For the most part it had been a peaceful walk, Kai, at ease with himself and any responsibility he had was pushed to the back of his mind. It was getting darker, and the snow was coming down harder, a storm was brewing and the small flakes battered into the side of his covered face, twisting and turning with the flustering winds. Blood was in the air, he could smell it and wanted some for himself, he too could hear the sounds of battle and as he pressed on up the side of a large, snow covered hill he could see it. Suddenly a large bang shot from a mage, a giant wave of fire coming from in the centre of the battle, it took Kai by surprise, but it didn't put his mind from its target.
The great city walls overrun with chaos, blood and terror. He picked up a jog, it was hard, the soft snow resisting against his already tired legs, wanting to find out why they were fighting, but more just to join in. As he drew nearer he licked his cold lips in a sadistic manner, flicking the blade from his crimson gauntlet and picking up speed to enter the mayhem.
He spotted Xerca as he neared the battle, a well known captain at the stronghold but he was unaquainted with Kai. He appeared to be fighting off the seemed 'enemy' as well as some of the other 'comrades' of Xerca. As he got nearer he picked up his pace, soon flying through the snow at a remarkable speed, heading straight for a targeted oaf. A Nord stood a few last feet from Kai; axe perched on his shoulder with an elderly victim lying at his feet. He wore a thick fur hide, so he can't have been a soldier, he must have been a citizen.
Kai leapt, it seemed like a lifetime that he hung in the air, the wind blowing at him from the side and the grim look in the Nords eyes boring into him as the Nord stared at death itself, a ray of sunlight flashed through the clouds of thick snow, glinting for a second upon the shiny surface of the polished steel blade. As he brought the blade down into the thick skin of the Nords neck the sun ray too went deep beneath the clouds, bones and bristle snapped and creaked as Kai pushed harder on the steel wristblade, pushing ever deeper, before finally twisting it and finishing the Nord completely.
He dropped, falling with a thud into the soft snow, spraying the loose white substance up around his body, blood staining the pure surface with its dark and eerie colour. Kai turned, the battle still raged on around him, though many men lay on the ground. Blood now stained his fresh robes and caked his wristblade, he hastened to clear the blood from his hair, flicking the fringe back from his eyes and scanning the area.
