Pants for the women and dresses for the men!

Post » Mon Jul 26, 2010 7:18 pm

I really hated in oblivion when anytime I tried to equip pants to my female character they transformed into a dress. Also, there are times when I enjoy making really ugly characters and it'd be nice to equip a dress to my manly character. More realism and variety. Heck, most of the redoran guards in morrowind wore skirts, regardless of gender. So gimme 'em back, please. n_n

Um...yea, would not want my male nord character walking around in a dress, but hey your right i guess they should allow it, it would create more variety/creativity.

Agreed. Why was it like that in Oblivion, anyway?

I agree, it felt really silly when my stealth-based unarmoured female character went dungeon diving in a pretty skirt. Just have skirts and trousers as separate items, one shouldn't turn into the other depending upon the character's gender.

There was a similar topic like this a couple of days ago. And yes, I agree. I want my female characters to wear pants and my male characters to wear skirts.

I know a lot of people hate this idea, but I want gendered armor too. Why should you be able to pick up a man's armor with a female character, and suddenly the shape has changed to fit your body?

Meh, it'd be cool idea, problem would be I find some clothes, and go "Hey I could wear these."

Next thing you know my Argonian is the laughing stock fo the entire town for wearing a skirt adn a pop top.

Not that I disagree with the argument you're suggesting, but I prefer to take it in reverse: it's an argument for making armour gender neutral, at least in its appearance. (Of course, there should be subtle differences in size, but those will also appear within a gender).

How is that a problem? You're the one who put them on. If you think it looks silly, don't wear it.

If all fans had their way, Skyrim would be one messed up game.

Agreed, atleast Kilts for men if not dresses, as heavy armor (spaulders, chestplate, gauntlets)+dai katana+kilt can look awesome.

Not disagreeing, but how is this feature messed up? I tend to play female characters (my main is a woman, in fact, though she's yet to travel past Morrowind), and I can say safely that she wouldn't ever wear a skirt.

I shall create a great muscular man who frolics though the glades of Skyrim in a dress.

Then punches monsters to death.

And resumes frolicking.

Men should be able to wear kilts. That seems pretty Nordy. A huge Nord charging into battle with a claymore wearing a kilt would be a sight to behold.

Well, a skirt with greaves underneath can STILL look manly lol. Remember the imperial guards in Morrowind. the had a skirt, AND it was purple. Still didn't look girly lol

But seriously, I just hate how pants became skirts and vice-cersa

Seeing how this games basis is a Nordic lifestyle it would be pretty realistic to see kilts or a variation of a kilt in game.

I wonder if they could code NPCs to make fun of people who flaunt the cultural norms of Skyrim. NPCs often remarked on you being naked and it lowered their disposition. Maybe gruff Nords would disparage any man who wore a 'sissy' sundress
