Since it's just a crappy copy of the E3 launch video, it hardly counts as 'news' :)

Yes, but the entire team doesn't work on DLC. I mean while I'm not for a moment suggesting they're all just sitting around twiddling their thumbs at the moment they surely have SOME free time to spare to put together a good old Todd Howard gameplay commentary video.

That takes like three people and an hour or so to make, not anything close to approaching the entire team.

So.,.. can you point out where I said the entire team was working on DLC?

Don't need to be a moderator to point out where he's wrong.

They had the gameplan for Morrowind written before they even started on Daggerfall. They had Skyrim penned before Oblivion was finished. You see?

I'm referring to the fact that DLC discussions have little to do with the topic we are commenting on. And the fact I wanted to nag you guys to take the discussion into its own thread. Yes I saw where it originated from but it seems like it would be much more useful and productive in it's own thread. So we can keep this one dedicated to discussion about PAX.

I Trust Summer and the others will step in if needed though.

Oh yeah, I mean I knew they planned future games a good amount in advance. But I don't think they do that for DLC. Most of the non-story stuff we saw for Skyrim's DLC was shown in the post-release gamejam reel they put out, like vampirism/lycanthropy improvements, building your own house, etc. Nothing of Oblivion's DLC aside from maybe Shivering Isles smells of "planned in advance", and they've talked about how the DLC model for Fallout 3 felt really exhausting and unrewarding for them, hence why they tried something different with Skyrim.

Hell, for Oblivion they all but admitted that they really didn't know how to approach DLC. Didn't they actually apologize for Horse Armor? Fallout 3 sort of hinted at some DLC planned in advance, with mentions of the Pitt and the Anchorage campaign.

lol, whoops. You're right. On PAX, there's no indication that Bethesda's doing any major presentation or anything. But I hope they drop the first SPECIAL video, or release the Quakecon/Gamescom presentation to the public. Or something. The forums are getting boring, we need something new to chew over. :P

That's understandable, but you'll be able to get that info from various sources after the game comes out, why do you need it right now?

EDIT: someone said this already, my mistake

You do realize that making press demos would have absolutly no impact on bug fixing.

I assure you a team the size of BGS does not have their PR guys working on big fixes.

This is the exact same argument every Dev uses to justify working on DLC prior to launch.

You have to understand a studio does not have 100 generic developers who can all animate, write script, fix bugs, and draw concept art.

The fact is that Todd Howard does not believe in showing anymore than absolutly nessissary. It is simply how BGS operates.

Am I lost? I thought this thread was for info from PAX. :ermm:

How about we talk about that in this thread and have the off topic discussion in a thread of it's own. :deal:

Thanks Summer :-)

Frankly, I'm really disappointed with BGS not having anything to speak of at PAX Prime here in Seattle. They totally blew the doors out with Skyrim in 2011, letting people actually play the game for 15-20 minutes.... Not sure why they've dissed us... lot nicer crowd than the one in Texas.. Maybe they figured we'd be cell filming everything??

At this point, and I hope the momentum changes soon, there's been a definite lull in promoting the game. It if weren't for the art book image caps, there would be nothing since the gamescom interviews.

I expect some TV commercials during Monday Night Football. And maybe something new to be shared when our forum moves. (btw, I'm guessing and have no reason to really expect or think that) I'm just guessing.

You know who was really bad about pre-release spoilers? Bioware with Mass Effect 3. I remember reading about that game and learning how about 20% of the game's story went months before the game came out

We were really hoping for some good news or at least the old recorded presentations. :(

To my knowledge, Bethesda.net is going to take over and start fresh with some completely new forums and these will be archived. I'm not sure what the exact timeline of events on that look like, but it'll happen over the course of a few months I think.
