I don't see what's so bad about these traders having a lot of money. Small hamlets in places like Riverwood might not have wealthy shopkeepers which have 50,000 gold for investment but a shopkeeper in a place like Solitude or Whiterun might have a lot of investment gold.

Chances are the patch will be 1.10 and not 2.0 however.

Whatever... I never invest in those perks.
Anyone who reaches Level 40 or so will be a millionaire anyway...
Just way too much wealth already (and no way to spend it).
Going to take a long time giving it away to beggars @ 1 Septim each! LoL

thats not how decimals work

it counts the same as 1 2 3 4 5

but at 1.9 you add a 0.1 and becomes 2.0

patch 1.1 was eight patches ago changing it to 1.10 would just make it 1.1 again (the 0 at end doesnt mean to be there) and i doubt bethesda would update stuff as 0.01 because then wed be patch 1.91

That's not how patches work though.

1.x is the overall version number.

x.1 is the build number based on the patch.

Basically, 2.0 would be a brand new release of the game with a massive content change that affects the very basics of the game. (Example: GTA:San Andreas. When they re-released the game without the hot coffee content THAT was 2.0, a later version that prevented modding altogether was 3.0)

So next patch would be 1.10 because the base game itself won't be changing in any fundamental way.

I've seen some games have patches run up to 1.25.

Where Beth to release a patch that massively changed the leveling system or changed every single detail of the game, then that could conceivably be called 2.0 then.

No, it's not. Otherwise you'd have 90% more skyrim compared to the 1.0 version. :D

Anyway, usually the devs go in small increments, like 1.234 -> 1.236 in order to prevent any confusion. I have no idea why they decided to do it in 0.1 steps.

Wouldn't the small steps actually be 1.2.34? ie: new iterations of the same patch.

You are correct - but sadly version numbers on projects do not work like mathematical decimals.

It's an easy error... one that many people get wrong.

This happens all the time, particularly MMORPGs. They can have patches that go into the .11, .12, and .13's

So - sorry, decimal system doesn't apply to patches. Blame the industry and tell them its incorrect math... I'm sure they'll listen. ^_^
