The burial of Luther Francis the Second wasn't a fancy one. The soldiers were tired from the fighting and quickly began to dig a hole large enough for him, to place Luther's body in it, he didn't know quite what to say when the body was lowered into it and the hole was covered. Instead he looked solemnly as the man was descended, as friends; they had often talked of death, he knew his father would rather have Luther in hammerfall, but the body would decay long before they got there.

He sighed, "Come, men, let's move out." He stated before he spotted an overturned cart. He walked towards it and climbed up the back before standing up, he could see the men spread out across the white landscape, "FAAALLL INNNN!" He cried.

It took a few moments for him to start seeing people move towards him, the legion soldiers' moral had somewhat been dampened by the burial it seemed.

Aerin watched the man get buried, and couldn't help but wonder about the rest of the people that were dead being left where they lay. It saddened her that so many lives were lost because of this, even though trying to subdue one of the crazed so they could find out what was really going on sounded like a better option.

They couldn't control themselves because of a spell.. and yet we are going to leave them like they are savages.. Aerin thought as she clenched a fist before the captain called for them to fall in, making her sigh at the 'men' bit. Just another of those things in the legion. Never enough women in the ranks for them to find a better word.

Looking towards the gate she heard a yell of a crazed man. It almost sounded like an animal, and made Aerin disappear suddenly because of the ability to become invisible because of the sign she was born under. Yet she was unable to control this ability as it happened instinctively when she got startled or scared. But she didn't realise that it happened, so she continued to walk over, the only thing visible was her footprints.

Alberon stared at the grave of the fallen captain, he wasn't greiving, he wasn't close enough for that. No, Alberon was thinking about the manner in which the Redguard had died.

He was beaten, then stabbed.
So, Nords could've done that.
The stab is far too thin, like a dagger, or an arrow....
The strangely clad Imperial maybe?
Well he doesn't seem to carry any weapons...
Neither do I but myself and Ilmiril are probably the most lethal people here.
Well that beacause these fools most likely can only tell one end of a blade from the other because they've had to be schooled in it their whole life.
Ha! That's true, they all have axes to grind though.
Yes.. especially Sulla and the scout, what's her name.....Falcon?
..Anyway the Imperial.
Right, so do I tell the Captain?
Can't hurt.

Alberon was distracted from his dedeuctive line of thought with cry of "FAAALLL INNNN!" At that Alberon jogged towards the Captain ready to warn him.

"Alright soldiers, listen up." He stated as they all began to fall in, his voice was loud and travelled over the men. "Frostmoth is obviously under attack and by the looks of things, the seige isn't going well, we've stopped them here and we can beat them in there." He added, "We'll be splitting into two units, there's aroudn 2 dozen of us so each unit will be strong enough to hold their own. What we'll do is simple:

We'll move around the city, clearing all those that get in our way and helping any citizen that we can, we'll continue round the wall of the city until we get to the dock where we'll regroup and head through the middle. Now for this to work, we're going to have to draw attention to ourselves so that they come to us. Each unit should have a horn which will be blown almost constantly to let the enemy know of our presence, their mindless animals so they'll charge and we can kill them swiftly. Remember lads, those citizens that we save, MUST be escorted to the docks so they can be taken safely to the mainland." He instructed. It was a simple plan; crude and somewhat risky but it could work and it was the best he could think up.

"We're all exhausted, so only take what you need. I'll give you 30 minutes to drop any gear you don't want and form into two groups. Fox-Lion here will take the second group, I'll command the first. So all of group 2 know who Fox-Lion is, Fox, come up here for me."

Sulla was filling his pockets with loot when he heard Xerca saying his name, well his nickname. He stood up and when he heard that he would be in command of the second group, his chest swelled up with pride and he completely forgot about looting. "It's about damn time." he thought as he walked up to and stood near his captain, "Maybe that promotion isn't as far off as I thought it was."

He turned to Xerca and gave a salute, "Sulla the Fox-Lion reporting for duty captain!" he said with a small smile on his face, "I just want to first say thank you for the position, and I wanted to know who exactly would be on my team?"

He wasn't too friendly with any of the people here, and he was too busy fighting to take not of their skills. He would have to just do the best with whomever he got. They were still alive after all, and that must count for something. He would also have to stop looting for the time being, as he didn't want to mess up this glorious chance of a promotion. If this went smoothly then he would be at least promoted, if not rewarded for his trouble. Either way he would be closer to gaining that fortune and living the easy life.

Guhh..... the Fox-lion?
What does Capt'n Xerca see in him anyway?
He can fight, well.
So, Fawkes could kill a man.
Pretty weak man though.
Not the point.
I am not taking orders from a man who has no respect for the dead.
He'll probably end up taking us off the mission if he sees a well-stocked house.

Alberon looked at 'The Fox-lion' with contempt.

'Captain, you want him to lead a squad? Sure he can fight, I'm not doubting that, but we've all seen how much he loots, and a leader needs to be more than a fighter.'

Xerca glared at the Breton, "And I guess you think you'd be a better choice, hmm? Fox-Lion has proved his loyalty and bravery, nothing else is needed, I'm the commanding officer and that means you lot do as I say." He added turning away from the Breton, "Now gear up and get ready to move out."

He looked at Fox-Lion, "This is your first assignment, so, it's ok to get nervous, just remember, look like you're not. You'll take those that came into our unit aswell as hawk and the altmer, I don't like the foul stench he seems to give out." He smirked and patted Fox on the back.

"My unit save Hawk and you, altmer will be joining Fox-Lion, group up around there." He called and pointed to a clear patch of bodies about 10 metres away from the main group. "Good luck Fox." He stated before jumping down from the cart, his legs jarred and he felt a sharp pain rise up his body but he tried hard not to wince and instead kept his jaw rigged. He made it look like a deliberate act and walk off towards another patch where he expected his men to follow him.

Aerin looked over to the captain and then to the imperial 'Fox-Lion' who would be leading her and the Breton along with others, and nodded, forgetting that she was still invisible. "Yessir." she said without complaint. Even though the thought that she herself would have been better for the job, She didn't let it show. After all being like Alberon wasn't going to give her the opportunity Fox was getting, despite the fact the man thieved from the dead.

After realising that she was still invisible, seeing that she could not see herself, she sighed, and tried to calm herself down. After some time, she appeared again, and looked around, slightly embarrassed. "So what do you want me to do?" She asked Fox-Lion.

I want you to get a move on!" Sulla exclaimed as he began moving forward, "I'll give you all the specifics when we take our position!" Sulla was still in a state of bliss about the captain's positive comments about him, and not even the fact that he had the altmer on his team brought him down. He was already formulating a plan in his head, a plan that would put the scout and mage to good use, but he wondered if they would perform as good as he hoped they would.

"They better be spectacular." he thought with a twinge of anticipation, "If they aren't, my promotion is a good as gone. All that work would be for nothing, and I would have to remain with these hoodlums for the rest of my days."

Blake hadn't been rummaging for very long, until he came across a dead civilian, with a bow grasped in his cold hand. The Argonian felt sick as he peeled the stiff fingers of the Bow, then held the bow in his hand.
It was a steel-long bow, he barely used any sort of bow besides the Standard Issue legionnaire bow. He pulled back the bow-string experimentally, and found it slightly easier to pull back. He was about to check another body when the Captain yelled ''Fall in!''

Dammit, well, this will have to do...

Blake stood up and made his way back to the rest of the Legionnaires, as Xerca began telling them a plan about splitting into two groups. One lead by him, and the other by the 'Fox-Lion'. Blake chuckled silently to himself at the imperial's nick name, Fox Lion? More like Corpse Fondler.... He came to attention as the Dunmer Captain began walking off, with the other Legionnaires following him like ducklings. Blake half-frowned as he forced himself yet again, to run.
He caught up with Xerca's group, but stayed a few feet behind the Captain himself. Blake hoped the Dunmer wouldn't mind his new bow.

I don't like this [censored] but.. orders are orders.. Aerin thought to herself, and then turned to him. "Sir Yessir, anything you want sir" she said saluting him mockingly, before falling into line. The only reason why I'm not in charge as they would merely think i was doing the captain 'favours' the scout thought bitterly as she followed the man in charge to where they ordered to go.

((I'm sick as hell so.... yeah))

Alberon grinned as the looked back and saw the scout Hawk, that's her name insultingly salute Sulla.

If only I was in that squad.
If I was in that squad Sulla would be insane inside an hour.
Ye...

Alberon's thought process was cut off by Black-Eye bumping into him

Hmm, new bow.
..Wait we can pick up new weapons?
I'm not sure remember what Groz said?
..Yeah but that's because his captain was a violent Orc-hater.
Mmmm, I should keep on the look out for a staff.
If only I hadn't lost my damn spear.

Remembering that he had also healed the Argonian, Alberon jogged forwards to ask if the healing was sufficient.

Blake treaded through the snow silently. Every now and then, he would look up at the captain. Why do I feel so nervous? If he asks, just say you lost your bow...its that simple...
But in inside, Blake knew it wouldn't be that simple. He shivered slightly, and continued on.

He kept his eye on the captain, but was interrupted by a question behind him. Blake turned and saw Alberon, the mage that gave him the Healing Potion. The question asked was if the healing was sufficient enough.
Blake hesitated for a moment as the Mage jogged up to him. ''Yeah, I still feel kinda...sore though, but I'd guess that's from all the running and fighting we've been doing'' He gave a weak smile as he walked. ''Thanks for the potion though'' He said, then looked back at the Captain, then tightened his hand on the bow.

Xerca looked around him and nodded as he noticed the units were splitting off into two. He was worried that Fox-Lion might prove him wrong, and people would undermine Xerca's leadership. What with so much chaos going around, it seemed most people had forgotten the order of the imperium.

After he swapped his current sword for another legionnares due to his being slightly damaged, he looked up at the men in his unit. "Alright ladies, we've got a job to do." He stated calmly before looking at Fox, "Fox! Let's get moving!" He added before he started to move towards the City, the large force of soldiers moved with him.

Kai, upon hearing the commotion of the men approaching from behind, ducked slyly into a nearby alleyway. He wasn't sure whether it was the same group that had remained outside the city gates earlier or maybe a new bunch or cursed maniacs, even if it was the group he had met outside, he didn't know really that they wouldn't hurt him. He flicked his wrist in a swift motion and the bolt action blade shot from the gauntlet glistening in the reflection of light of the white snow, the dried blood peeling away from some areas of the steel blade.

The body of the man lye in the snow, the red liquid had consumed the snow around every inch of the man's broken face; Kai smirked as he reflected on his last kill, and waited for the group to approach.

"You heard the man!" Sulla exclaimed as excitement filled him, "Time to show your courage and save some citizens!"

The Fox-Lion ran into the city, his men following him. Their mission was to save as many people as they could, but he knew that they needed to know what was up ahead if there were enemies about. "Hawk, altmer!" he yelled as he slowed down, "Scout up ahead and see if there are any hostiles! Do not engage unless it's absolutely needed! If you see any citizens then tell them where to go, see any enemies and run back to inform me!"

Sulla enjoyed giving orders, but he wondered if they would follow them. Of course they had to, but there were times when authority could not stop rebellious behavior. The female was obviously dissappointed, probabely since she was not given command, so she might be a problem. The altmer seemed useful enough, but his attitude wasn't Sulla's favorite aspect. His promotion would be gine if they didn't follow orders, so he would have to do whatever it took to change their minds if they didn't obey him.

Aerin didn't respond to the order, but moved ahead anyways after glimpsing crimson clothing disappearing around a corner. She didn't know what it was, but remembered the Imperial from earlier, wondering if this man truly was an ally or an enemy.

unsheathing her shortsword, the scout moved ahead, not caring if the other man was following or not. Reaching the corner, she stopped, and gazed around it before moving in, "Show yourself if you arent one of those 'things'" She challenged as she walked slowly.

Xerca smirked behind his helmet when he saw Sulla run towards the city, "He's eager lads, but let's make sure we get the most kills!" He added as he too began to quicken his pace, they were still about 250 odd metres away from Hawk, but he could tell something wasn't quite right. He tightened the grip on his sword and prepared to face an unknown opponent.

Kai blended in well with the shadows as he watched the silhouette against the pure white background wander into the alley. It was a thin alley with all but the entrance shrouded in darkness; the wooden walls of the houses on each side of the alley provided no comfort or warmth for Kai as he stayed crouched upon the soft snow-covered floor. A mere fraction of light glinted onto his wristblade, he was sure the figure had seen it, but waited, waited for them to make the first move.

As Aerin scanned the area, she caught a glimpse of something shining, and this caused her to grip the handle of her short-sword tighter. From what she had seen, whoever this was, it wasn't one of the crazies, but that thought didn't put her at ease. Because it wasn't a mindless creature, that made whoever it was that continued to keep hidden much, much more dangerous.

Slowly the Imperial walked down the alleyway, she couldn't help but wonder why she was lead down here in the first place. Was it a trap? From what she had seen so far, the scout was damn sure of this. I just have to be on my toes on this one. I won't let whoever this is get the better of me The Imperial thought to herself as she continued down slowly.

"Show yourself if you aren't a threat to the Legion, and especially not one of those creatures that are running around here." She called out again, hoping again that whoever it was wasn't about to attack her. "if you think that i am a threat, then you are mistaken. i wouldn't be saying anything if i was.." Aerin continued, then raised her short-sword then dropped it.

As she did this she hoped silently that whoever it was, wasn't a threat, otherwise she was already in hot water.

The sound of sliding metal echoed around the small alleyway in which the two warriors collided, the wristblade flying fast back into the gauntlet from which it had come.

Kai had watched as the silhouette had dropped her steel blade to the soft snowy earth. "I am no threat unless you are, as I do not fight on unfair terms." He grinned as he stood up, the light revealing the woman that he had met outside the gate earlier. He scooped down and lifted her sword from the cold ground. "I believe that we have met before?" he asked as he passed her the handle of her own blade.

Kai considered which method he would enjoy more, killing with the group, or simply trying to kill the group. He decided after a mere seconds thought to join them, and grinned widely at the soldier.

Name: Sryner Varius
Species: Imperial
Gender: Male
Age: 34

Physical Description: Average height among his race, built tough. As most legion soldiers, he prides himself on physical strength and fitness. His face is usually clean and charming, but it has been long since he was able to keep himself looking neat. He wears fine long brown hair to his shoulders, slicking the wavy locks back. His facial hair makes a thin beard but a groomed goatee.

Height: 6'1"
Skin Tone: Once tanned, lost it after so many years in the cold.
Hair Colour: Dark brown
Eye Colour: Dark brown
Physique: Athletic

Skills and Equipment: Deadly with a blade and a shield, as well as words. He is a great negotiator. He wears standard legion armor of Morrowind. A black cuirass with an orange and blue horse riding toward the center with a chainmail skirt falling from the waist, and royal, shining steel armor coating the rest of his body. He weilds a steel longsword, and always is sure he has a sidearm of a shortsword just in case.

Proficiencies: Giving and following orders, fighting (no matter the odds), speechcraft.
Deficiencies: Leaving those he trusts and loves behind on the battlefield (hand in hand with following orders) and listening to things he doesn't want to hear.
Weapon(s): Steel Longsword and steel shortsword
Armor: Weathered imperial legion armor, Morrowind standard issue.
Mental Description: A loyal and strong soldier, a model legionnaire. He speaks with charisma and an aura that seemingly demands others to listen to him. He commands his unit with a fierce bravery, but also can synch himself with his commanders with great success. He follows orders to the exact word, often times arriving in his position at the perfect time to take victory in his own hands. His main fault is that he finds it hard to follow orders he doesn't approve of.

Short Bio: Varius was born and raised on the Cyrodiil/Morrowind border into a military family. He spent his early years following his father, an imperial officer, as his post moved around to varius forts. When he was of age to enter the service to the Empire, he was posted in Vvardenfell to help expand the Empire's influence. Most of his first few years consisted of patrolling and taking care of petty offenses, until he uncovered a small truth about the local crime syndicate, the Commona Tong. They were running the drugs through underground sources, into Sryner's own post. One of his best friends, the first legionnaire he met the day he enlisted, died from overuse.

Because of this, he led an undercover investigation, and within two years he was able to arrest three of the kingpin's best men, and he and his personal guard killed a few Commona Tong agents that didn't take jail time all that well. Getting the three men to talk, they learned the source was the Dren Plantation. Now under complete watch, they scouted the port bringing in large sources of skooma and moon sugar twice a week, and stormed the plantation to arrest Orvas Dren.

But unfortunately, Varius' move was too sudden. The evidence he gathered was raw, and Orvas Dren, being the Duke's brother, was near untouchable. Orvas Dren got off the hook, and Sryner Varius was shipped off Vvardenfell two hours later to spare his life. Dren's finest men were now looking for them. He was sent to the one place nobody would want to go, Solthseim.

There, he experienced much more then he thought he would. The first year he was there, there was a raid of werewolves where the captain of the fort was taken, and he was one of the officers who took partial watch over the fort. It was said that a nearby tribe knew answers to the werewolve attack, and so Sryner Varius accompanied a local hero, the Nerevarine, to that tribe. As the Nerevarine continued to build his reputation, befeating the Daedric Prince Hircine, Sryner Varius continued to build his own reputation by becoming the guard captain of the Raven Rock ebony mine.

Many years later, the Oblivion Crisis occured, and portals opened everywhere. One location was near Raven Rock. Sryner led his finest men into Oblivion after learning how to close the gates, and they heroicly retrieved the sigil stone to save the mine. Varius, though not being dealt the best cards in his life, had made quite a name for himself. That was foolish, as the last thing you wanted with the Commona Tong looking for you was a reputation. Shortly after closing the gate, agents of the Cammona Tong located him out on patrol, killed his men and nearly killed him as well. Dren wanted him alive, so they sliced him up and tortured him until he passed out, and took him off. He would have died was it not for one of the local tribes killing the agents while hunting, and taking Sryner in to recover his health.

((For now, I'll be in the village until I can come up with a good way to merge into the group. Quick question, where are you guys? I've skimmed the last few posts, it seems like some kind of city?))

OOC: They're just outside of Fort Frostmoth and it's newly built city.

Glad to be here, my CS is on the first page so I'ma start posting now.

IC: The cold wind of the sea swept over the deck of an old wooden ship, Derlin was still annoyed at the nature of this assignment, even though he was part Nord the cold didn't appeal to him, especially since he grew up in the Alik'r desert of Hammerfell. Though, unlike most orders, he couldn't disobey this on. At that thought he laughed out loud; he certainly hoped his new commanding officer, a Dunmer named Xerca he was told, had the patience of a saint.

He looked around the ship, there were a dozen or so legion soldiers as well as a couple of Skyrim's Nordic soldiers who were essentially in the same position as himself, acting as a liaison of their homeland's military. Derlin walked up to one of them and patted him on the shoulder "it's a shame really" he stated.

The Nord looked up, replying somewhat angrily "what's that?" More trying to tell off Derlin than validate his query.

"That I can't work on my tan without incurring the wrath of frost bite" he said with a sly grin crossing his lips. The Nord grumbled, ignoring him, and walked away, "no sense of humor, these Nords sure can be bores when their body isn't laced with mead."

Just as they neared the dock of Frostmoth the sound of battle echoed out over the water, the horizon where the fort was glowed with the orange hue of flames, although no solid forms could be made out as of yet. Derlin walked leisurely to the bow of the ship, drawing his falchion and letting the tip fall slowly to the ground. He stared at the horizon as shapeless masses became solid forms, The closer they got the more bodies became apparent, several individuals were fighting from what he could see.

As they came to a stop Derlin launched off the bow, using the stopping momentum of the boat to launch him forward. He landed in a summersault and came to his feet quickly, bringing his blade up and running toward the nearest combatants he could see. This isn't right he thought to himself as he saw a young woman with a crazed look in her eyes and a strange arch in her back beating an elderly man to within an inch of his life. Derlin flipped his blade so the dull edge faced forward and charged at the woman, he slammed the blunted side into her chest, spun around and put a firm back-kick into her face, knocking the woman unconscious.

"What exactly is happening here" he asked the severely wounded man as he poured a small portion of his healing potion through his wrinkled lips.

"The people... everyone... went crazy... something driving... driving them mad" the man said between gasping breaths, "thank... you for... for... the help."

Derlin smiled "it was my pleasure." He waved over one of the legion soldiers who came with him on the boat "get this man some medical help!" The soldier, an Imperial came running over "apparently the entire city has lost it's minds, be sure to let everyone know not to kill anyone. And tie this woman up, she seems to be a danger to everyone." With that he stood up and walked off, hoping to find some more survivors, maybe this 'Xerca' is still alive, he certainly hoped he was.

Derlin walked through the streets, noting the bodies which were strewn everywhere. He turned a corner and was faced by a group of legionnaires, much to his surprise. "I hope one of you is Captain Xerca, because otherwise I'm in trouble."

The group of legionnares Derlin found, wasn't the group of legoinnares he was looking for, and he had nearly met a swift end by an arrow of a very jumpy archer. One of the legionnares shook his head, "Xerca hasn't been seen since he left the city, I heard rumours that he might've come back from the north entrance, but good look getting through there without dying, we've managed to take some of the city, but not up north; that's where the housing was, and well, you can imagine how many people there were living here." The small Breton told the rather large nord. "We're on our way there now, come, maybe we can find our captain together and get this mess sorted out." He suggested and looked over his men.

"We're leaderless, but i'm acting in command." He added proudly and placed out his hand, "The name's Marcus."

Xerca's unit had now caught up with Hawk, the sound of heavy boots hit loudly against the cobbled road. "Hawk! Get back with your unit." Ordered Xerca after he saw the strange man, he'd seen a glimpse of this stranger, but nothing more. "You, civilian, we're heading to the docks, you'd do well to accompany me. There's no hope staying here." He added before turning around, "Alright Fox, good luck! And see you at the docks!" He gripped the horn he had taken from a legionnare and blew hard on it, the horn blasted out a dull but loud noise which would hopefully attract the crazed monsters, aswell as friendly units.

He looked to Fox, if the man did the same, the city would be saved, but otherwise, they'd have alot more work on their hands.

ooc:

The Main Group is currently just entering the city walls from the far northern entrance, Fox's group is taking the Eastern Direction and heading South, and Xerca's group is heading in a Western Direction and heading South. Going around the main city in an almost, "Pincer" tactic. :) Anymore details, let me know.
