Do people really want turn based brought back?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:44 am

1. But thats only gonna satisfy a hand full of people so the person making the game like that would loose OUT BIGTIME. 2. Not to mention this isnt the 90's anymore we have alot more technological advancements.

1. Actually, we have no idea whether it'd be successful or not it could be a big success or a cult-classic that the mainstream couldn't accept.

2. I think that with these technological advancements the TB combat could really be spiced up.

Ah yes indeed.
Aiming and shooting in Fallout3 does have that waiving effect and inaccuracy with low skill levels, at near 100 in such as Small Guns and 100% repaired, accuracy seems true enough.

agreed, they do already implement the system to an extent, but i think it really takes it to the next level if the game starts to help you more and more with increased skill levels (beyond 50)... it increases the disparity between high and low skill levels, and should, IMO, take care of (to an extent) the issue that the dino's are addressing. as well as making the game just that little bit more fluid and dynamic once you reach a high skill level with any weapon.

You can't spice up turn-base to the equivalent of real-time, where characters move with complete freedom, at will, or at the same time, it is TURN based.

Dragon Age came out in 2009. Was successful as hell.

Play a Bioware game (other than ME) and you'll see how it's done. That's right, it's already been done.

Try a game called Real Life. Seems to fit your description.

Please, look at this and tell me with a straight face that these animations are not as good as FO3

I found Fallout 3 to be totally unrealistic. With 100 Guns, my sniper rifle was still wavering. FNV was a step in the right direction. In FO1 and 2, the world felt totally 100% real, like I was in it. Your opinions are not the Bible.

Meaning: Playing as yourself.

Meaning playing with the more true-to-life realism that real-time RPG allows.

That turn-base RPG does not allow and has trashed.

No I'm not roleplaying the character because the character would fail to make the shot. The player is making the shot. That is not a matter of opinion.

This is priceless. TB combat interferes with "realistic roleplay" but the fact that every character (even the ones with 1 perception) is half-blood hound who can smell enemies 20 feet out and convert their exact direction to a red blip on a handily provided compass doesn't. Sitruc I am awed.

You are role-playing the character, you are role-playing the shot.

Police Helicopters scan at night for a fleeing criminal who shows up as a white dot (sorry it's not red, but it could be configured so).

Now stop wasting everybodies time Okie.

Do the policemen use their own perception, or do they maybe use some kind of a, I dunno, machine? To scan for criminals? In that case, the machine's got the good perception, if not and the policemen use their own eyes, then I bet they are on that mission because they've got good perception.

Show me turn-base play EQUAL to the real-time role-play of Fallout3.

You can't.

And if you can, then it is real-time.

And so we already have it in Fallout3

So why ask for turn-base play.

Stop taking the piss.

We keep throwing examples left and right and all you say is a plain "no" without explanation.

:Sigh: I give up this is pointless. It's like talking to a waterwheel.

I am role-playing the shot? Even you must grasp how ridiculous that sounds let alone the concept you're trying to argue for. Am I role-playing Gordon Freeman in Half-Life?

Police helicopters? Really? That's what you're going with? I must have missed the fact where my character is a flying vehicle with night-vision equipment. You don't seem very interested in "realistic roleplay" after all.
