Pay Your Respects To The Game

Personally I love the elder scrolls 4 and i never even played any of the other ones but oblivion just has something special about it.1st off i like that its an rpg 2 that its an open world RPG and the fact that once you get out of prison(the tutorial) they say go ahead and explore the world on your own."Good Luck".The graphics on it are amazing the detail and the face you can see things from miles away. The fun part of the game to me is just going into little hidden spots such as caves shrines etc and finding more about the game such as quests or journals. Most of all though i love the fact that the game has its own history like the main quest where you go through some cave and find a dead body thats over 1000 years old! Another example is the big dragons claw statue that your use as a landmark on a main quest. The only real downfall to the game is that stupid disease vampirism and i hate the fact that people say that its fun to have because ITS NOT! lol.Feel free to follow along and complement the game or hate on it.Explore the world on your own "Good Luck" lol.

Hmm, well I can't complain too much about Oblivion, except perhaps that it failed to fully deliver in some parts. The 'demonic invasion' is the whole draw card but when Kvatch is the only city destroyed, it kills the vibe.
Yeah sure there are gates everywhere but the Daedra just stay near the gate anyway.

Aside from that, I fell in love with the game the first time I exited the sewers and saw those mountains in the background. I just wanted to run, run and explore, find everything i could and breath in the whole experience.

I wish there had been more variety in caves/dungeons and their enemies, but that's really only a minor complaint.

The draw distance is good too and the views are spectacular. Go to Cloud Top in the morning and look out over the Imperial City and feel the goosebumps down your spine. Magical.

There is *still* nothing else quite like it. Four years on, or so. That says a lot (to me).

Beautiful, wonderful, magical game. Thank you, Bethesda!

...the face you can see things from miles away...

Among the things you mention in your post, this is the one thing that I did not like. I thought Oblivion's near-infinite view distance looked horrible. Seeing White Gold tower from almost everywhere in Cyrdiil made the game world look very small to me. One of the first mods I made for Oblivion was a mod that removed extended view distance from the game.

I like almost everything else about Oblivion, though. I love roaming around the game world. I can explore for hours. I am one of the few players who think Cyrodiil is actually an improvement over Vvardenfell. I particularly love roaming all over the Gold Coast. I love the game's physics, Radiant AI, skill perks, the improved sneak system....the list could go on.

I still play it and I still enjoy it and I'm sure I will enjoy playing it for many years to come...even after TES 5 comes out.

At the moment, everyone compares Morrowind to Oblivion.

In a few years, what will happens is everyone will compare Oblivion to Skyrim/TESV.

The Elder Scrolls V, or TES V/5

Morrowind is pretty fun, and the first two Elder Scrolls games are available as free downloads from the official Elder Scrolls website, if you're interested. Anyway, "TES" is just short for "The Elder Scrolls".

I love Oblivion because its looks so good graphically and the fact that you control when you can block (pretty sure it was by chance in morrowind) to me i think Oblivion fixed alot of things and made it better than Morrowind but the one thing that i like/dislike is the fast travel system to me that just makes you less likely to explore it also makes Cyrodil feel not so fast i remember playing Morrowind and having to walk to get to a dock so i could get to dragonfel (i think that is what it is called) that made things feel so much larger but on the other hand the fast travel makes to you dont always have to do some annoying traveling or deal with a travel system that can get confusing.
Other than that i have to say that Oblivion is far off quest wise as giving more variety and i personally felt the main quest in oblivion was better by far but i do wish they at least put the flames out and had a quest to rebuild Kvatch (i know there is a mod but the developers should of known seeing Kvatch being useless would kinda tick people off) but my only problem with Kvatch is really i wanted to see what it looked like before the invasion. I still think Oblivion is better but I wish it had more paths you couldn't turn back from like in Morrowind how you could join House Haalu but then not House Rederan like i kinda want to join the evil guys just saying i wish you had more effect on the game all together instead of what fells kinda like minor stuff

I see what you mean about Kvatch. It wouldl be nice if they also put in more cinematic s in the game especially during the main quest the only 1s i ever noticed were the intro(awesome by the way) and the ending where something happened with a huge fire dragon ( i dont know i fell asleep lol) i got major mad tho when all i ahd to do was pick up the imperal dragon armor on my super awesome lvl 11 warrior(hey its a high lvl to me) and i got the vamp sickness and could go around to the other side of the mage tower to grab it so i was screwed. It seems like every time i make a character on oblivion(PS3 Version) i get that sickness and i can never get the quest completed.Sorry to get off track there but i hate that sickness but it dont stop me from playing the game lol i love it and always will.So as you were saying about the travel system in TES 3 about habing to go to boats to travel is it somewhat similar to final fantasy 11 or WoW?Because if it is i really think thats a better way than fast travel because when i play it on PS3(oblivion) or PC it takes a min for the loading screens so alot of my time is wasted at screens where as in TES 3 it would be worth the wait to sit at a loading screen.

We don't know anything about TES V, yet, but it's only a matter of time until we get it. In the general Elder Scrolls section, there's a speculation thread that may interest you. We know that Bethesda has been making a game for two years and it's most likely TES V, but we don't know for sure. Whatever it is(and I'm also almost completely sure it is TES V), it's going to be out for this generation of consoles and Bethesda has enough of it finished to show it off, but for some reason, they still haven't announced it. They've also stated that the time between this new game's announcement and this new game's release will be significantly shorter than that of any previous Elder Scrolls games. I'm pretty sure it's close to being announced, though, and I can't wait.

Bethesda is typically very secretive. When they do show us something, they will have plenty to show. They never reveal a game with nothing to show about it. On top of what I already said, Bethesda has also had the name "Skyrim" trademarked since 2006, so it's highly likely that the next game will take place in Skyrim.

Thats good to keep in mind,I looked at the oblivion map that came with the game even tho its a greatest hits and its not worth anything lol.And skyrim is toward the top so TES series keeps all theyre stuff in the area I like that if only you could see the imperial city in skyrim at a certain point.Which brings me to my next question. Is there any part on oblivion that is from another TES series game my bro told me that the arena poster is from TES 3.

TopNotchPlayer, you might want to take a look at the Oblivion Wiki. Most of your questions can be answered there (including the one on mods): http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion

to me oblivion was a thrill from beginning through every quest because of the graphics and detail. oblivion is better than morrow wind except for the levitation being banned or illegal i can't remember but at least they put some info about it not being available to the character at some point. that is what i went in search for in the beginning i wanted to find a levitate scroll or potion and get to a high peak of a mountain then just a bit higher ;) but i cannot complain as when you take the time to climb and jump over the obstacles and finally reach it by foot and then you turn to see that familiar tower from the imperial city. and you can see this tower from most points it neat to be able to look from one mountain across to another and then actually go there too totally open world. it's really neat to see a game where you create the story. to be honest it has been an odd game for me to play not like any other.

I believe it increases when another person clicks the "alert" sign beneath your portrait. I suppose when it hits 100 you get your account cancelled.

Most folks around here seem well behaved, which is more than I can say for some forums I've been to.

What are mods? Are they cheat codes?Hacks?Illegal bootlegged copy's of games? lol

Mods are "Modifications" to the game. People "mod" a game when they feel they could improve it. In the case of oblivion, it is possible to "mod" the game in a physcial way eg; add caves, add people, add stores, add new weapons, and also in a code-based way eg Changing the damage you take, changing what eating a berry will do.

Mods are found on different websites; I use http://www.tesnexus.com

They are made using a variety of different programs. Find more out here : http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Main_Page
And before you ask, CS means "Construction Set" the tool used to Mod Oblivion. Find it here :http://elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_utilities.htm
And also at http://www.elderscrolls.com you can find patches and wallpapers.

If you find us all referring to it, the http://www.uesp.net is the Unofficial Elder Scroll Pages, a Wiki devoted to the entire TES series.

I hope that answers most of your questions.
