My book case is still broken in Breezehome, albeit differently than before.

It worked once, but when I removed a book, I couldn't access the shelf to place it there again. If I did this with other bookcases the same thing happened to them, so I reloaded before I screwed up the OTHER book cases. The 1.3 patch fixed PART but NOT THE ENTIRE issue.

Other book shelves, which I did not touch originally (b/c of the reload) now work fine! YEAH!

However, the original book shelf still seems permanently glitched.

Sigh. Anyone have better luck?

The top of a BS "broke" before the patch and I still can't take the books off the shelf even after the patch, so you're not alone.

But the bottom shelf seems to work fine for now.

Sounds like 1.01 is the best patch the game has seen. Troubling that it was less broken on release date patch than it is a month in. Good job Bethesda!

All of mine work fine, BUT.. i loaded up an old save where i had saved after they were broken and they do not work.

So, if you saved after they ate your books in the old patch i guess they are now broken until you restart.

The bookshelf will continue to have problems if you had this issue before 1.3 and you broke the bookshelf - it remains broken.

My two bookshelves in Breezehome bough while running Patch 1.1 work just fine under 1.3. They were full, and I had never corrupted them by ever installing 1.2. Before I installed Patch 1.3, I went to the house andtook all the books off. Then after Patch 1.3 was installed, I put the books on each shelf, and they get full properly, and hold the books I placed there without eating them.

Speaking of books, they have fixed the Red Eagle glitch/exploit under 1.3, although the patch notes don't mention it. Before the patch, the quest would trigger each time the Legend of Red Eagle was read, and I would go to the dead body of the bandit leader and get Red Eagles Fury, and the other good stuff he was carrying. Then I could go to the cavern and place the sword in the slot ending the quest. I ended up making a bunch of trips there, as it is a very common book. It was like printing money, as you sell the same stuff over and over again.

Yay so my bookshelves will stay broken in Breezehome. I'll have to move all my crap to the house in Riften after the patch then.

One thing to note, if a book shelf ate your books, a patch would probably not bring them back. Reason is the character save probably no longer indicates that you have to books, or the books current location is outside the cell.

I wonder for folks who have this issue and who are on the PC, if they turn off clipping and walk behind the bookshelf or just outside the home's cell if the books are there or not. My book shelves have not ate any books, so I can't test this.

thanks everyone. bookshelf didn't eat my books, but I cannot activate the TOP shelf. The bottom shelf I did not break (b/c I reloaded) and now that works properly. The top shelf is still screwed. Weird. Beth - come on. really.
