(US) Patch 1.01 is awesome!

Post » Wed Oct 07, 2009 4:07 am

This patch has worked miracles in my game. I'm about 50+ hours in

It's amazing how much more stable the game is and all the texture pop-ins have almost disappeared.

It's a massive improvement.

I'll need to play more to know if some of my broken quests are fixed.

The frame-rate still could use improvement, it goes from smooth to choppy every 20 feet. My controls still feel laggy, weapon select and VATS select could still be much crisper and consistent.

But the game looks and runs much, much better. THANK YOU

Is this a different patch than the previous patch released? I downloaded 1.01, but I read about another patch released less than a week ago. I was never prompted to download that one. I haven't noticed any differences with this patch thus far, but I haven't had a ton of bugs lately.

I think some of you guys are having worse issues then others. After Reinstalling the game, then patch. It seems like most the bugs that drove me nuts are gone. Boone doesnt lose his gun, the quest map isnt telling me to go random places. my rep with all the factions is showing up in pip boy. so far frame rate yet to be really tested./

I've done that, and I'm still having a problem with the reputation glitch.

i dont know about you guys, but besides a FEW freezes I never really had any problems until AFTER the patch. Now my game is constantly crashing.

I'm afraid to patch the game since I'm 44 hours in and while I have had 10 freezes which is insane(twice as many as I have had in 3 years of owning my PS3) I haven't really experienced too many other bugs just 1 or 2 quests being broken and I found an easy workaround for keeping boone's rifle when I enter casinos.

The fact that 90% of people seem to report the patch breaking an already broken game just scares the crap outta me.

It seems to have made my game freeze less, although it did freeze once since I downloaded it. I also still have the slow down when around others or in the desert sometimes. I've still seen radscorpions and other multiple legged creatures fall through the ground, and I also seem to have a bugged mission. Oh My Papa is missing Melissa. She is nowhere to be found. My game has stabilized a lot though, it seems.

The patch has also worked for me. I've played for 4.5 hours today without a crash or freeze. Being able to use Boone again is great.

When I was doing this mission Melissa was gone .I don't have the patch so this must be a issue from the start. However I did the quest my stealing Karl's journal and giving it to papa khan and then the quest got completed.

Sadly, I took that Journal WAAAAAAAY earlier in the game. (I was around level 13. I'm level 24 now.) This seems to have bugged the game as well. No one acknowledges that I even have the journal. I even convinced Karl to talk crap about the Khans in front of them. lol Still not completed. *shrug*

The long loading times and frame rate seem a lot better, but it's freezing more on me. The screen will sometimes turn black entering buildings the only fix is resetting the PS3.

Spoiler
The crucified Trooper at The Fort will freeze the game some times. Seems like you're able to initiate dialogue with him, but it's bugged

The patch has stabilized things for me on the most part but what I'm seeing now post-patch is a lot of textures not rendering out. Patches of the wasteland staying gradient and houses staying 1 color (no in-depth texture). Also had 1 trailer texture load on the outside but not on the inside, i think this was the raided farm land trailer or something along those lines.

Lucky you guys... I'm stuck in "The house always wins II, and whenever I approach the strip's gate, it freezes me.

I just had an issue where, when I clicked the door for the crimson caravan's guard barracks door, my game froze. I hard reset my system and when I tried to play again it froze at 3% of loading the trophy info. I had to uninstall the game, and this time I ignored the 1.01 patch to see if it still does the same thing. I'll check to see if I can enter without the patch, and if so I will add the patch back and then once again try to go in and see if this is a bug that was created by the patch.

So I was able to go into the guard bunker without the game freezing once I un-installed and reinstalled the game. When I start, the game tells me that there is DLC missing that may be important for the game, but I ignored that and haven't had the game freeze as it did at the bunker. Later tonight I will try and update again and see if that same glitch happens again.

I restarted. I still have my other file, so with all of what you said, I'll try what you did. Maybe I can finally complete the mission.. :/
