Hi Bethesda!

The Evil Within is a great game, I'm loving it so far... but I hate the letterbox aspect ratio, I find those black bars so annoying!!!

They really are killing the experience to me... and I am sad because this is an amazing game....

I read that an official PC patch is coming, and that it will remove the black bars for the gamers that don't like them... this is a great option to insert!

Please Bethesda, give me an answer... think about it, many players on console want to remove them... I'm thinking to stop playing the game and wait for this patch...

The blackbars are a BIG mistake of devs and all of you at Betheda!

I've always buy bethesda's games with full trust for u and yours studio's qualities, and now im' very angry. Why there is a PC solution for this bars and none for ps4 users?

I buy this [censored]* game 70€ for playing like a letter trapped in a box?

And you don't take a minute to answer our questions? or better... WORK ON A PATCH!

We should have the choice to play with or without this bars, it's why i paid 70€, for choice and quality... You are responsible about the quality of the games you take under your licence!

It won't be quite so simple on console, the game runs like a dead dog on ps4, and that's with the bars. Without them it would be even worse. Having said that, before the day 1 update is applied, the game is horrific apparently, so it shows they knew what condition the game was in, and that they can at least do something. Now that they have confirmed a option for removing the black bars on pc, they probably have to do it on console now, it would be disgraceful if they didn't.
Personally I'm going to wait a few months to see if they a actually fix it and then get a 2nd hand copy, hopefully one with the huge multi gb patches included on it. I wonder how you go about identifying a 2nd/3rd run copy? There must be a way, no way I'm downloading those giant updates.

And so, thank u to sell me a game not finished... It's the watchdog horror scene il have lived in my computer, but now in my ps4. I always blame the people whose don't pay for videogames, because i think we need to pay to have good games for the future... But now i changed my mind...

Bethesda is a experimented video game seller, and have they have no pity to sell us game with framerate problem even when the support is a PS4... with billions of them are in all points similar!

Bethesda has a very, VERY long history of releasing unfinished games, there famous for it.

I know and you're probably right... but I'm asking for an official word from Bethesda...

They could say :"Sorry guys, we can't do anything. The patch for console is not possible" or they could say : "That is a possibility, we are thinking about it".

The complaints are not isolated, and they just announced a patch for PC... so they must spend some words fot the console users too... all their consumers deserve the same respect.

This silence towards a large segment of consumers is not acceptable...

When stuff like this happens I think of those Children In Need specials where they follow a kid who scavenges rocks for a living and suddenly my 'black bar' problems don't seem to be as much of a big deal.

If you set yourself to hate the game before you play it then... yer gonna hate it.

My advice, even if you don't want it... is play it... even though you don't want to.

You'll probably find you're able to enjoy the experience that the developers created.

You keep saying these things, why on earth would you think we haven't played the game? Have you played the ps4 version? If not then, you can't really bemoan us for complaining. And as they've confirmed an option to remove the bars from the pc version, it's only right they do the same for us console owners, we do pay more after all. If you like the bars, then you don't have to select the option, but we don't have that choice.
We donate to animal charities, and sometimes put into tins, depending on how forceful they are, they get short shrift if they push their luck.

Really!? That's all you have to say? Meanwhile I played through the game because it's not a bad one, that's right. But nearly every 10 minutes I've been reminded of the damn black bars. Sometimes you are not able to see if you are in the right position to collect an item, no immersion, no good view, bad performance and so on and all because of the black bars. Take a look at the poll!!! Nearly everybody who voted is against the black bars. If you also take a look on screenshots how TEW looks like on 21:9 screen everything is clear. You have bars on the left, right, top and bottom. That’s a joke and nothing more than saving performance that the game is playable at least a little. Without the black bars it wouldn’t be I’m sure of that. The same engine as Wolfenstein and in comparison it’s a complete disaster. The TEW team should never ever make a game again with that low skills wrt to the game engine!

It's happening. On PC. So the black bars are not a dogma for Bethesda. Not anymore.

This is not the core of the problem. At all. You are off topic.

First, yours is an advice, but it can not be applied to everyone.

The game is good, but without the black bars it will be infinitly better for many people.

Just offer an option to remove them.. people like you that love them, can play with the letterbox. Everybody will be happy.

Second, the patch can not be done for technical reasons? Ok, it is possible... but respect your customers and make a official statement about it.

They will remove the black bars on the PC, so they understood that many people don't enjoy the vision they created. It's not more a stance on artistic reasons.

This is not a topic to flame on the black bars.

It's a topic to put some questions to Bethesda. They will release an official patch for PC to remove those black bars, and the other customers that don't play on PC want to know.

I would love word on a patch. I'm surprised some people don't even mind the bars, considering it ruins the game for me. Just give us the option. I don't mind it running at low FPS. Hell, Deadly Premonition ran like ass on PS3 and I adore that game. I would much rather take a hit to framerate than have these bars distracting me 24/7.

I don't appreciate this [censored] bar, and i will not change my mind. It's not a choice, it's my opinion. And i'm very disappointed because I want to play this game! But NOT like this...
