Patch release with DLC?

Post » Fri Nov 12, 2010 4:41 pm

I've seen on several threads people saying how Bethesda is waiting to release the patch with the DLC kinda wondering if this is true. Frankly I'm fine with it as long as their continuing to work on it in the meantime and make sure its as bug free as can be. If they have it done or close to being done and their just postponing it til DLC release then well that's kinda bs. Just wondering because on Nov. 18th Beths said they were putting the final touches on the patch and its been bout 2 weeks now so... I'm starting to wonder.

In the past Bethesda has delayed a DLC in order to get a patch out first but I don't see any reason they'd delay a patch so it could come out with a DLC, particularly not a multi-platform patch when the DLC is exclusive to one.

There may be a lot of people throwing this rumor around but there's no substance behind it.

Yea, I thought it was kind of strange that they'd delay it with DLC that's exclusive. I've just been waiting so long (OK, about a month and half) to actually be able to play this game through. almost inclined to belief what ever I hear on this patch. Well thanks for some what clearing that up for me. The funny thing is though I bet once this patch comes out if it fixes most of the bugs people will forget all about the problems it had before, and quit complaining at Bethesda and Obsidian and stop trying to hold them legally accountable.

you're more than likely right. i myself am pretty angry at beth/obsidian but if the patch fixes the problems i myself have been having, i will be happy and log countless hours on this game. if not, i will return it for the mesely 20 bucks my local GameStop will give me and buy some other game.

Returning it to game stop is what I'm definitely doing if the patch doesn't at least stop the unreasonable crashes and they don't plan on making another patch , however i find it unlikely that the patch wont help. NV runs on the same engine as FO3 and Oblivion and they got patched and 90% of the problems in those games (for me at least) where fixed, so I'm assuming once this patch comes out NV will play all right.oh and they've spent about a month or so on this patch. I don't mind waiting as long as its going to actually work and have decent stability.

This might be a stupid question since I'm not on the forums that much, but after patch releases do they actually say what it fixes specifically, or is it a generalization?

Other companies pretty much always give patch notes with their patches. Fallout 3 also had patch notes. So I guess we should have something like
that with the "upcoming" patch.

I don't think there was any for 1.01 well specific notes anyway but that just "fixed" scripting errors so that's understandable, but I don't know if there will be any for 1.02 because its supposedly fixing so much might just be general freezing/crashing and and some quest bugs fixed. but who knows guess will find out in a week or two I hope that's all the longer we have to wait.

I just wanted to share this post from our community manager:
Talaran is right. We're getting to the finish line, but it's very hard to speculate on an exact date. A few weeks back I could have speculated on the date, and I would have been wrong. We typically only give updates when we have substantive info to share.

As mentioned previously, we should have an update soon on all three platforms (PC, 360, and PS3). Will they all come out at the same time? That's our hope. Keep in mind it's a different process to get the patch/update out on Xbox, PC, and PS3 (it's actually two process for PS3... Europe and North America).

Once the update starts becoming available, we'll let everybody know. We'll share details in the pinned threads (across in FNV General Discussion and in the support boards), as well as on the blog.

Thanks for your patience.

I for one think this whole things a joke. I bought a game nearly 2 months ago that is practically unplayable and I've been wait 6 weeks for the game to get patched. Thanks for the weekly updates bethesda. Helped us out a lot!

Anyway I know theres no point in crying about it but this is the second game yous released like this. Yous just lost yourselfs a whole bunch of first day buyers with this one. From experiance I now know I should wait a few months to buy any bethesda game that comes out. Maybe wait until it hits half price on store shelfes considering my patience has been tested a lot with this one.

Lol and the worst thing about the wait is when they do release this patch its going to open up a bunch of other gaming issues that will take another 6 weeks to patch. They should have just tryed fixing the freezes in one patch and got that out quickly and then tryed fixing everything else.

More patches fixing smaller issues would have been better. Now I know why Future Shop is selling NV for only $39.99.

I'll buy from Bethesda again as long as they don't use broken game engines. If they use a different engine and they still put out unstable games then Yea probably won't buy from them again any where near release date. after I pre-ordered NV just for it to collect dust for a month and a half.

The patch went for certification today so we should have the patch live this week (usually under 3 days). We never know, [censored] happens.

Yeah, Now all we have to worry about is if this patch is going to open up more bugs. They've been working on it for some time now so I hope they ensured that that won't happen I understand it might open up some minor bugs but as long as it fixes the stability and the freezing I'd be happy with the patch.

Well Europe is getting the patch today, so yet again U.S. PS3 owners of the game are again the last to get anything. "sigh"

We don't have an exact date for US, but it shouldn't be too much longer.

But, if it's a special case - maybe they will. When is Xbox Live updated, Tues or Thurs?

Yea, I noticed the last black ops patch was on a Wednesday so I was hoping I could be able to play NV today but guess not. As for xbox live I don't know never owned a box. I'd assume it'd be around the same time as PSN updated.
