Pandorum Mod

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:02 am

I havent watched the entire film .. its horrific !!!
I liked the cryo bunks, cryo outfits, and flight suits - I also liked Payton, nice guy untill you know the truth. Anyway, he's mentaly ill in a big way.
Since no Pandorun aparently exists for the PC it would be nice to make one.
Fallout3 is ideal.
Hunters are just albeno Gouls, and can be retextured.
The industrial and vault architecture is "similar" to the spaceship interior.
The flight suit I can base on other jump suit bits.
The Cryo harness can be derived from my existing body harnesses.
The arm mounted riot stun gun might be possible based on plasma gun discharge effect.
The cryo bunk could be a retextured P shelter - animated models require skills or tools I dont have (yet), and colission meshes are tricky to make and work in Fallout3 without crashing it.

Any mod writers interested in using any models that I might make for a cutdown Pandorum Mod plugin or test in my ImpsForever plugin, for their own decent Pandorum mod ?

Wow! I realy enjoyed that movie!

In the near future, about 3 or 4 months once I have my current work in progress all sorted out, I was thinking of making a survival type mod. Originaly I was going to do sort of a predator type thing, where your in a small sandbox sized area, and you have to fend off the predator, while gathering supplies and allies, but this is an even better idea! This, coupled with a small main quest, (could be lore correct, or not) and some new survival aspects would be great! I'd be happy to create something with your models sometime soon, although, when new Vegas comes out, I'll be draining a few months into that. :)

great idea!

I think you guys might enjoy a game called 'Dead Space'. I've never played it but it seems similar. And I've never seen the movie.

So far I have modelled the pants and vest outfits - the main problem here is texturing, and their are no decent screenshots to be got from the film.
For the flight suit I got pics from a Film Props site that may be quite useful.
I am currently creating a tuxedo texture specificaly for something like Denis waers in the opening of Innerspace, my existing stuff is army mess dress and too fancy.
My guards outfit can serve as an off duity uniform, the problem is the rank decals.
Havent looked into the gun yet, anyway, its not as urgent.
It may be best to do outfits in chronlogical sequence, so far I'm just modifying models I have aready made, like pants with no vest.
When I have tested models using my Imps Forever Mod I will dump them into a directory on my web site for anyone to access.
The Protectron Pod should make an acceptable cryo chamber.
The P shelter could be a teleporter, to get from Vault 112 to Reserch Area X, and themn to the orbital habitat, where everyone is cowering in cryo ststis ever since the brainwashed Payton let chinease stormtroopers on board - they have failed to die of in the toxic spray irradication rogram and have mutated into Hunters, surviving on the hydroponics and enything else that wanders in.
I'm not sure I want to get into real mod writing for this though, it takes too much out of me and gets boaring, so it is better if someonelse(s) write the plugin.
Note that any ESP I produce will have communication links to my other mods, to disable any conflicting features in them as appropreate.

The first set of Pandorun models are now available from :

http://www.andysaurus.psychodogstudios.com/Fallout3/Pandorum

There are two ESP's to show how everything works - there is heavy use of texture sets and scripting. There is a link to the Elysium Orbital Habitat via the tGrantworld worldspace.
The ImpsForever plugin is my testbed and provides a teleport link from the bowels of the Rivet City Imp Den to tGrantworld worldspace; it wont work without all the standard ImpsForever resources.
The other plugin is the vanilla version and has no link with the Capital wasteland - you set that up.

Wearing Pandorum clothing sets a global flag to tell other plugins what has happened. This allows scripted overrides if any are needed, as in my ImpsForever plugin.

The resources include :
1. How to convert a Protectron Pod into a CryoBunk, opened either by knocking on the door or by remote access. Sleeping inside the CryoBunk is not possible (unlike in Morrowind there is no sleep menu).
2. Pants (underpants in Yankee???), Pants and Vest.
3. Cryoharness - needed to activate the CryoBunk's computer.
4. Cryomask (with tubing when equipped by the CryoBunk's computer).
5. Service Uniform - as worn by the army, security and prison guards (based on the uniform worn by Mr Laurio who spends his leisure time beating up Magnito). Comes with peaked cap.
6. Service Flightsuit. There are three models, as worn at the start of the film, as worn by Payton later on, and as worn by the Captain (different belt and other details). There is the standard texture set, the Captain's texture (seen in the last deleted scene), and an intermediate one for the 2nd Lieutenant. Comes with flat cap.
7. Mess Dress, as worn by Dennis Quaid at the start of Innerspace. Very Edwardian but looks great. Comes with peaked cap.

All uniforms can be tailored with rank decals, also choice of Elysium and Eden badge decals. Optional nvde body will be available. Service and Flightsuit uniforms can be personalised with specific or generic name badge decals - as in the film.
The Service Flightsuit and Cap standard textures also come in versions for : The Maintenance Crew (dirty blue brown, this is the original texture), The Medical Crew (Blue), Agricultural Crew (Green), Security Guards (Red), and Penal (Yellow). It seemed to me that use could have been made of Convict labour (scientists of unsound political viewpoint being sent to the American Gulag), and some way of disciplining naughty crew would be needed - after being convicted of a night out on the tiles, Payton would have to wear a Yellow Jumpsuit (with Lieutenants decals) with a control collar for a day or two.

Glow sticks, torch, and Riot gun are under development. Also have to do Hunter textures - not easy to set up new Race records, are some real plugin corruption dangers.

-------------------------------------------

Some others are thinking of an alternative game start in a Vault Tech cryo bunk. Having this as a completely separate start from the main game might be nice, either on the actual Elysium, or an Orbital Habitat linked to Elysium, which could be the research or support ship. Orbital habitat overrun by mutated Chinese let in by brainwashed Payton, so crew hide out in cryobunks hoping the Chinese will die off. but mutate instead, feeding on Prey, mutant humans with horns and tails feeding of the hydroponics (not original, is in the The Time Machine).

Have now uploaded : space ship toilet that you sit on and can be retextured to look crap, Glow sticks (that can be dropped after being shaken and stay lit for a time) and LED torch, Body Armor/Body warmer, Collar 2 way radio for flightsuits, Shock Baton, Shock Riot Gun (ammo not needed, just crank the reload as in the film).
ReadMe file.
Weapons have not been tested in real combat yet.

True, but it would be simpler for me if people just watched the film. Remember, these are just resources, the ESP's are only to show how things work for someone else to write a real ESP.
