Perfect Location

Mississippi River!

This is the perfect location for five reasons
1. Untouched by previous FO games. You can still have BoS and Enclave, but no NCR or Followers or whatever, but you can have new and interesting factions. This means we can avoid the semi-domesticated feeling that the NCR gives.
2. Easily expandable (great lakes (canol), gulf region, ohio river, etc) The missouri river actually takes you all the way to Montana. The arkansas river begins in Colorado. This starting location allows you to explore really all the US east of the Rockies.
3. Plausible fast travel. If the game was based in Seattle and I wanted to go to Colorado (expansion maybe) then its just like...did I take a Vertibird?...did the 4000 other players who did the same thing also take a Vertibird? With the Miss you just took a steam boat, a raft, a sail boat, a slave or brahmin powered boat, or an Enclave Destroyer ;).
4. Varied terrains. You can have expansive forests, subtropical swamps, deserts (new since the war), snow, If you go over to Colorado and Montana you can even have mountains.
5. You have four major cities; Minneapolis, Memphis, St. Louis, and New Orleans. This gives you a lot of variety of places to explore. On the sad side no easy puns like The Pitt

Well what do you think? All I want for Christmas is APA and a gauss rifle.

pretty good idea, although personally i prefer to keep it near the west coast like FO1+2, or a Utah, Colorado, and the surrounding areas like in Van Buren. Just my personal preference, though.

Northern border of United states as to keep Canada as possible DLC because they have advanced technology up there, like the android company from FO 3.

Hows about New York? i know it's dangerously close to Washington but it'd be cool to see some re-conditioned yellow taxis haha
not to mention it could strech up towards Canada for some cool snow areas and down towards Boston for a Fenwick park stadium area.

then for expansions (i'm kinda bias here being Australian) but what about Australia? make it a "brave new front" that the enclave and brotherhood are rushing to inhabit then we could get some awesome mutant koalas and drop bears
or Europe, same deal basically un-inhabited but the powers that be are rushing to take what they can or maybe forge alliances with the remnants of Germany or Russia! light a fire for a man and he'll be warm for a night
light a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life

It can be wherever they want :P Just as long as there are some resemblance to the old games (like including BoS or some other small town from the other games, just so you feel a bit like home).

But your idea did sound really cool, can't wait for them to give off the location of the game ^^. Image

well there is still lots of locations to be done why not use the Central and eastern Coasts of the US since all the fallouts are based in the west Coast area's.

I assumed that it was MIT, not Canada, that the android was from, but I could be wrong. Future BoS member if the game allows it!

The enclave is trying to move us out of california!! DIE!!!!

That would be pretty cool setting, but the rivers would have radiation sadly. Image

Massachusetts is where it supposedly originated, but it is believed that a division called the Institute moved into Canada for the android slaving business. The businessman in FO 3 described it as being "Up north where the bombs didn't fall" (Canada). However I could be wrong too. Well I guess we're just a couple of problem solvers

I'd like to see:

- big cities locations like "I am legend" or "Hellgate: London", "CoD 4: MW, Prypet". Blocks of flats with no windows, apartments, ruined streets with some plants fighting the urban environment, hospitals, schools, government buildings, army bases.

- Countryside landscapes - farms, orchards, meadows, ruined combine harvesters, lakes, mountains, rivers, forests.

Regarding "where the bombs didn't fall". Even assuming that nuclear arms races never took a downward turn after it diverged from reality, the whole of the United States wouldn't have been within the blast radii of falling bombs, that's just way too much area. It's all been covered by the radiation "cloud", like Europe after Chernobyl except a couple thousand times worse. Presume that was enough warheads that anything of value that the Soviets or Chinese knew about was targeted, and there's still plenty of room for low-key facilities to survive as well as the hardened facilities like the Vaults and Raven Rock. Why do games studios have to fight and die? War, war never changes : (
