I hope it's not going to be dull, at least in terms of color choice. Too many games that seem to think "realism" means "drab colors" already, I don't want the Elder Scrolls to become like that too. Though I wouldn't mind more horror elements where appropriate, like in dungeons.
Developers who think that painting everything gray and brown is "realistic" need to get out more, or look out the window.
realism is never the goal of a tes game, it is fantasy, the most realistic tes game so far was OB and it was widely apreciated as generic. if you want realistic don't play fantasy rpg games. that being said, I don't think SK will be dull. they were talking about a variety of terrain types that had more than just snow.
I agree with it in theory but that can't be realisiticly true. You wouldn't expect a Grand Theft Auto game to aim for a T rating now.
That doesn't compare. the bgs devs are not specificly shooting for gore and advlt themes when they start planning to make these games, the devs of GTA are, thats what GTA is about: theft, murder, and blood money. TES is about fantasy and the lore of tamerial, sometimes it gets mature and bloody, but it is not because that was the goal set in their minds. neither are they attempting to water it down.
what todd said it think, was: we are just going to make the game and don't care what the rating will be. (paraphrasing, but he did make it clear that they were not diliberatly aiming for a mature title)
