Pelagiad Expanded
~~~ A WORK IN PROGRESS ~~~
Some of you may remember this project, some of you may not. Some may consider this an appalling idea, while others may be drooling in anticipation for this mod. Needless to say, there is mixed response. Just like any mod. I won't deny it, but in the past few months this project has, quite literally, been dead. Abandoned, half-finished, and crying out for our attention, this mod was ignored. But looking over it, seeing what's been done - the blood, sweat and tears; the time, effort, and creativity put into this mod to make it the best it could be - I can't help but pull this phoenix out of the ashes. Now, comes the rebirth of this project. Now, comes Pelagiad Expanded! ...again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Description:

You all know Pelagiad, it's that little old peaceful Imperial town in Ascadian Isles, on the way to Balmora from Seyda Neen. You've all been there, seen what there is to see, done all that there is to do. Hell, you've had your fair share of escorting someone to there, always wondering "Why would they want to go to this place?" Well, now there is a reason. Now, there is Pelagiad Expanded.

Pelagiad Expanded (or PE for short), is like all other city expansions, in that it seeks to provide renewed interest in RPG's greatest downfall: small cities. Pelagiad Expanded addresses this issue, and gives Pelagiad a much needed makeover. We've transformed Pelagiad from a sleepy little country village to a big, bustling walled city filled with NPCs galore, detailed alleyways, secret nooks and crannies, and some very unique features! Exterior-wise, it comprises of four main districts: the North Quarter, the South Quarter, the Market, and the Fort - but who knows what lies beneath the surface?

The North Quarter, nicknamed the Rich District, is home to the rich folk, naturally. The wide, winding avenues are lined with beautiful estates, each with their own private gardens. A key feature to the Rich District is it's central park, which is a great place to take a stroll on a hot summer's day! Also, time permitting, take a visit to the Governor's Mansion - welcome during daylight hours! The Governor's Mansion has housed the Governors of Pelagiad for countless years, and it's interior design and architecture, coupled with its peculiar exterior shape, is definitely a sight to see! And why not stop by the Brewery, just up the road, for a swig of Pelagiad's finest? They give you free samples (1 per day) and want your feedback! The Rich District has much to offer for any traveler, it is the pearl of Pelagiad's pride!

The South Quarter, nicknamed Poor's Town, houses the less wealthy citizens of Pelagiad. In recent years, this Quarter has fallen into some disrepair, with crime running riot. The rat-infested back alleys not only house vermin of the furry kind, but amongst the thick muck also dwell the scum of the people. Any travellers should be wary if venturing down these overgrown, cluttered alleyways and are advised to stick to the main streets of Poor's Town. There are several taverns in Poor's Town in which you might wish to pay a visit to, in order to quench your thirst, but be warned! Not all taverns are welcoming! It is usually best to listen outside before entering; if you hear rowdy merry-making within, it should be quite safe - it is in the quiet ones that you should be cautious! It is also reminded that any persons witness to theft should report to the nearest guard, in order to try and get a hand on the crime rate in Poor's Town. And please, be careful around the South Gate as there is currently renovation under way, and things are liable to fall from scaffolding onto the unwary bystander.

The Market is the core of Pelagiad. Here the best of both the North and South Districts come to sell their wares. The main avenue is lined with stalls filled with the useful to the pretty to the downright bizarre, and they're all waiting to be bought. Beware of persistent salesmen though, they can get aggressive! There's so much about the Market that it is best to go in with an open mind, and a tightly closed purse, for you never know what you'll encounter! It runs 24/7, so any insomniacs out there will love the chance to do a bit of late-night shopping.

The Fort rests atop Pelagiad hill, looking out over the rest of the city. This modest Imperial Fort provides the guards that keep you safe in your beds at night, tackle your neighbourhood crime, and provide community support in so many other ways. It is the key part of Pelagiad, the governing body, and if it wasn't for the Fort, Pelagiad might not be Pelagiad! This untested fortification is where the Governor resides during the day, and most - if not all - city welfare is conducted through here at some stage, so the Fort not only provides a defensive structure but an economic one, as well. Visits are welcome, and travelers are encouraged to complete a Visitor's Interview.

  • Rich District
    • Exterior: 95%
    • Interior: 7%

  • Market District

  • Fort (Ext.) and Sewers (Int.)
    • Exterior: 90%

    • We are conceiving ideas at the moment. These will be developed as the world-building stage is being completed, and will be added to the mod upon completion of the world.

Exteriors are awaiting finishing touches. Interiors are now being worked on. As of yet, there is little progress to be reported on in that area due to the large number of interiors and the small number completed. The sewers have almost been completed in the layout, awaiting detailing before final revision. We will keep you updated with news of further development.

This looks great. I've always been a fan of Pelagiad.
Your narrow streets look perfect!

I hope it doesn't extend to far north, I'd hate if it conflicted with MW Public Library.

erm... is it really necessary to have three threads going for the same project? <_<

Once you get those old threads closed, you might want to add links to your OP that point back to them. :)

Heh, getting those old threads locked didn't cross my mind. Regaez and me felt it would be better if one of us had control over editing the OP though, which is why we made this new thread-one of the reasons.

Hey mods, can we get those 2 older threads locked please?

Looks good. I've always enjoyed Pelagiad

Will there be any quests? The main problem with Pelagiad has been the lack of things to do there.....

We are looking to incorporate quests in this mod as well as enlarging the city, for it's all well and good making an expanded city, but if there's nothing to do there then it gets boring rather quickly. But for now we are focussing primarily on building the interiors and then we will be adding quests at a later date.

I have found Syrcanus to be amazingly creative, so expect some cool and varied quests in this mod.

Thank you for the response, it all sounds great

There is of course LGNPC Pelagiad, which adds quests. I assume that your mod will be compatible?

Thanks everyone for the support. Just looking over this mod in the CS, I couldn't bear to see it go to nothing. Thus the resurrection.

I'll look into LGNPC, as at the moment I'm not sure what the mod incorporates in terms of quests etc., but if we can make it compatible then we will. We will also be looking into compatibility with several other Pelagiad mods mentioned in the past. So, rest assured, we are trying to make this fit in as best as possible.

Added some more screenshots to the OP, and slightly changed the progress status.

We are now 1 less interior closer to completion!

Thanks a lot for the offer. At the moment I think we're fine, but if we do happen to need anything in the future then I'll be sure to take you up on that! :D

I've finished the skeleton layout of one rather large house in section 1 of the poor district that we marked off, and gotten the skeleton layouts of 2 other houses-out of the 4 houses in section 1-first floor's also finished. Big houses are my bane...they make me want to design something unique, which takes me forever...and it's a temptation I apparently cannot resist very well. :whistle:

I hope to have the skeleton layouts of the 4 houses done by tomorrow, and then its clutter time.

Edit: Wait...I said tomorrow...its already tomorrow...oooookkkkk...I'm going to sleep now before my brain seriously fails me. :wacko:

Yes, I am still intending on finishing this off. I've recently just installed Windows 7 Professional with a clean install, so I don't have MW on my computer at the moment. Don't worry though, I backed up all 8GB of my MW folder first! I've also got my final exams coming up, so I'm a bit short for time with the increasing pressure for study... and me not doing as much as I should. Therefore, I'm a bit hesitant to reinstall MW before my exams, and add yet ANOTHER distraction to my study. This year it's important I get my priorities sorted.

Yesterbreeze is in the same boat, too, Chaka.

However, if anyone is interested in helping out with a few interiors here and there, then send me a PM for details. There's more than enough interiors to go around, and every little bit helps get this done that much faster!

Cheers,
Regaez

This mod looks really good. Probably will be quite a FPS killer, but I think I would get it anyway. I really like that town, and am always disappointed that it has so little to offer. It always feels so .. deserted, not protected from the outer world. But tis is superb. Will be waiting for other towns, as well.
