Patch completely breaks game. Freezes 100% of the game withi

Post » Sun Oct 04, 2009 7:13 am

Recently downloaded the patch on my bro's PS3 and loaded up his save and it constantly freezes within 15 minutes of loading a save.

This is ridiculous. I can't believe they broke the game more than it was already. Wow.

They should win a Buggiest Game of the Decade trophy.

EDIT: Moderators please remove this thread if you can as it serves no purpose anymore. My other thread on the issue in the General forum was moved here so now it seems as if I have made 2 similar threads

I've started a new game and have had no problems at all. Not even pathfinding issues from NPC's and seems to be running a bit smoother. Most of the downtime or stuttering, 2 second pauses it caused by the Engine. Gamebryo is very, very old. One of the first games to use it was Dark Age of Camelot back in 2001.

Buggiest game of the decade was actually awarded to World of Warcraft. For six months that game was a cockroach infested Motel (Already mentioned this before) and even to this day it still has cockroaches. Only difference is it went from a Motel or a three star Hotel.

Patience young Gwasshoppa. This game is very, very big on a very old Engine.

More tired excuses.
Being a game with large amounts of open world content is not a viable excuse.
Old engine is not a viable excuse.

No piece of software should be sent to mass production with this many, widespread, bugs. It's not like they are bugs that only occasionally happen - they happen from start to finish. Again, I'm going to repeat what I just posted elsewhere: Grow a pair and stop defending companies that release crappy products. You wouldn't just be so "oh be patient" if it was a car, or a house, or a TV, would you. No, you'd be demanding an exchange, or a refund. This is no different.

Your excuses are just poor attempts to justify something that has no justification.

Whining about what you come across in the game won't fix it, either. Obviously you don't know much about developing video games, Engines and so on. I'm no expert either but one of the main reasons for the issues in this game is from the Gamebryo Engine. It's very old in today's standards. Why was it used for Fallout 3 and now New Vegas is beyond me. But until more patches and updates come out to resolve what can be fixed you'll just have to be patient.

And don't ever compare a car, house or a TV to an Open-World Post Apocalyptic RPG ever again.

They just can't afford the new technology in Obsidian. it's 7-10yrs old now. The sad thing is that you can actually feel it while playing. Not just freezing and frame rate issues but the graphic.
If they don't invest this is gonna be the last part in the series for many players I guess.

If Bethesda don't upgrade their engine for Fallout 4 they will lose all respect in the video game industry. The GameBryo engine was O.K and all but it is way past it's expiry date. Like 5 years past it. A new engine(a good one, a similar one that fixes all the flaws of GameBryo) would completely rejuvenate not only the Fallout series but also Bethesda as a developer. They are known for using old, outdated buggy engines for no good reason other than they are scared of moving forward.

This is not a barrage on you but more a grievance at the repenting nature of the "patient" advice people are giving. It is entirely deducible from how long you've been experiencing this, just NV, then try playing this and FO3 while making your point. I'm tired also of people making threads saying "Example of Bug" then adding how aggravating it is, and rather condescending replies saying stop worrying; stop complaining; it's just a game. The nature some are taking to may be extreme, but I did not go out and buy a pair of 50pence socks. I personally will not allow what was a superb Fallout series sink due to embarrassing testing/programming in the first place. The engine was their choice, and given the fact the majority of the reviews I have read have actually mentioned the likeness - too much likeness - to FO3 that was one of their downfalls. They made no attempt to differentiate the game, and from all the media hype they broadcasted they made it out like the next big thing in the series.

Down to the knowledge of developing games, I have extremely little but even I know that at a price of £40 British Sterling this is not adequate. I have never joined a forum to purposefully explain the difficulties and faults of what was to be my coming soon of the year. In fact, once I registered I realised I couldn't add anything because the general public within one day had posted almost 3/4+ full forum pages of bug references.

Slowly this public realised they were not being listened to, especially after another rushed patch fixing noticeably nothing, they got restless. And lo behold what happens, narcissistic forum wardens lock subjective threads in a pitiful attempt to control the anger of the public. An anger most warranted.

I paid £40 for this game, I did not get the full value of that of which I am very astute about.
