Paladin of Talos

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 8:22 am

So Talos was a warrior I know that much, wouldnt be to far fetched to have restoration as one of his blessings. But what code of honor?

I just finished the beginning and am at Riverwood, havent picked a lock or attacked anything that hadnt attacked me first.

So community help me out, how should I RP this guy a servant of Talos.

However you think you should play it.

Though you will quickly find that with the limited ways to answer NPCs you won't be able to stick to any type of character. And everything in the wild for the most part is KoS.

Understandable, and regrettable for sure.

But Im talking what skills should I use? Who should I side with? Things of that nature. So far its heavy armor, one handed swords, shield and restoration. Speech obviously will be
something I want to get high up also since Paladins should be cheeky.

Well if you are wanting to play as a servant of Talos you have only the option to side with the Stormcloaks. The reason is Talos is who the Nords worshipped, and the worship of Talos is what was outlawed by the Altmer. It's the whole base of the civil war.

And or course most Paladins are going to be a heavy armor tank style healing class. Though light armor can get you to the cap as well so if you like the look more than the heavy armor go with Light Armor. I think the Glass Armor would look on a paladin character just has the shiny look to it.

Right thats what I thought, so start through the main quest then join the stormcloaks as soon as possible.

I would probably go through the Stormcloak stuff before the MQ line if you are looking to RP a character. Though at least go through and find out you are Dragonborn first, so you can start getting Words of Power.

The Thalmor should probably be KoS for a Paladin of Talos.

For some reason I want him to have a huge, 2-handed hammer.

*edit* Also, I agree with KoS for the Thalmor... though that could make the Markarth Keep an interesting experience...

Already done, since i found one of them outside of a shrine of talos where EVERYONE was slaughtered. I killed them in kind, though the fight was horribly hard haha.

Well I could count not killing or attacking them on the fact Im respecting the Jarl's rule.

What do I do with Lydia though, is she a follower of Talos? hehe

Well, it isn't clear who she worships, but she definitely isn't a Thalmor (Thalmorian?). Maybe you could just barely tolerate her presence while harboring a deep resentment for her wishy-washy stance on the current political situation.

Talos? We don't worship him anymore :nono:

(At least, not until the Second Great War is won by the Empire anyway).

But yeah, not uch to say. Stormcloak, heavy armour, sword and board or 2h sword, maybe some restoration. That's it.

Something like http://skyrimcalculator.com/#17672 wouldn't be bad either.

I made room for Alchemy for my personal preference and its a bit heavier on the melee combat.

Wrong.

Alchemy, Sneak, Archery... what?
That's NOT a paladin! >_>

OT:
Well, there are more ways you cam make a paladin in Skyrim, but in case you wish to be a Talos-like paladin, then I suggest that you go for Heavy Armor, OHW (specialize in swords) and Restoration.
You can freely use any Shout since he was a Dragonborn himself also.
Also, play as a Nord.

Well, I hope that helps!

And for the love of Sithis, don't end up wearing Deadric stuff! >_>

Edit:
I would personally go for something like http://skyrimcalculator.com/#17693 in your case (would use steel stuff since they somehow seem most fitting; also, Skyforge Steel weapons are pretty damn strong, you don't have to worry about being weak).
Oh, and Speech is there just to make you look more like a charismatic leader. ;)
You can place rest of perks into Conjuration so you get access to banishing spells (they seem enough paladin-like spells to me).

I HATE alchemy haha.

I spend 15 hours collecting ingredients then gain one point of skill haha!

No Ive got sword and board, resto and heavy armor so far. With a secondary of speech.

So far its working out OK, on expert level and its hard haha. Im broke as a joke.

Made armor for Lydia and having her follow me for now, not sure how long for though. Shes so annoying.

Going left on the smithing tree to Steel Plate, which I think is very paladin like.

Do you think a paladin would join the Companions? They seem VERY VERY mercenary like.

Well, if you're a paladin of Talos you'll probably want to avoid using fast travel much. You can encounter a lot of Thalmor who need killing while traveling overland.

My paladin of Talos uses a twohanded hammer, heavy armor and restoration. She also dabbles in blacksmithing and enchanting (although I roleplay it as blessing the armor rather then using soulgems).
She joined the companions up to a certain point, will join the mages to learn more about restoration but will not become archmage, and obviously won't join the two other guilds. Thalmor are KoS, she won't help Deadra, but will cooperate with other servants of the nine and help them do their quests. She never kills unless provoked, won't sneak or steal. Looting enemies is fine though. She always gives to the poor, not just money, but will also drop food and fur armor (nice and warm) off at known beggar haunts for charity.
She will help those in need and defend those who can't defend themselves.

She doesn't have Lydia along (I don't like her) and adventuring alone, although once she finds a certain priest of Mara she might take him along. Not sure what the rules on marriage are, but if she does get married it will be someone she's spent a lot of time with and who is honorable.

She won't wear or use Deadric, but Dragonbone should be fine. I might stick with Ebony though because it looks good. at the moment she wears Dwarven.

I'm not that far with her, level 14, 20 or so hours played. I'll see how it goes. So far she's a lot of fun though, but I sometimes miss having a ranged attack.

It depends, and this is a difficult question to answer. I think most Paladins would steer clear once they ran into the Silver Hand and would not continue down that path. However, due to the outcome of the questline, this could be a trial overcome by your character who had 'fallen' into temptation but redeemed themselves (and others) in the end. I think that this could be a possible choice for a Paladin, but it would need to be very early in their adventures, probably one of the first things they do.

Should an ANCIENT FREAKING DRAGON really appear at level 10?!?

I hear the wings, turn to see the dust and a huge dragon land. All wierd colored like, and I put my shield up! Of course I do!

Then he breathes and I see "Ancient Dragon" over his name.

I die in about 2 seconds...

True.
Still, they don't seem to be kind who will take evil jobs like bandits would.
Also, you should avoid becoming a werewolf (I've heard a rumor that you can't continue Companions quest-line if you don't; in that case, cure yourself after you're done, or just don't finish their quests).
Also, you can always join them just to get access to Skyforge equipment and then be on your way. :P

Edit:
I know it's kinda off topic, but after playing a bit with the perk calculator, I came up with http://skyrimcalculator.com/#17757 build.
I call it: Spectral Rouge! :spotted owl:
