Package delivery idiocy

Post » Wed Apr 02, 2014 11:42 am

So I bought something on amazon and paid for next day delivery, I wish i checked to see if there was a way to tell who was deliverying my order because I should have known better that it would be the [censored]tiest delivery company ever. UPS. I spent $30 on the next day delivery and they don't deliver the damn package, instead they leave an idiotic note that says I wasn't there. OF COURSE I WASN'T THERE I HAVE A JOB! Even a people with regular shedule jobs can't be there to answer the door when they deliver. I am scheduled for 10 hour, odd time, shifts (which of late actually turn out to be 12-14hr shifts). I will literally NEVER be there when they knock on my door.

I always have this issue with UPS, why they can't get it through to their mouth breathing brains to just leave the package at the door is just rage inducing. Especially today, when I paid $30 for it to BE there when i get home. There is no acceptable excuse to just to not deliver a next day package. This time they did leave some flier that says something about signing up online to set my own schedule, tried using it but it said I was "not eligable"... WTF does that mean? The point is moot any ways because they don't deliver between 10pm and 3am, which would be the time in which I would be available to answer the damn door.

... any ways. what are some delivery service woes you have experienced?

Don't worry. Soon, your packages will be handled by cold, calculating, logical drones.

Drones everywhere.

You probably were there when they came to deliver your package, you just didn't hear them lightly rubbing their hand against the door.

UPS left a PS4 at my brother's girl friend's front door. She lives in a pretty sketchy part of town too. PS4's are really hard to come by as well.

I'm surprised it wasn't stolen. He clearly asked them they if they would leave it at the front door as they have in the past and he was worried they'd do the same with his PS4. The UPS service rep was insulted and said they'd never do such a thing. They also left my 3000$ custom built computer, not only outside, they left it on my neighbors driveway. Amazing.

Reason for not leaving it at the door is cause sometimes, they need your signature... Which I find is really stupid honestly.

FYI: Ye' not there, ye' not sign. Therefore, ye' not get de' item.

i know why they do it, im just saying its moronic. Sure if they leave it unattended there is a remote chance that it will be stolen and i won't recieve the package. However if they never deliver the package there is a 100% chance i won't recieve the package.

I should also note that the paper should say they will try 2 more times before stopping the delivery. After that, they will hold your package for a week. During which time, you can go to them to pick it up on your own. If you don't, they send it back to sender.

If the paper never said anything like that and doesn't give you the chance to go pick it up on your time, then you can take them to court for not obeying their own rules and screwing you in the end.

it did say that, but your missing the point. I will never be there regardless of how many times they try to deliver. further more, I spent a crap ton in delivery to get it there right away. I don't give a flying [censored] if my apartment is on fire when they show up, just leave the damn package.

I swear to god if I have to drive all the way to redmond i am going to raise holy [censored] hell at every one there. I will ruin their day so help me. Thats like $60 in gas.

If I was you, I would totally take their stupidity to court and really raise some crap for them... Or at least demand a refund on the delivery price.

Cause that is pretty much bullcrap.

When I built my computer back in 2012, I had the same exact same thing happen to me. All my parts ended up next door in my parents garage >< I mean, my place is literally 10 feet away, and clearly has my address marked on the outside in big black numbers, and they still left it over there.

Course, even worse was the time I ordered a replacement part for my old computer and they left it outside in the pouring damn rain with nothing but a thing plastic sheet over top of it that was about 2 seconds away from being blown off of it when I found the damn thing.

Now FedEx, them I respect. They've been delivering a medicated pain cream(apparently because it has Ketamine in it, they can't just leave it), and buddy they don't mess around. I was sleeping and all of a sudden I was jolted awake by this super loud pounding on my front door. I guess they realized it was only 8:30 in the morning and that we were likely asleep, so they knew they had to knock really hard/loud. I was quite happy about that, lol.

I don't have grounds to take it to court. but if i do have to drive to their delivery warehouse place I will spray on them the full force of my neatly kept in check psychotic tendacies until they refund the next day shipping cost.

If they do leave it at your door there's a chance a sneaky underhanded neighbor stealing your package---its happened.

And this is why I wish they'd require signatures more often on larger ticket items. I recently purchased a $400 leather jacket, and a few days later found it on my doorstep when I returned home from work. This really annoyed me...more so than had they required my signature, leaving me to go pick it up at their facility.

Honestly, picking it up at their facility is a minor inconvenience, and far better than having your package potentially stolen off your doorstep while you are not home.

I swear that in my neighborhood no one has ever signed for a UPS package. I see them all the time and they just walk up to the door knock and leave the package.
