AI Package Crash

Post » Wed Jan 12, 2011 8:01 pm

Been trying to do the Quest and Dialog tutorial from the gamesas site (http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/Quest_and_Dialogue_Tutorial). However every time I try to do anything to the ai packages, geck crashes. I've tried running in compatibility mode, tried reinstalling, patching to 1.5. I've seen others have the same problems but I haven't seen any solutions, I don't know what else to do, any ideas?

thanks in advance,

mart

Do you mean every time you select the packages section of the GECK and see all of the packages listed in the right hand column, or, when you double click a package individually and it opens?

The window from character/packages opens but if i try to select any packages from that window it crashes as soon as i click on it.

Anyone? I'd really like the opportunity to do some quest modding and without this feature, it's kinda impossible.

What happens if you go to the AI package list in the object window and scroll down that list such that you view every package in the game. What I mean is look at all the AI packages from the object window and scroll from the top down to the bottom. Does the Geck crash if you do this? If so, I can tell you that you have a corrupt AI package somewhere and you would need to remove it with a tool like FO3Edit. If this is the case then the most likely culprit would be an AI package that you have recently made. Another option would be to restore one of the backups of your mod that the Geck saves in the \Backup folder. The Geck will save your last 10 versions, so you can try to rename the backup version to a valid esp name and then move it into your data folder and try loading it in the Geck and see if the problem still persists. Make a backup of your current ESP first before you do this just in case.

I can open up character/packages, scroll all the way down and no problem. Though if i click on anything in that window i'll get a crash. I haven't even started to make a mod yet and the only thing i have loaded into geck is the fallout3.esm.

Where did you see others with this problem? I have never heard of it quite like this before. You have your game patched to 1.7? I see the Geck is patched to 1.5 from your other post. I feel for you, but honestly, I have no idea.

After loading the Geck with Fallout3.esm, try to make a mod by clicking the save button, and then entering a name for your new mod. Then exit the Geck and load that new empty mod by setting it as the Active File under File --> Data. You still get the crash? I'm just guessing here.

Sorry for the slow reply. Well I had found http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=161203&st=0&p=1381441&hl=ai%20package%20crash&fromsearch=1&#entry1381441, now i realize it's from the CS, but it's the exact problem I've been having. And yes i tried making a new mod, restarted using it as active, but no luck either.
