Pay Your Respects To The Game

All hail Oblivion. The best game ever made, yes it has it's flaws and yes it maybecould have had more stuff in it, but theres something seriously organic and great about cyrodil that keeps me coming back.My favourite game to date.

I believe it increases when another person clicks the "alert" sign beneath your portrait.

Not quite. The "warning" refers to a warning by a moderator. We get three warnings. On the fourth we are banned. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/page__p__10470844&#entry10470844

I found out about the game though YouTube. One of the videos for you jobbies. This was also the first time I'd ever heard about the Elder Scrolls series as a whole. I watched a few videos of it and decided to get the game. Like a few other people I had a "WHOA" moment when I came out of the sewers. I went in my own direction and thats how I fell in love with TES.

To the OP, sounds like you are having problems with Vampirism. Eat a mandrake root, or a cure disease potion, or cast a cure disease spell, or visit a chapel altar, immediately after dealing with vampires. If you contract the disease, it takes effect over three days, and then when you sleep you will have the disease. And I know, as well as you, that there is no cure for PS3 users. So watch the upper left corner of your screen when doing battle with vampires. Or check the active effects menu for your person. If Drain Fatigue is present, don't go to sleep. Go cure yourself.

Yes, I love Oblivion too.

Oblivion may not be THE best game around but it's certainly up there and it's possibly the most entertaining single-playing experience I've ever had.

To me, Oblivion is about "your ultimate game". Doing the things you want, your way, whenever and wherever you want. A lot of folks critique it for being a little TOO loose but it's something I really enjoyed. I think there's a strong balance between gameplay and role-play that is unparalleled to any other games.

One of the first mods I made for Oblivion was a mod that removed extended view distance from the game.

Is there a reason why you didn't just turn off the "view distance" option?

I came to Oblivion backwards from most of the players here. What I mean by that was that I had never played Oblivion until this Spring. I got Fallout 3 shortly after it's release and played it for over a year and literally 1000's of hours before it just got too stale and I began losing interest. However, I began wondering what all the hoopla about Oblivion was as this forum was still every bit as active (maybe more active!) than the FO3 forums were. So I bought the whole package off of Steam.

I knew going in that melee combat did not interest me in the least, so my mindset was more on the adventure aspect of the game than the combat. Fortunately, there are alternatives to melee that I have grown to love now! (I mostly play a stealthy archer who loves destruction spells.)

I longed for that feeling of awe and wonder that I experienced the first time I left Vault 101 and saw the world for the first time, and Oblivion certainly delivered that and more! I remember just turning left from the sewers and walking along the bank there just taking all of it in. It was quite amazing, especially when I saw my first little family of White Tail's frolicking along in the grass and flowers. Unfortunately a couple of Bandits spotted me and ruined that little moment, lol.

It's been a joy playing this game just as FO3 was to me. In many ways they are so similar that I experience many of the same "vibes" or whatnot from both. I'm looking forward to many more hours of both games until FO-New Vegas and TES5 comes out! And much thanks goes out to Bethesda for creating these games that have brought me so many hours of fun and entertainment. It's been the best gaming dollars I've ever spent and I've gotten my money's worth many, many times over!

it def is a good game.Fallout 3 is good also because come on its the end of the world lol.the only downfall is using guns and you cannot treat it like a shooter because you always run out of bullets.I still couldent figure out wat armors better enclave or brotherhood. But that dident. stop me from beating the game lol.

I hadn't heard much of the game back about...3 years ago, but when my step-dad bought it for me and my brother to play, I just fell in love XD

One of the reasons is I like a good fantasy game...It's hard to find a GOOD fantasy game these days, 'cause...most of 'em are svcky Japanese RPG's, and I'm not such a vigilant follower of said genre.

I love the distinct medieval setting of the game; the weapons, armor, shoot, even the horses! The cities and castles, houses made of brick, wood, ANYTHING but metal and clay. XDD I LOVE IT! It'd be nice, though, if there were actual dragons in the game, and not just Gods or statues take their form :/

I LOVE...the characterization of races. Lizard and cat-people? Really? AWESOME! And elves :3 Who can't hate the pointed-eared, almond-eyed, short-tall-dark-statured race? I just wish I used 'em more than Argonians XDD

I love the landscapes!...As everyone else here does, I love the broad landscapes, different varying areas upon the map, whether it be the Great Forest, the plains of the Gold Coast, or the frigid crest of the Jerall Mountains. And let's not forget the Shivering Isles. I love going there at nighttime in Mania to see the magenta-ridden twilight...XD Brings a tear to me every time I see it...notreally...

I love the main enemies! Daedra have certainly caught my interest, 'specially the Dremoras. Being able to summon them is a ++ for me, too! Have my trusty Clannfear and Daedroth at my side, ready for battle! >:3

There's so much more I can love about the game, but I'd keep going and killing room in this thread XDD

It is a very special game.

It was the first open world- next gen draw distance of its kind..

but I think the fantasy genre itself is a very majestic, etherial thing.. this is why fallout 3 is good but not special. Fantasy is more based in imagination and wonder. And there is a certain romantisism over using a sword with a name, over a shotgun you found off a dead grunt.

Fantasy is full of high morals, honour, respect, dignity, nobility, courage etc.... they do not shine through so much in a sci fi setting.

I love that its a good game from a great series, one who's company is still in production.
That has a very nice friendly fan base, good support and an extremely large modding community.
So thats why I lurve Oblivion.

Other than that i have to say that Oblivion is far off quest wise as giving more variety and i personally felt the main quest in oblivion was better by far but i do wish they at least put the flames out and had a quest to rebuild Kvatch (i know there is a mod but the developers should of known seeing Kvatch being useless would kinda tick people off) but my only problem with Kvatch is really i wanted to see what it looked like before the invasion. I still think Oblivion is better but I wish it had more paths you couldn't turn back from like in Morrowind how you could join House Haalu but then not House Rederan like i kinda want to join the evil guys just saying i wish you had more effect on the game all together instead of what fells kinda like minor stuff

Whether it was a hard drive failure (as Bethesda claims) or whether Micro$oft was involved somehow to reduce Oblivion's content so it didn't have to fit onto 2 DVDs (where it could still fit onto 1 BlueRay) we may never truly know. Apparently at some point Bethesda had made more content where Kvatch supposedly got rebuilt, you become the Count/ Countess of Kvatch, and Cyrodiil had an extra city named Sutch. Bethesda claims that was lost in a hard drive crash, but I have to question the competency of such a large and renowned company to make such a foolish mistake. You'd think they'd have proper backups of their projects.

This is why i dont think pc games should be console games they have different standards as size go i think they should of just had two versions the pc with more stuff and the console with a reduced amount tho that would cause mass complaining as far as console players go but i have always felt TES was a pc game kinda like RTS shouldnt be on console but thats just my opinion still glad tho they didnt get rid of the CS that worried me when they put Morrowind on the xbox. Kept on thinking they would get rid of it to make it "fair" but i guess you cant really get rid of the CS

It's not a console thing. It's a Microsoft thing. PS3s use Blu-ray. The only platform restricting game size is the 360, and Microsoft, being more in Bethesda's favor, can't have the PC and PS3 versions being better than the 360 version.

Have you done the Dark Brotherhood quest line yet? I haven't done it myself but I hear it's one of the best quest lines in the game.

I also love the Brush With Death quest. That tickles me every time.

::EDIT:: Here's a listing of all the quests in the game: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Quests

If you're on PC, look at my http://www.clandlan.net/foros/index.php?showtopic=48562 (it's in spanish, but you just can click the titles and download them). As I said, they're so good that if you don't play them, you're just wasting your money.

Go to Cheydinhal, and ask about rumors, someone mentions a famous painter has gone missing. As for Faelian:
Spoiler
he sleeps few hours every night at the Tiber Septim hotel, just hang around in the lobby and wait for him to show up.

I'd imagine if you have the quest he's there, not sure tough. I completed the Unfriendly Competition quest earlier which makes Thoronir like you, so he told me about Faelian without persuading him.
