"People of New Vegas"

Post » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:41 am

Eh  thats their perogative. I've played Fallout 2, I've seen their sinister choices, but I feel they are the greater good. I MIGHT side with them, but until furthernotice, I'm a Mr.House fan boy, so I may stick to New Vegas xD

Yeah, it kinda was. I dunno. I play my main character with the no one rules me attitude. I do what I want, and I'll get revenge and side with whoever to do so. I want to pit them all against each other if possible.

Haha. Brain seizure. That one is creative.

One of my later characters is gonna full on help NCR, and then, at a weird moment, just go crazy and destroy the whole place. Just for comedics.

I was doing a sound job in the park here one hot hot day, and a guy walked past us saying it was "hot enough to get brain stroke!".
The guy I was working with burst [laughing] once the man had rounded the corner.
(so did I )

If the choices are supposed to be morally gray, I assume that with or against House play out like this:

With House:
"New Vegas" is safe and becomes stronger than ever with more electricity pumping and water flowing to let the gambling games continue. In an effort to expand his empire, Mr. House releases his Securitron army into the nearby slums just outside of New Vegas, eliminating all the gang members and leaders and colonizing the ruins for himself. New Vegas continues to grow in power...And in wealth.

Against House:
With the electricity and water freely distributed amongst all of the wasteland, New Vegas can no longer survive. The slot machines die down into mere dusty antiques, and the fountains stop splurting water. While everyone is given this newfound power, no one knows how to use it.

And what I mean by these is to dispute the House is against the people of New Vegas idea. I think House is FOR the people of New Vegas, but ONLY New Vegas, not anyone beyond it's walls. The "People of the wasteland" option is what would be "against House".

Sounds about right...
But I'm hoping for an original Junktown style ending myself.
(One can always hope)

The "good" ending (Killian takes control and Junktown becomes safe), or the Gizmo ending? ;)

No, there's four. There's with Mr. House and against Mr. House. I stated earlier what I personally thought this boiled down too.

The last two factions would be the people of New Vegas [with House] and the people of the wasteland [against House]. Basically the people of New Vegas is the city of New Vegas itself and everyone inside, while the people of the wasteland is everyone in the Mojave wasteland (New Vegas included).

The unreleased ending... Where Killian is sided with and Junktown stagnates, becoming almost a totalitarian military state; Or where Gizmo is sided with and the town becomes a crime ridden casino town, but everyone thrives. This was the intention, as I understand it, but they were asked (forced?) to change it.

I recall asking http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/25443-emilpags/ that if ever they got Ron Perlman back in the studio, would they slip in the last lines from Fallout 1's original Junktown ending as a "goodie" on the PC DVD.
(Something a modder could repair the old ending with and actually have the sound files that describe it)

I personally am gonna side with Caesar's Legion. For one thing, I always favored small guns to energy weapons, and I believe that I could get a good shotgun out of the allegiance. Also, I feel that they will actually share the water and power (NCR hoards it), except for enemy factions. Which will mean that they will help the wasteland for the greater good.

That's sad. So there's only 2 factions and one demi-faction you can join?

Well it hasen't been said who is with or againts house. There could be more to it than we are being lead to beleve. My wish is that the citzens of vegas are rising against Mr. House, and House is hiring people to keep control of his city.

I don't want "The People of New Vegas" to be a faction. There will be the Kings right? they are within the City of Vegas. So what, they will be a faction within a faction? I can't see alot of Gangs and Casinos all working together like some big neighbourhood watch ot block association. I want New Vegas to be alot like New Reno and Redding mixed in one. For every casino and gang to be out for their own goals and have their own loyalties to other factions. Only difference between New Vegas and New Reno. Mr.House is the Kingpin the head boss of them all. Everyone else in Vegas are just paying tribute to Him, if they get the chance to take him out they would.

People of New Vegas isn't really a faction like the NCR or Caesar's Legion are. They're more like the Independent path. It's all just really weird since factions aren't really clear cut good or bad anymore.

Wait, wait! So let me get this straight there are 4 Factions in FNV: NCR, CL, Mr. House and Vs. Mr.House. Unbelievable! (sarcasm)

So if these are the 4 confirmed and no more, why carry on about "The People of New Vegas" being a faction...

Because it's unclear what Mr. House's "faction" is going to be. I personally think he wants to benefit his industry but not the wasteland, and against him is to essentially bring down New Vegas by giving everyone in the wasteland power, but I can't confirm this, only speculate.

That's the only real reason to continue on about the whole "people of New Vegas" thing, as we're unsure what it clearly means by "New Vegas" (the city, or the entire wasteland).

I thought it was clear. "New Vegas" same as "New Reno" title wise. Would not make sense for the entire wasteland to be called "New Vegas Wasteland."

Like I said in another post I am hoping Mr.House won, bought and muscled his way into running Vegas. Every other gang, faction, bar and casino (in the City) are under his thumb. Some may like it, other might not. For everyone to be happy about Mr.House or to be unhappy would just be stupid. I would like everyone to have their own goals and loyalty to different peoples and groups.

I meant in general for most people. Since the game is called "New Vegas" most people may just assume that "People of New Vegas" must mean "people of the wasteland".

I made a post earlier that I too think that with Mr. House is the People of New Vegas, but only the city itself, while against him is the People of the Wasteland.

I see how it could confuse some people. Fallout 3 was just the "DC wasteland". The Devs of New Vegas are always saying "Mojave Wasteland." I am going with that and I hope alot of other people do. Since New Vegas is to be alot less black and white the people should not be all united as one.

I do as well. If Mr. House is not a money grubbing son of a gun who could care less for human life than for the cash in his pockets, I will be pissed.
