Patch 1.3 hit or miss?

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 1:25 am

It seems some of the fixes in the patch were a hit or miss.......unless I misread some of them somehow? Such as.......

"Settler count now displays correctly" Does this refer to the number shown in PIP-BOY or in workshop mode while in a settlement? Because all of my settler numbers in PIP-BOY are still out of whack.

"Happiness now calculates correctly" Yeah I don't know about that one. Happiness ratings all the same no matter what is done. Ive done it all. Heck, give me a tip but im sure ive done it.

"Ability to rotate an object your holding" This one was great!..........but things still fall through tables and such....sooooooo????????

"General Memory and stability improvements" To be honest, I am having horrible glitch/sketchy gameplay similar to broken frame rates and lag. Usually happens when im in a settlement that I have built up a lot or when moving through the city......but it really kills gameplay. I even have my TV on the recommended GAME settings and everything. Think of it as if you were to play this game on a computer not built to handle it.

"Dramatically increased object fading distance" Yeah they sure did! And its great being able to see my towering creations as I come over the hill. But im wondering if this fuels the issue above with the stability improvements????

But on a positive note, THANK YOU for the settler tags while in workshop mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can finally make sure the slaves are doing what they should be doing!!!! :goodjob:

The lag, frame rate issue don't seem to be any different than before. Still choppy in the big city and other areas. Personally, I don't understand why they improved draw distance when the frame rate is more important... but overall this patch did not harm my game in anyway. Load times seem faster also.

Sadly, I think it's more of a miss. I mean, the biggest thing was fixing the problem that was messing with the story line. I'm currently testing out if it's fixed.

I'm sure the pressure of the fan base didn't help much after the patch wasn't released on it's expected date which would put ANYONE under pressure (a single person, a team, a business, Bethesda, it doesn't matter who you are, pressure has impact). That generated negative environment alone probably pushed the patch out before they were completely confident in how much it would improve the game.

I notice some improvements here and there, but naturally, I'm going to notice the breaks in the gaming.

TBH, yeah, I was PO'ed when the patch wasn't released within the time frame it was supposed to be released, but other than not following through with a statement, as a company, they haven't broken any promises. They released an update, which will always be followed by another update, if something doesn't work that is tolerable (lag, brahmin on my d*mn roof, glitches with the NPC), I feel we can live with that. The settlements not updating properly when you check on them on your PIP, that's definitely annoying - causes us as players to lose the ability to efficiently make sure they have what they need and wastes time. I'm experiencing what you are with that so I'm not sure it's been perfected. But it isn't as awful as it was before (I've had my status on a settlement showing 45 people, then I get there and there's like 10 lol).

The main thing is that they fix what was literally game-breaking which I could only imagine is a game developer's worst nightmare. I hope it's fixed for people who haven't played yet or haven't gotten too far yet. AND for us that are starting new games testing out different outcomes.
