Perhaps the reach was a bit longer, but I suspect it was just a replacement model for the knife.

The Psycho pre-order pack used to contain something called the "parang machete," but this was cut.

Could of sworn I heard that was a fake.

I wouldn't mind a DLC with it or a katana for that matter.

That's only bring in a swarm of light operatives hoping they can be a ninja.

And that's when I bring in my Gatling turret and the Maximus. DAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKA

For some strange reason I can't imagine that :/
Since when do modern soldiers bring katanas to a gunfight(unless your Chuck Norris there is no exception)
But it could be a good addon on the Resistance side.Security are too military-ish and sterile for a katana.

I'm with Gimp. Katana is too big and unmanageable to carry with two guns while jumping around.

Easy enough, up the damage it deals (over the knife) and make it equivalent to a light or medium weapon - so you'd use it in place of one of your light/medium weapons. Also, you still have your knife in your other hand - knife could be a knockdown effect with a katana/wakizashi equipped while the sword does damage.

If found that the most decent melee addon would be a massive bowie knife which does slightly more damage than the original knife and has special animations(Knife shoved into spine,i dunno)
or a brass knuckle..

I would like several knives/ melee options to choose from. No animations please. For all you who are thinking this is an FPS yes I am aware. However Brink is a game about letting you play how you want to play. You can play without firing a shot maybe some of us want to play using only melee.

I believe I'm spending too much time on my threads(this is a bad thing)But I agree with you.The Katana could be rusty to show its been gnawed at by the sea water. The security could have police batons as well..

I wouldn't mind a katana or machete (or both) in game.

As long as they were an alternative to a gun instead of paired with one. Fire button does a vertical attack or a thrust with decent range, and the melee button does a horizontal slash that basically works like a knife attack with slightly longer reach/wider arc. Both could do approximately the same damage as a knife attack, but also have knockdown effect. Disadvantage? Heavier weapon, slower swing than knife, and you don't have a gun with it, so no shooting people. Sounds balanced to me.

It is a good idea but then, wouldn't brink lose all meaning of modernity ?
