[WIP] Pegasus Estate

...and I'm not running like Dagoth Ur is right behind me so you can actually see things!

Heh. :ahhh:

Love the opening chests and cabinets. Nice.

Actually I like everything except for the dojo as I'm a boring puritan. But it's one of the optional add-ons, right?

The seethrough window is awesome. Does the estate have more of those?

Also, if I understand correctly the estate is placed in an interior, right? Guess that's because of potential conflicts? Personally, I'm not to keen on exteriors as interiors as I find it a bit immersion breaking (as in, where is this place).

I love the opening chest too, I'm using http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7402' and http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4545's chests.

The dojo is indeed an addon you can build ingame. I have been hesitating between keeping my dojo (I've had it since my very first house) or more of a thief training ground. I suppose I could give the PC the choice, it's just a matter of changing a bit of dialogue and script.

All the windows are seethrough, some doors will be as well.

Right now, the Pegasus grounds are indeed an interior cell. There are so many mods that add an island here and there that conflicts are bound to happen. IDEA: we need an interactive map like http://www.uesp.net/maps/mwmap/mwmap.shtml where modders can mark their houses/buildings, somethink like a WIKI map!

Back on topic: the Estate is in the Grazeland ( I feel this region is neglected compared with others), the very begining of the video 'please step in (and out) starts in the Grazeland. My main concern is that the Estate is in a lush forest that would fit better in the Ascadian region, but so many houses ahve been placed there already!

Right now I'm working on the Lady's suite. The style will be the same as the screenshot I posted in the OP. The main features of this room are:
- balcony on the Pegasus Grounds
- boudoir
- en suite bathroom with scripted bath (after you have hired the maid)
- dressing where clothes apprear on the shelves as you gather them.
- door to the Lord's appartment and secret door to a guest room. (a Lady likes to have options)

I'll make a video when I'm done.

OK, but won't there be a conflict "immersion wise" if another mod adds to the same area anyway? Also, what happens if you levitate over the area - won't it be empty then? But I guess there are other advantages such as the see through windows.

The dense forest in the Grazeland is much smaller that the Pegasus Grounds themselves right now. That reduces the chances of conflicts, bu you're right, it's not a cure either. Conflict for conflit I might as well put the Estate when I wanted it: outside and in the Ascadian Isles and hope that there won't be too many conflicts or that people would choose my mod over whatever other mods conflicts with it.
As for the see through windows, I can work around the problem ;)

*Back to the drawing board, gonna try some things*

Arkngt, thanks for your feeback and comments :)

Looking forward to all that. :) I actually liked the pool (a lot, and especially the waterfall) and the dojo, though the walls in the armory seemed a trifle repetitive. I did not notice if the dojo statue was a Buddha, Buddhisatva, etc, but you might want to make it an appropriate god or saint for the game. Just a thought, though I could live with it being otherwise.

I'm glad you like the pool, it's one of the few rooms I've always kept in all my houses :)
Your remak about the statues has reminded me that I still don't have a chapel/temple... I'll leave the Buddha in the dojo but the PC will have the choice between getting the Asian still dojo or the 'undetermined' style training facility.

I'm almost done with the Lady's suite, here are some screens, this is the no clutter version so all tables/ shelves are empty.

http://s656.photobucket.com/albums/uu289/Danae123123/?action=view¤t=ladysuite.jpg
http://s656.photobucket.com/albums/uu289/Danae123123/?action=view¤t=bathroom1.jpg

As promised, the windows are seethrough, I'll be sure to show them in the video (coming soon!)
There is no balcony, though, miscalculation on my side, the balcony is on the 3rd floor. Ah, I'm being very rigourous about keeping the exterior and interior of the house match.

Next on the list is the Lord's apartment. It will be a lot more sober than the Lady's but will have its own unique features.
- bathroom (no flowers there!)
- study area
- bar area
- open fireplace (in the middle of the room)
- hidden compartment for gold and precious documents
- secret passage to the guest room next door (Well, Lords like to have options too)

Personally, I think interior-exterior cells are a great option for housing mods and sadly under-utilized. (Infact I'm an advocate of almost all Oblivion housing mods taking advantage of them to avoid conflict with others/radiant AI. "I say old chap, I want to go work in the fields but someone appears to have put a house on them! I suppose I'll just walk against the house for five hours till I get bored and go home to eat food!")

It also allows you to landscape the area surrounding your house (I really like your estate grounds, reminds me of some Oblivion towns) to your heart's content and allows the player to spend some time outside of their house without feeling they've left their property.

Sadly, I don't think there's truely any area in Morrowind where your cell would match perfectly, it's just too barren a land. So I wouldn't worry about it too much, Grazeland's as good as anywhere else.:)

Looking forward to you completing this!

After some testing, I foud out that the fps is better in a real exterior cell so that tip the balance in favour of a real exterior.
I've added trees and plants and rocks and I'm quite pleased with the result. The Estate is now on an island way of the Azura coast. Oh, I've added docks too and being able to use different ground textures was nice as well.
I've kept my interior/exterior cell for some of the see through windows.

It's beautiful. Both grand and cosy at the same time. I'm not a huge fan of too much non-vanilla resources as it should feel like a part of the world IMO, but Pegasus seems to strike a nice balance regarding that.

So when looking through a window from inside the house the surrounding exterior is an interior, but when outside the exterior is an exterior?

Thanks :)
There are so many great resources out there it's hard to use just a few.
As for the windows, well it depends... some of them have a view on a fake interior (the loo and the gardener's cottage and the workshop) while others, like the lady's suite have a massive semi-sphere right outside the window. It's a method used by Phaedrus in his Mudcrab Island mod ( he actually has windows that you can open to admire the view!). Before that I used to put giant flat square but it didn't look as good :)

I'll post screens of the Lord's chambers in a couple of days.

Looking great, Danae.
I have a suggestion for your bathrooms. You probably already know, but http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=4405 has lots of beautiful stuff for bathrooms, and can be used as a resource.

And I love the script you have there for making items appear in Dongle's glass display case when put them in the chest. Very cool!

Thank you!
Yes, I love Korana's bath shoppe and pretty much everything she's ever made: it's been a struggle to try and NOT use too many of the very beautiful things she's made.

Glad you liked the clothes in Dongle's display cases, the script is a modified version of the one in http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2799

The pool table is a retexture of http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3178, and the curtains as well as the vanity in the Lady's suite are from http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7838

Sorry for OT, but I just checked out Mudcrab Island and the second floor is amazing. The windows, the lighting, the cabinet - didn't even know such things were possible. So wow.

No worries, Mudcrab Island blew my mind away, I loved the animated containers (the bedroom cabinet!), the views and the longboat in particular.

Did you mean the wooden floor everywhere or the special squares under the pool table and in the bathroom?

I mean the pale wood floor in the pool room and the bedroom. Hard to tell from screens, of course, but they look a bit IKEA. Guess its partly the effect of their "tiling". But I have no idea what resources there are so I can give no alternative.

I am a VERY big fan of the other mod (the one with the trading cards) made my game a lot better...so to be honest..based off of that alone I can't wait to see this. This has gotten me excited.

This wood floor is from a tileset I made a while back but I do have an alternative, I can use Korana's rich floor form her furniture pack (it's the same texture as the floor under the pool table without the ornament). I'll try that in the CS and then post new screens.
Thanks a bunch for all your feedback, I've made some changes for the better thanks to it .

Finally got back home where my ever faithful CS waited for me!

The Lord's chamber is pretty much done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYiGHzrLnwY.

Mannequins and display cases are scattered around the Estate but I've made a display hall with more of them.
Its features are:
-more mannequins
-more display cases
-super easy to use weapon displays, really good if you don't use weapon rotate or don't want your shiny blades to lie on a table.
-storage area
Here's the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWN2PlyHcOs.

Looks wonderful! Really neat weapon displays. I love hidden areas so those ones are really cool as well. I'm wondering about one thing. Most house mods with mannequins add both Male and Female ones. Wouldn't it be better to have two versions of the esp, one with only Female mannequins and one with only Male ones? Of course, that might perhaps just be me.

Thanks :) About the steam: no idea... I'll have a look in the Cs if all the steams are this fast, if yes, hum, might have to improvise :)

Thank you! Seeing that there are some male only and female only outfits, I like to have both so I can display what I cannot wear ;) Anyway, the mannequins are (re)movable and the storage has a crate with another dozen of them so hopefully that will cover everybody's needs.

Next I'll be working on the *pauses to think* training area (divided into fighter, thief and mage sections). Planned features are:
- working practice dummies and targets
- summoning area (with the help of the spellweaver from staff agency, you'll be able to summon creatures to fill your soul gems)
- lockpick and probe maker
- obstacle race (like in a military camp, just a idea, still have to give it a try... should have: pitfalls, enemies to sneak by/kill, ladders to climb...)

I'll keep you informed :)

Is this going into an outdoor cell now? Rather than the original interior-as-exterior?

Thanks a lot :) The curtains and books are from http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=430152&id=7838 by Shannon (I tore the books off a bookshelf) and the desk is Phaedrus' from http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7605.
Yes, the Estate has moved to a real exterior cell, off the Azura Coast (http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu289/Danae123123/MAP.jpg). The fps is actually better now and hopefully noone's already picked this spot.

Here are a few screens of the exterior:
