I'm a Paladin, so how would I justify...

Going through the Dragonborn Quest line? In my opinion, it's just a Daedric quest for Hermaeus Mora.

Ahem, I am getting a head of myself here a bit.

One of the rules for my Paladin role playing is that, unless the Daedric Prince is "Good" (well, not Evil like Meridia), he can't do Daedric quests, because most Daedric princes are evil, or at the very lest, chaotic neutral.

And, as previously stated, the Dragonborn Quest is basically a Daedric quest. And Hermaeus Mora isn't a good prince. I must do at least one evil deed in order to progress through it, and that is unacceptable for my Paladin. Is there a logical justification for a Paladin to do it?

I plan on doing the main quest for Skyrim eventually, to vanquish evil like my Paladin does. And I do like the DB Quest line, I just don't like the fact that I can't seem to find a way for my Paladin to venture through it when the time comes.

Excuse me if this is not the right section for this topic.

That would be tough IMO, when you get to the point where you are sent to the Skaal village by Herma Mora and have to be pep talked by Neloth that would probably be the breaking pont. Shouting at the stones and freeing people is one thing but to actively carry out his orders which result in a death... Nasty bit of business there.

The ends justify the means (Was that backwards?)? Very difficult question.

Then your paladin gets a hard lesson on the failings of moral inflexibility. :)

The same justification the equally anti-daedric Skaal use: it's the only way to stop Miraak. Hermaeus Mora is bad, but Miraak having full power is a lot worse for the people of Solstheim. The 'evil deed' you have to commit is one sacrifice to save every last Dunmer, Nord, and Reikling on the island from becoming Miraak's slaves.

Logic for it is this: He's trying to cage Miraak in Apocrypha and doesn't know his actions will lead to a death. At this point to do so he is having to make a 'deal with the devil' so to speak. After that point there would be an urgency to finish up this business as soon as possible, get off Solstheim and away from Herma Mora. A quest to cleanse himself after that would be in order like for instance help a certain number of peope or go to the Shrine of Boethia to get rid of the Daedra worshippers there.

Edit: It's actually what happened to me. When it came to my attention the LDB would most likely be seduced or at least 'tainted' by Herma Mora I couldn't leave him any longer on Solstheim and immediately returned him to the mainland. The disgust I had for this outcome 'Like Shivering Isles which when i return to OB I won't do and have never done' for my first character wouldn't allow me to stay. I may return there one day but that is not certain. I stayed only long enough to finish off Miraak then got the hell out of Dodge. Fortunately I had already done a lot of content on the island.

Fascinating take on the morality issue here. I'll think more about this between where my character is at and then. Almost finished with the Dawnguard quest line.
