Patch in more CHERRY BOMBS!

Post » Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:08 am

In 80 hours of game play I have managed to find a grand total of 6 cherry bombs!

As you need 5 for every bottlecap mine you make you can guess how many i have created!!

Please patch merchants to sell even 1 or two occasionally otherwise having the bm craft option is a waste of time

Interesting. You win the most unusual patch request award.

I don't think I even noticed cherry bombs.

Merchants already do sell them occasionally, though it is not often (you will see bobby pins for sale more often). I think I have gotten as many as 18 in a playthrough without trying too hard - that was with grabbing several off traveling merchants when the bombs appeared in their inventory lists. The spawn rate in merchant stocks appears to be similar to the rate lunchboxes crop up.

Honestly, if they have a junk merchant (sixy Old Lady Gibson) then he/she should sell "all" kinds of misc items and in greater quantities as well. (around 3-7 each day should suffice.)

The New Vegas Wasteland is not nearly as cluttered with "junk" as the D.C. Wasteland is, one of the things I miss :sadvaultboy: being a "junk" collector and all.

Couldn't agree more. With my crafting heavy character I picked up every damn piece of craft-useable junk. I have a large amount of most items, with the exception of cherry bombs, which I have 5, i think.

Harder to find than a sunset sasparilla star.

Did I miss the vendor that has a ton of these? Maybe Miguel's pawn shop?

There are some issues with the availability of crafting items. And if you really want a meaningful supply of anything in the game, you better be on the look out from level 1. Cave fungus? In all my play through I think I've found some maybe 4 times. We need consistent junk vendors or how about barter controlling how much these items show up in a junk traders inventory.

As well as Ralph, Michelle and Miguel also. These are the junk vendors. I actually kinda miss the item specific vendors from FO3. At least I knew where to go to find some clothing item or salvage part I needed.

OT: I have been running around a OCD pack rat lately, with no specialized skills and have been picking up a whole bunch of wierd things I usually don't pick up. I know I've been picking up every single cherry bomb because, like you, I wanna make some bottlecap mines. I think, IIRC, that I find the majority of them in mailboxes. Cherry bombs in mailboxes. Bunch of damn pranking punks running around the wasteland. Next thing you know, there'll be flaming bags of brahmin excrement on everyone's doorsteps.

Hm, I'd give you some of mine. I seem to find a lot of them, although not enough to keep you constantly stocked in 20 bottlecap mines all the time. I find the most in mailboxes....which appears to be rather random. But occasionally mailboxes respawn so you might want to keep checking those at least a 2nd time as you go along.

Don't think I've seen a vendor with a regular supply...the only thing I could suggest is to find one that does occasionally sell them and just camp out in front of them for days and days, buying them when they appear until you have what you want. Other than that....I guess they didn't want certain craftables to be commonly used items.

I too find them in mail boxes, as well as metal boxes. Unfortunately my explosives skill is no where near high enough to make bottlecap mines (I loved those in FO3). As a result, I have about 50.

On a side note, anyone know what centaur blood is for?

Seemingly, nothing, other than selling for caps. I looked at the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_crafting and it was nowhere to be found.

Yep, it's weightless and sells for a bit more than pre-war money.

I am just wondering why we need Cherry Bombs for bottlecap mines when we have C4, dynamite and can take apart bullets. Why can't we use those for the bottlecap mine?

Lockers, crates and metal boxes are the best places but random spawns.
NV seems to have far less then FO3, more so than most other misc items.

I've playing a trader too Gunny, I just collected 35+ radscorpion poison glands from giant ones all over the Mojave...
Decided that a trader would make a killing with exotic food stuff, 50 or so caps from each stinger turned into 2 caps per portion worth of food.

The PC got screwed by Ruby Nash, and now her barter skills dropped 50 points.

There are several crafting ingredients that are so rare the recipe is useless. Cave fungus is impossible to find, death claw eggs and lake lurk meat rarely drop.
Pinto beans only grow in a few locations, not that anyone cares about mole rate stew since mole rats are quite rare also.
