pay to play a bad idea.

First of all your math is absolutely terrible.

Second, there are other p2p games that are doing quite well, cough cough WoW.

Third, having it p2p turns away some of the idiots.

People want everything for free. Heaven forbid you actually pay for a product.

Bad anology tbh.

Think of it this way.

$60 for the game pays for the developers that created it and i believe a percentage goes to the publisher.

$15 for the monthly fee keeps the servers running, pays the bills, and keeps the developers creating content.

But by a lot of people they want the monthly fee eliminated. So who's going to pay the bills for the game?

Not a good anology at all, seeing as how an MMO undergoes constant changes with additional content and gameplay mechanics being added by the live team of developers, and that shirt you bought only wears out over time.

I don't really have an issue with subscription fees themselves. But I have had a recurring experience with sub-based games where I've paid for several months straight and nothing gets added to the game I am paying for.

That is why it will be my practice in MMOs going forward to only renew my subscription when the developers can actually be bothered to release new content. If they want my money every month, then I want new product every month.

I think some people need to understand that you can't really go comparing MMOs to SP in terms of price, as MMOs generally have a LOT more content in them and the need for constant updates. They also have a lot more replay value.

Judging by the character names being used in the currently F2P beta, I think it should cost $30 a month.

Not to mention the hardware that is required to run fast and stable with the amount of users logged in, etc.

Dude you spend more money buying 1 bottle of water a day. $600 a year is nothing.

OP.....it's not that much.

50 cents per day after initially buying the game. 50 CENTS TO PLAY FOR AS LONG AS YOU WANT, EVERY DAY.

When I first started playing video games, it was 25 cents per game. Your game would last for 5 or 10 minutes on average.

If you can't afford it don't play....or find a way to make an extra 50 cents per day (try looking in the couch cushions and uner the

floor mats in your car. Just stop whining.)

I would like to take a trip to Hawaii every winter but I can't afford it. Too bad for me.

You're buying a shirt that is being maintained daily for faults, tears, and rips. Also that shirt is updated regularly with new designs and features.

Things in life cost money. MMOs constantly grow, that expense comes from somewhere.

It's not the same thing at all. Do some research on all of the things needed to run an MMO and keep it going.

Some of us prefer quality MMOs and will gladly pay 50 cents a day to help support the game, that also means new content coming in quicker than it would a F2P/B2P game.... Some of them don't even bring out new content and if they do it usually takes years...

It seems like they make just enough money from cash shops just to get by so you don't really see much new content, that's what I got from SWTOR developers when asked if we would see new player stories and they said "it's too costly" so I guess they're making just enough money to keep the game running, it's like a life support system, it's a bad model too yet people think it's the way of the future... Either they are clueless and don't know what they're talking about or really love something about P2W garbage games.

There are no good f2p/b2p games out there and if there are then go play those, you should be set and you don't need ESO. Or if you wanted a new elder scrolls game then you can wait for the next single player game to come out.

Wow, movies are dirt cheap where you live. Where I live a single ticket can set me back $10-15. Just for the ticket. One ticket. Don't get me started on food and drinks.
