Pegi 18 Rating

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 2:16 pm

I'm happy that Skyrim has taken the step to limit this game 18. It's a very mature game for mature people

Here is the rating:
PEGI 18
The advlt classification is applied when the level of violence reaches a stage where it becomes a depiction of gross violence and/or includes elements of specific types of violence. Gross violence is the most difficult to define since it can be very subjective in many cases, but in general terms it can be classed as the depictions of violence that would make the viewer feel a sense of revulsion.
Descriptors shown on the back of the packaging indicate the main reasons why a game has received a particular age rating. There are eight such descriptors: violence, bad language, fear, drugs, sixual, discrimination, gambling and online gameplay with other people.

I didn't even notice it had been confirmed  for me. It's not surprising though.

I enjoy mature games for mature gamers such as myself.

Alternatively:
Hopefully this means some darker questlines, Oblivion lacked the moral grey areas. Of course, it could be because they show a boob at some point, or would that be AO?

When i see a childrens game i see alot of bright colours and weird characters. I hope Skyrim would be dull and erry to play and actually scary/intense game.

I'm looking forward to the more mature rating.
However it won't be long before six is raised...
Or Boobies...

Or even the dreaded underwear topics, heads up people.

I hope the Mods won't be put through as much of these posts as NV... especially the underwear topics.

As many mistake maturity with graphic and frequent smut.

Lol I hope it's not because of a boob :P I reckon it will be scarier, as well as bloodier and generally darker.
Hopefully anyone under 18 with strict parents can convince them to lighten up on the rules - you've still got some months to go, so get wheedling!

Oblivion had lots of dark moments, the dark brotherhood was one of the best quest chains in the entire series, and had many layers of bad. Sure, it was not grey as in, the witcher, however in terms of darkness and themes within, it was surely quite strong. For me the 18 rating (MA15+ in australia) just means there will be a lot more stuff like the dark brotherhood in oblivion. Or... that's what I wish it meant. It's probably not themes that is the defining reason for the rating, unfortunately, but rather the onscreen voilence in the combat. Which means less to me than some dark sorded themes. I want skyrim to be darker, more violent - sure why not, but the themes and story being of a more sinister nature is soooo much more important.

Kids generally want the guts, once you get to 26, then it's the themes. Planescape torment would probably be a great example of mature but also intelligent themes. It just allows for a deeper creativity.

What I want betheda to do is explore that creativity, the universe is begging for it. Blood textures coming out, is only a bonus. If that.

The Elder Scrolls series doesn't seem to focus their maturity on the sixual side of things, it'll most likely be drug, fear and violence.

For example, skooma (drug), dark and tense fights (fear) and gore (violence).

Oh, Oblivion certainly had black, and white, but not much inbetween. Grey areas give so much more room for character development - it's very hard for a character to cross the moral event horizon in Oblivion because there's nothing between "Save the puppy" and "Murder the puppy in front of the orphanage you just burnt down".

Eh, I'm way younger then that, and I prefer themes. I don't really like guts, only in places where it made sense. Fallout 3 was defidently my limit on that, and that is why I didn't get the bloody mess Perk. Though I hope it is rated 18+ not because of nudity or extreme violence, but darker themes.

Im glad they already labeled it, now they can just make the game and not worry if it meets some kind of standard.

I consider myself very mature for my age anyway. :hubbahubba:
I've got my dad wrapped round my little finger too so there won't be much trouble getting my hands on this.

But in a way I'm sort of glad they stepped it up, I'm hoping for some intense non-stop gameplay when it comes out. :celebration:

I hope it's not all that 'dark and disturbing' personally. If they mimic the dark brotherhood scenes in Anvil lighthouse, and Applewatch type of stuff that they had in oblivion but with better graphics I'll probably get sick :/ Not that I don't appreciate the scary aspect, If i wanted disturbing gore I would buy a horror themed game.
I for one would prefer a tastful revival of Desele's House of Earthly Delights..

For me, it's ok.

I hope it's not going to be dull, at least in terms of color choice. Too many games that seem to think "realism" means "drab colors" already, I don't want the Elder Scrolls to become like that too. Though I wouldn't mind more horror elements where appropriate, like in dungeons.

Developers who think that painting everything gray and brown is "realistic" need to get out more, or look out the window.

But even Morrowind, which arguably had a fairly drab choice of colors, didn't have a boring world, and what I've seen of Skyrim so far has given me no reason to expect the world will feel dull, so I'm not worried about this.

Beyond that, I'm glad Bethesda isn't afraid to get a high rating with Skyrim, do whatever you think will make you're game the best game it can possibly be and late it be rated whatever is deemed fitting. Not all games need briasts and graphic dismemberment, but like all things creative, I think the games have the best potential when developers put focus on creating the game they want to make, rather than getting a specific rating.
