pay to play a bad idea.

I pay 60 dollars on the game then pay 15 a month,Thats 300 dollars a year to play one game.Right off the start you have 360 dollars in the game.Gaming needs to be affordable and practical. This game is doomed to failure.

$15 A Month is pretty much as affordable as it gets for a hobby like this as well as entertainment value.

I don't see how it's $300. The $60 is only a one-time payment for the game and monthly is 15 × 12 = $180.

Must be new to MMO's. They have been $10-$15 a month for over 15 years. There's no doom in the future because of it. The only doom comes from devs not focusing on the game or trying to make it into something it doesn't need to be to try to attract more people.

It's one of the cheapest forms of entertainment you can get. Go to a movie and by the time you're in, get snacks and a drink, and sit down you've spent $15 at least and then you get 2 hours of entertainment.

Just don't ever trace back the amount of money you've dumped into any so called "Free 2 Play" game you've liked. You'll cry.

Right along with the other comments... Free to Play with BUY THIS!!! BUY THIS!!! BUY THIS!!!!! Is way worse than $15 a month. Often, they will do 6month and 1year memberships at a discount as well. $10 or $12 a month for a year is really really better than FtP!

Don't wanna pay? Don't get too play.

I'm curious how adding up the cost for a year subscription is also ' right from the start ' when we only have to pay per month.

Also, obligatory mentioning of:

Only 50 cents a day
keeps focus on game instead of cash shop
Par for the course for mmos
Etc etc.

I see what you mean. You never truly own the game though and look at all that money over the years.I relize its entertainment.I cant see buying a game then paying for the privilege of playing it.At least with a hard copy I can play it whenevr I want and buy it once.

60 bucks plus another 180 bucks per year might seem unfair, but then you need to think about what you are getting.

For the $60 you get a massive game with hundreds of hours of gameplay. For the $15/month you get large and frequent content updates and excellent customer service.

If you don't want to pay $15 per month for new content, then all you have a single player game. Maybe a single player games are better for you.

TL:DR: In life, there is no free lunch.

Well let me put it a different way in case you are new to MMO's. The money is used to keep funding the game plain and simple. They keep a dedicated staff working on the game for the entire life of the game. That means they have to pay developers, artists, voice actors, janitors, and anyone else needed. They also have to pay for an office space and its utilities. Need to pay for the servers and everything for housing where we play the game since one persons internet connection cannot host for thousands of people too reliably I would think. I believe they've stated they plan to release content patches every month or every other month. This would be the equivalent of a DLC for single player or plain multiplayer games. A lot of those that have any sort of new content usually run $15-$30.

So basically the $15 a month goes towards paying for all that so they can keep maintaining the game and adding to it for many many years. Rather than buying the game for $60. Paying $80 for DLC's over the next year. Then the year after releasing a whole new game for another $60 and repeating.

Another one that doesn't understand a basic sub model, such as those used since the dawn of MMO.
