quests, 25 new listed locations
Bloodmoon: 44 total quests, 65 new listed locations
Shivering Isles: 39 total quests, 56 new locations

Of course, quests and locations aren't the end-all-be-all of what makes something worthwhile, but still...
If they want to make expansions and call them DLC, that's fine, and if that's what things like The Pitt, Broken Steel, and Point Lookout are, ok. But something tells me those three are not exactly what I think of when I hear 'comparable to an expansion.'

Why does it bode well for Brink.

The best part of the podcast was the end when Pete said "when it's all said and done, we'll do Skyrim justice." That just sounds awesome!

I've only played vanilla Fallout without any DLC.
I was going to mention Point Lookout though in my reply, but decided not to.
But based on what it seems, Point Lookout is what I would want.

As long as it seems interesting and has some new unique land, I'd buy it. I only bought all the Oblivion DLC because I was so hardcoe...
Might not do the same for Skyrim. But I never know. It's probable I might buy every possible DLC for Skyrim just because I love Bethesda and TES.

But I doubt a lot of other people would buy small things like a new dungeon or two, or a quest or a castle. That's definitely not worth it unless you're a hardcoe fan, imo.
