Nice find. I don't think it it's true. He also missed the ball with some of the game aspects. He says:
and assault soldiers can plant bombs, buff your weapon damage and generally absorb more punishment than the next guy

Soldiers cannot buff weapon damage, that's what the engineer does and soldiers can't absord more damage, that's just a heavier body type.
I don't know exactly, but I think his Q3 estimating is wrong.

About the disguise: It's probably not possible to steal disguises while you're target is still alive. You "take his clothes" and equip them. Wouldn't it be ridiculous when there's someone running around naked?

cheers, almost any news is good news

concerning absorbing damage, i guess he was relating to the "shielding" abilities of the soldier...

That's what he said in his article.
- One of the Soldier’s abilities is to shield another player. This basically attaches you to that player so that you're a turret moving with him. But when he takes damage, the damage applies to you.

This is a description of the shielding ability.

The shielding soldier will take damage dealt to the one he's shielding, but that still doesn't make him capable of taking MORE damage. That's still body-type related.
Maybe you will only take half the damage or something, I can't tell since I wasn't at PAX.

I have to admit though that there was so much going on, so much to learn, and so much to experiment with that I hadn’t fully grasped the overall objective of the level—something about escorting someone or some tank. I was far too busy playing around with the free-running, fully expecting to display acrobatics all over the place

I'm afraid that a lot of people will play more for the SMART system than for the actual objective. I understand that the guy was trying to do as much as possible in the time he could play.

+1

Just a little bit more info can become the next great point of discussion. I guess there will be a new developer diary tomorrow?

i agree with you but once people figure it out and probably after their first week for running around maps and doing stuff (once they get a hang of it and know all the routes) it will be business as usual.

This and what exactly did hea mean by engineers can throwdown "tempoarary" turrets? Does this mean engineer turrets will have a set life cycle? Now I am intrigued to know what he meant by this

Turrets can be hacked, damaged and I guess also destroyed. When the engineer deploys a new turret, the old one will disappear.

Fact. But still, the balancing they're doing is necessary.

I'm sure he means they can be blown up "temporary" unlike the ones in spawn which are invulnerable "permanent"

I know that i'm some newbie on the forums lol. From what he said it sounded like there was a shelf life to an engineers turrets by which I mean they quite working on there own after a period of time without any of the typical methods.
