Particle Effect Shader on Activator?

Post » Sat Aug 08, 2015 2:24 am

Hey guys I thought this could use it's own thread. I need a particle effect shader to show on an activator not an actor. I saw a thread a while ago that I for the life of me can't find, where someone said you can edit the nif file and it allows particle shaders. Does anyone remember this or know how it's done please? :)

Have you tried just calling it ON the actuator ref the same way you would an actor? That is how it worked in Oblivion. It was funny to me how if you shot a spell at an actor and accidently hit a DOOR or other activator the door would "catch on fire" or otherwise show what ever shader was programed to the spell.

I'd assume that the torches you can pull of the wall fit that category. They have to be activators to let you take them, and I'm fairly sure the fire includes particle effects, if it's not all done with them.

The activator only shows the membrane part of the shader, not the particle. The fix is to do something to the nif file, but I can't remember what it is. The discussion surrounded using the detect life spell on objects, not just actors.

I think Torches are light objects.
