I would not be surprised if TES VI was announced in 2017. But I would be very surprised if TES VI was released in 2017.
Michael Pachter is the equivalent of Quartermann from old EGM.
I'd be very surprised if they announced TES VI in 2017 since they did that in 2016 already.
No but really, official reveal etc in 2017 - despite that they've said they have two other games in line first, and that Todd's said he'd keep the time between announcement and release shorter than it was with FO4 if he could?
Pete Hines said on his Twitter account that Michael Pachter is wrong. Just go look for Pete Hines Tweet about it.
Not only has Bethesda said (very clearly, many times) that they are focusing on other projects before TES 6, Pete Hines also tweeted that Pachter was completely wrong.

There we go you found the Tweet I was talking about.
Ballowers, Pluto - the point is that Pachter guesses against the official word from Bethesda, and the subject for discussion is why. As I see it there are three alternatives: 1) He doesn't have a clue; 2) He's adding this guess at the end to draw attention to himself and spark controversy; or 3) He's heard something from his anolyst buddies which hasn't made the rounds in the news.
Incidentally, Pluto - why did you change the subject line? I think we should be very careful about labelling this a rumor, or it will soon become one. At this point in time it's merely speculation from a single anolyst.
A rumor tends to have some backing, though. Whether it be supposed leaks, patents, or some other information that claims to be from a reliable source. Pachter's speculation is for all intents and purposes just a guess, or wishlist. He just says it'll happen and gives no indication of why or how it's a possibility, but we do have multiple direct statements saying just the opposite. If he has information that no one's reported on yet to give legitimacy to the claim, it'd be nice for him to reveal it.
We need to work on terminology again. A rumor for me is a claim something is about to happen or has happened which is making the rounds among people without having an identifiable source to help assess whether its correct or not. This isn't that, but could very well soon turn in to one if we have mods at Bethesda's official forum labelling a TES VI 2017 release a rumor. It's NOT a rumor. It's merely a guess from Pachter's side, and as far we know not a very educated one at that.
I can't really see Todd jumping out at E3 calling "fooled you!", which is essentially what has to happen for Pachter to be on the money here. But when we had Bethesda's integrity up for discussion a few weeks ago several people claimed (without being able to prove it) that they're "always lying" about what they're working on, and that there wasn't necessarily any value to what they've said. I strongly doubt this is the case, but I have to give them that there is something fishy about their statements this time around since they contradict themselves. Todd referred to TES6 as an active project in February, said they're "doing it" in June, after which Hines entered the discussion July and claimed it's not in development and that Todd only meant they would do it later. Odd - but not X Files odd.
