My PAX demo experience (SPOILERS)

Post » Thu Sep 01, 2011 12:03 am

At night everything looks great. The moonlight adds a cool atmosphere.

Hi. Great review and interesting stuff to read. But can you elaborate more on the above? Does moonlight and weather influence night lighting at all (was the even a correct moon shadow?), or is it again a very modest dampening of landscape brightness with a darker sky? By "cool", do you mean "nice" or a coolness in color temperature? There is supposed to be a gentle "shift towards blue", although "blue for night" shots in movies tend to exaggerate it too much.

Sounds good and hope you had fun.

QUESTION: How are the Argonian tails? Did you notice any beast race specific animations?

Also, could you answer this guy's question, pretty please?

I know you said you can't recall any more perks, and I don't need a specific perk. But did you see any hand to hand perks of any kind, maybe under One or Two handed? If so please PM to me.

did it seem your stats were boosted? I sure hope so because destroying everything quickly is what we've heard from everyone. If they were not boosted, did you notice if it felt like they were going for high damage, short battles as opposed to drawn out ones.

From the sounds of your Shield spell description, I'm going to be very pleased. Having an actual shield like barrier makes for some excellent tactical use of dual magic and one-hand and magic. It also makes weapon and magic a pretty decent defensible choice when coupled with some spells we've already seen like "circle of protection" turn undead spell and the explodey frost rune on the ground. Thanks for that, it helped make my morning!

In response to the questions that jumped out at me this morning...

I didn't notice any special animations with the argonian, but like I said, I was overwhelmed and not looking for that. I would assume there is.

As far as the game being easy or me destroying everything, I saw lots of people die. I came very close to death when I was ambushed by the bandits, and had to use 3 of my 5 health potions. Difficulty slider may have been lowered to make it easy but no way of being sure.

Somebody asked about how it looked at night. What I meant by a cool atmosphere is that snowy mountains are cool at night. And no maybe the moonlight wasn't perfect, but it seemed better than oblivion in all aspects. It was actually a little difficult to see but I'm used to playing with night-eye on.

Also something else I forgot was that the dark elf's inherent ability "Ancestors Wrath" is no longer a summon, but instead surrounds them in a cloak of fire. Not sure whata that does exactly as I played argonian but it sounds cool :D

Thanks for answering the flower picking question on the other thread. Can you tell me if you took salmon or insects and what if any the animation was like for that?

Was there a potion drinking animation?

No first person animation for either. I wasn't in 3rd person for long. Also the potions were instant health potions and I used them from the menu. Much like oblivion there, but that doesn't matter to me. Trust me this game is everything you want it to be.

If you could persuade someone to pick some ingrediants and see if it gets removed from the game world that would be great!

No worries. Its not a big issue for me . Just a bonus feature I would have liked. One final question from me. When you took the fish. Did you happen to look in the inventory and see the whole salmon. Or was it like just the fillet like in the demo?

Any examples of the spell school perks would be appreciated.

A complete list of the Altmer and Breton racial abilities/passive bonuses would also be cool.

ahh I'm totally loving Ancestor's Wrath more so than the summon ancestral ghost. I'm betting 10 bucks the new ability comes with a description detailing the racial ability change to the wrath of fire after Vvardenfell's demise.

GiantMudcrab, you are a credit to the team.

Can you look into racial bonuses and racial specific animations maybe? It's low priority so do whatever you gotta do.

Check out NPC interaction and interacting with objects and stuff like smithing or alchemy or something Stop and smell the roses so to speak and check out the little details.
