Patch 1.2 Nano Catalyst bug still not fixed?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:46 am

Downloaded and applied the 1.2 patch and resumed SP and I've just picked up 10x100 nano catalyst and still NOTHING.

Has this patch actually fixed the bug? Because if it has, I sure as hell aren't seeing any change. Does the negative counter still apply? If so I am still in a world of hurt because I had collected about 12k saving up for the 16k upgrade before experiencing the bug.

Anyone else with the same problem since patch 1.2?

Yes im still having this issue. And i would be in the same situation as you also, I had a TON of NC before the bug first reared its ugly head. I am also 16/19 of Soldier difficulty now, and have since seen NO Catalyst increase the entire time...

Is there any way of resetting the nano catalyst counter?

Restarting the campaign, even at different levels of difficulty doesn't resolve the issue.

Will an uninstall-reinstall fix this?

What i want to know is why Cry-Tom didn't provide the full change list of all the bugs they did fix, rather than his top ten.

I'm not 100% sure to be honest. I have been asking in the Update thread to see if anyone knows, and so far have received no response.

It's quite aggravating when not only the SP is glitching so bad i don't want to play (It's honestly game-breaking, unable to upgrade the nano suit?"

but MP won't save even when i attempt to utilize the work around. It saves for a bit but then if i leave a session i've been playing in and come back to the game later, i've lost my ranks and unlocks again. Back down to 11, and i was near 14 last night.

Okay I have just gone through every save and the nano catalyst counter is always zero.

Even went back to my very first checkpoint save on March 26th and of course expect NC to be zero because no Ceph had been encountered at the time but my nano suit upgrades are still there as well as weapons addons!

So as far as I am concerned, NC has not been fixed by Patch 1.2. the bug is somewhere else in the profile.

Yea it didn't fix it. I saw that on the fix list and got excited. Picked up quite a few 300's, 100's and a couple 500's, but it didn't do any good because its not saving. I have serious doubts that anything on that list is actually fixed. QA needs to be QA'd - they haven't figured out how to say NO, it doesn't work.

It worked just fine when i initially went through the campaign on normal, but now i'm on the hardest setting and now its broken.

Doesn't work either. I believe we'll have to delete some save file that globally advances subsequent campaign nano catalyst contributions somewhere in order to get our nano catalyst collection back. Problem with that is we'll lose our nano upgrades I would believe.

I'll start looking.

I don't mind starting again and losing saves. In fact I would prefer it and enjoy playing the SP mode the way it's meant to be (or closer to at least)

It doesn't sound like an uninstall/reinstall fixes it

So if my previous collection of over 12k of Nano Catalyst , before the bug, has farked up the counter, how can this be reset so I can begin to collect again???

The thread is titled "Patch 1.2 Nano Catalyst bug still not fixed?" The poster was explaining that, at least for him, it was fixed.

It seems to have worked for me as well. I heard that you may have to create a new profile (and restart the game) in order to get it to work.

The catalyst was supposed to be saved into profile, not specific savegames, so you can keep your catalyst even if you start a new game as long as you use same profile.

As such I'd assume a new profile is necessary.

^in which case it's not a bloody patch fix, it simply didn't occur to anyone to do that.

Okay I have been experimenting in SP and it now seems I have collected enough nano catalyst to compensate for the negative 12k that I had. Back into the positive now. Of course I still have the game running so will see what happens when I exit and come back next time or change saves.

But for now, Nano Catalysts seems to be working again.

Will update later.

I guess I'm getting my answer.. I just got off work and saw it, I was sooo happy and before I could even install it, my Nano Scrotum is crying...

I had somehow avoided the Nano Catalyst bug on SP (almost got all of the modules) and with 1.2 now I'm bugged with the rest of the crowd lol. Dammit!

The Catalyst bug is not fixed for me.

To the people who are saying it is because the count is negative and you need to restart the level, it doesn't work. I've reload to multiple different levels to points before this problem started happening and it still stuck at zero.

I had to create a new profile for it to start working again which really svcks. The patch only fixes the saving of catalyst points problem, not the negative value problem.

CryTek could have easily coded the program to reset any negative values to 0 when the profile is loaded, no excuse to for them keep the data messed up.

Exactly.

It's such a shame that this game is still mostly unplayable...

I've had this issue too, but only if I stealthkill/melee kill a Seph. The game will tell me I've picked up catalyst but the total stays 0. Using guns or explosives (a heavy can't be stealth killed) does IIRC give me catalyst I can use.

Haven't seen if patch 1.2 solves things for me.

Hey guys,

I tested this today without issue. I did start a new profile/game and didn't lose any points through multiple quits & level loads.

Something that's been mentioned by other users is that the original nano catalyst issue actually put you into negative numbers sometimes. So although it stated you had '0' catalyst points, you may have actually had -1500 catalyst points or whatever. So when people are going in and testing and it's not increase from 0 straight away, they think it's not fixed, but it's actually increased from -1500 to -1400, or whatever number it is exactly for you.

It's working for new accounts because it's not in the negative from the beginning. Please keep trying and you should see your catalyst points eventually go above and stay above 0. Bear in mind that i've not 100% confirmed this is the case but it seems to make the most sense. If i come across any more info through testing i'll post it up.

Thanks!

Yes, we know if we create a new profile the problem is fixed, but who wants to start a new profile or earn thousands of points before it starts incrementing again.

As I said before CryTek could have easily coded the program to reset any negative values to 0 when the profile is loaded, no excuse to for them keep the data messed up.
