Patch 1.01 works well for me, how about YOU?

Post » Wed Oct 07, 2009 10:26 am

Used to have to wear a cowboy hat to get into strip. Since patch, i removed hat and went into strip. No black out, no lock up. Now my character doesn't look artarded! Also no VATS lock up for me, and Miguels pawn shop is enterable (although, nothing of interest in there anyway lol), anyone else happy with the patch?

Come on, there has to be SOME people who can see the silver lining other than me.

The patch fixed some of the freezing issues for me..so I'll give props on that.. other than that, its not much of a difference. I hope more patches come out soon.

I haven't experienced many issues pre-patch except for a few quest bugs.

Replaying on 1.01 and still no issues. Not far enough to see the same quest bugs though.

Personally, if 1.01 doesn't fix the quest bugs I saw I'll just return the game and move on. This is the third Obsidian lemon I've picked up and I now know to stay away.

Unfortunately, the patch didn't help me. I'm still getting random freezes and crashes.

As a last resort, I'm moving my current saves over to memory stick, deleting everything and reinstalling NV in the hopes. As irritating as it is, I'm ditching (for now) my current character which has 65+ hours invested and starting completely over.

It's still doing the random "freeze for a fraction of a second" framerate hitch, no crashes though.

2 mins after i downloaded the new patch fallout froze my playstation. it has done it 2 more times since writing this. 3 in total... not happy....

before the patch fallout worked great for me. no freezing/crashing ever.

can i delete the new patch from my system?

couple of random issues:

- does chop now and then, for a split second. no big deal.
- vicki and vance casino, when you trade in your chips, they do not take your chips but they give you money and you can keep doing this. i got banned from the casino from winning to much but i still got my chips and i can go back over and over to get more money if needed. lol.
- a group of legion were stuck in a rock, they could shoot you and you could shoot them but still in the rock. was aiming at arms/legs and heads sticking out. lol
- after fast traveling or loading in, sometimes my char goes invisible ( has happened 3 times maybe). ppl can see you, you can see your weapon and everything works normal but your actual guy is invisable until i load up/go into building. lol.

Yes.
Delete the game data (NOT save data) and reinstall New Vegas while disconnected from the PSN.
Just remember that every time you play, you will have to be off line or the patch will install.

I'm not home at the moment but will be playing later. I can't remember, do you have to install a patch on a PS3? Can I say no and still play the game the way it was? Or do I have to go offline so it won't do it?

Thanks ...

didnt really have problems before, dont have em now.

i noticed they fixed the pawn shop door though. did they fix the raul/ranger andy thing? it still doesnt seem to be working.

EDIT:

so they fixed the black screen strip thing? so then its safe to do "the debt collector"?

and about the freezing/skipping, theres nothing they can do about that in a patch, shut the f**k up about it already people, and i mean that in the nicest possible way. between the size of the game, the age of the engine, and the size of your file (the bigger it gets, the more it happens) its bound to do that. they just need a new engine.

some advice though, if it freezes, press the PS button (and hold it) right away, this will often stop it from freezing completely. and if possible quickly save. whenever youre experiencing extreme lag for long periods of time, save the game. quit the game (quit it, dont go to the menu) and reload. no more lag....for now.

thats the best you can do til they get a new engine for these games

EDIT 2:

@ Ohbjuan i dont think you have to do it, it just kicks you off the web i think

Even if you are not connected to PSN it will still download if you have your Ethernet plugged in or wifi enabled because every time you power up your PS3 it connects to your modem/router which in turn makes it internet ready so when you start the game up it searches for any updates from Bethesda not PSN through the internet just like how you can use the PS3 web browser without being logged on to PSN. I hope that makes sense to you. So basically you have to disable wifi or disconnect Ethernet cable whichever you use every time you start the game up if you don't want the patch.

The patch did absolutely nothing for my copy (CA) of New Vegas. Actually, I shouldn't say that, load times are slightly faster. However, everything else remains: split second lock-ups in the Wasteland, full-on freezes at random times, and the annoying black-screen in the Strip. I seriously can't believe all of the issues with this game. How is it possible that I had experienced triple the problems with New Vegas in the first 3 hours of play than I did with Fallout 3 in 70+?

This patch ruined the game for me.. Now I can't look down a scope, gamble, pick a lock, or hack a computer without some freaky computer thing taking up my screen.

Try to uninstall then reinstall the game data to the HDD. I experienced the same weird "blank terminal" bug after entering Vault 22, but that fixed my problem.

No help for me
After the patch I still can't enter the strip - locked gates
Snipered one of the securitrons to get the key but still get the black screen since my old cowboy hat is 'broken" and I can't wear it.
Still random lockups
Still shows wrong parts list for the food processor repair mission (says 1 pot, reqs 2)
Etc etc
Can't tell that the patch changed anything other than making the door on the pawn shop work

so i uninstalled the patch and its back to normal for me. no freezing/crashing as of yet.

thanks for the help. did exactly what you said.

uninstalled the game data and didn't log into the psn. my wifi is still connected so i get a pop up every so often saying patch 1.01 is available but i just hit cancel and continue on my journey.

the pop up is annoying but its alot better than my playstation crashing.

hope they fix the patch. lol.

I haven't been able to test extensively, but from what I've seen the game seems to hang less frequently post-patch. There's still plenty of hitching while out meandering in the desert (have to assume on area transitions), and mods still apparently break pre-order weapons. I'll have to play a bit on lunch today and see how it goes.

It didn't seem to fix anything for me, except it crashes more now. Lt. Boyd still won't talk with me I pushed her to the locked door still nothing, left the building, entered the building now she's on the other side of the door with Silus and I can't talk to her or finish the quest. I crashed twice right after the patch last night, and I have about 15 minutes in to it today, went to Helios to collect items for the food processor locked up trying to go out to the solar panels to get into the tower it's still as I write this in the loading screen. A new game shouldn't do this, shame on you Bethesda.

I've had a bit of a lag when picking locks and loading times seem a bit longer. Outside of that I'm running OK. I should also note that I'm one of the lucky ones hardly having any issues.

Patch didn't make a blind bit of difference for me, it was laggy and freezing before and is exactly the same after.

I can't understand how the game is different for everybody? Surely we should all be experiencing the same issues?

Are you kidding me? That's one of the biggest problems this game has right now, and you're telling people to "shut the **** up about it"?

The game engine being old has nothing to do with the freezing, skipping or poor frame rate. If it was down to the engine then Oblivion and Fallout 3 would have had exactly the same problem, and they didn't. At least not on the same level that this game has.

People like you are part of the problem here. You've got people like me, who ARE experiencing bugs and who ARE willing to complain about them. Then you've got the people who are having no problems at all, and are quite happy to point that out. (Now annoying as that may be for me to have to hear, I know that it is necessary in that it let's Obsidian/Bethesda/whoever know that not everyone is experiencing the same problems). But then you've got people like you, who ARE experiencing bugs but ARE NOT complaining about them. People who are just willing to settle for a bug riddled game. Or even worse, play down it's problems.

So no. There's no reason that anybody should have to "shut the **** up" here. Especially with a problem this big. I mean seriously? Freezing every 20-30 feet in game for a second with roughly a one in ten chance of a complete crash, and you want people to "shut the **** up about it"? When did problems this big become acceptable?
