Patch 1.9 (360)

Post » Sun Jul 06, 2014 2:57 am

Im so sick and tired of Bethesda releasing half-arsed patches that ultimately have just ruined the game for me. I dont like to complain but after patch 1.9 was released my game just got all kinds of bugs, like the lip syncing and constant lock-up of my game rendering it unplayable meaning it was $60 thrown out the window. Anyways i just want to know if someone has been experiencing the same issues and if they have found a solution for it.

I never had constant lock-ups when playing the game on Xbox. only "major" problem I had was the lip sync bug. and I barely had any minor bugs.... well if I did, I didn't notice them.

You're not alone. I've experienced the same things after 1.9 was released, so I can understand the frustration. For "unknown" reasons, some people have more trouble than others with the game locking up; I was one of those people who had it lock it frequently and I finally gave up and bought the PC version of the game. Sadly, there isn't any very reliable solutions for the freezing (locking up) issue, but some people claim that occasionally clearing the game and system caches and disabling auto-saves can help; it never really made any noticeable difference for me.

The lip-synching issue is an engine bug that was introduced by the 1.9 patch; nobody is exempt from this issue (not even PC users), but it tends to be worse (and more noticeable) for some people than others. Like other engine bugs, there isn't any solution for this issue.

I don't know why some people have trouble with the patch and some don't. I had the same bad luck as you. The console locked up constantly. I made it maybe half way through the main quest before giving up and deleting Skyrim. Today I play the game unpatched, as it was initially released. The 360 remains off the net so it doesn't update and patch. Sneak and lockpicking are bugged, though. If you equip or consume anything intended to fortify either of those skills it has the opposite effect. Perhaps most notably, there is no way to play any of the DLCs.

Myself and a few friends had the same issues. FPS drops, freezes, crashes, bugs that I never had before, the game ended up the same way FO3 did in the end, unplayable. I ended up shelving the game until I got my PC, just in time for a Steam sale :D

I know how to clear the system cache but i dont know how to clear the game cache, on another note oddly enough most of the bugs that happen while im playing vanilla skyrim seem to disappear when i download the dlc's for this game.

Immediately after pressing "A" to load Skyrim from the 360 dashboard, simultaneously press and hold the "X" button and the left and right bumpers. Continue to hold them until you see the "Start" option in Sykrim's load screen.

There is no indication in the load screen that you have cleared anything. Soooooo...... Take it for what it's worth. :D

I learned of it from other people posting the method here. Bethesda doesn't contribute to the forums that I know of so I don't know that we could get confirmation from them that it in fact does work. But at least one member here I read mentioned that they were told by Bethesda tech support to use the method to clear the cache.
