I play on survival and only takes me 1 to 3 shots to kill almost any enemy. Not sure what he's talking about with bullet sponges. Might be my build but I have no problem taking people down quick on the highest difficulty.

Ugh, that reasoning is painful to read. So let me get this straight, fans of the original Fallout games are not real fans or are unimportant when designing a (supposed) sequel to those originals? And you should check your facts on why exactly Interplay went bust.
I wouldn't like to turn this into another "us vs. them", but I guess it's a bit too late. Few years too late?
I do understand why, let's say, hardcoe fans of The Elder Scrolls: Fallout resent uh... let's call them conservatives. TES is a great formula that a huge number of people (including myself) enjoy. So when BGS made Foblivion, TES fans rejoiced as they had new world to explore. Naturally, they'd hate to see it gone. Now what does this remind me of, hmm. Something that may have already happened the the series.
Probably because the game is actually ridiculously more complex?
but the levelling system and skills meant you were forced to specialise, and to work towards a particular character build - that's one of the points of an rpg - you build up your strength and ability and specialise further as you go along. Fallout 4 is just like a regular fps - you can use any gun successfully from the beginning - why even bother specialising with the perks now, when everything I use destroys enemies off the bat?
How is putting more advanced crafting in a substitute for the item degredation we used to have - a gameplay element that forced on the spot, tough decision making?
Firstly i thought the point of a RPG was not to force anything on anyone or force them to specialise in one particular skill. You still do have to do that building up in Fallout 4 if i want to be great at lock picking i have to build the base special to the point i can apply that perk all the time being sure not neglect the other elements that i would like to have in my player - choices like do i use this level to increase the special for that perk i want for my lock picking build or do i invest in the armorer perk coz i am getting my [censored] handed to me, but then i cant be the lock picker master i want to be but at least ill be able to survive to level up again and further develop my chosen perks/skills.
Sure you can use any gun from the start but without the right mods you might as well have a stick and to have the right mods you need the right perks and again these give you decisions to make as to when you level what item and what you need (do i get the lock picking so i can open that master door or do i increase damage in my weapons to make it easier to get to said door). For example my character can pick up and use any automatic weapon but with no perks on automatic weapons in this play through i'm now level 23 and my auto weapons can do between 10 - 20 damage which is like hitting some enemies with a stick. My single fire weapons on the other hand have had the perks applied and can take on the biggest baddies and give me a fighting chance of a win. Also if your destroying all enemies of the bat you should prob op for an increase in the difficulty level as i would consider myself quite proficient at this type of game and im playing on very hard and getting owened by certain enemies.
Some comments people make lead me to believe that didnt get past character level five before saying nope this is crap and moving on and thats no way to judge anygame let alone a gamesas game!!
PS - forgot to add that weapons breaking didnt force any on the spot hard choices as all you do is pick up the weapons from the dead bodies of the guys you are wasting and combine....job done or failing that carry a spare for the gun you use most and combine when needed and repair all secondary guns when back to base or in the clear.
