Perfect review for FO4 its developers should see

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:16 am

In my humble opinion of course. And hold your horses, it is a positive review overall.

It also points out the ways the game has changed compared to every previous fallout game.

Uh-oh, he said "dumbed down". Duck and cover, an incoming [censored]storm! :bolt:

Though i would agree, quite accurate.

The only thing that is dumbed down is the expression dumbed down. The review was fair, but harsh. I don't agree, but to each their own.

Good review. Hard to fault anything he said, really.

Right, right. The game wasn't dumbed down, it was 'streamlined'. Is that better now?

I'm confused how a game with massive amounts of resource management and a Sims-esque component involving crop planting and diplomacy is dumbed down.

Don't worry about it, its right up there with 'skyrim with guns' for the usual nonsense whenever Bethesda change anything in their next game.....personally I've no real interest in a review of the game since I'm already playing and enjoying the game, really the opinon of a random guy on youtube is I doubt high on the developers list of things to do today.

There is irony. Although the reviewer cannot fathom how his character will deliver his line, he calls the dialog dumbed-down.

If you enjoy listening to an incompetent, amateur hack play at being an intelligent, informed game critic, then you may appreciate this so-called perfect review. If not, then don't waste your time.

Its cheaper to make a streamlined game rather than hone game mechanics which is good for the companies stock price short term. Long term valuation means not many people will buy more games since people will just buy COD or other games instead of Fallout. They may also lose key investors who bankrolled their gaming ventures which means more of the same to come with a vengeance, haha

Well atleast its accurate. And not everyone of us is against some strealined elements to put more focus on actually playing the game instead of struggling with other broken mechanics that are supposed to be "Old-school" and for "hardcoe" gamers. Just saying.

There are a host of reviews around a 9/10 average.

OP picks one that suits their view and calls it perfect.

Congrats OP, though I struggle to see how this is a discussion.

I think that is why OP chose it since there are a million reviews. Maybe it voices what the OP thinks?

I was with him on the review until he used the term "dumbed down". At that point he lost all credibility (in fact I stopped watching at that moment). Find a different way to express your dissatisfaction with changes made which you disagree with. Make no mistake, I'm not exactly a fan of the dialogue wheel, with it's limited options, but to call it dumbed down, doesn't make the person that says it look any better than the system they are criticizing.

as to the "dumbed down" aspect...some people are thumbs and some are greys

thumbs like dumbed down

greys like to use the grey matter

so when one is pandered to while the other is not, arguements will ensue

me,i am a grey,i like to use my brain more than my thumbs ;)

The only thing in this game that feels like a significant step-back for me is dialogue. I loved having your skills open up dialogue options. It was one of those things in an RPG that made sense and added a layer of depth. Sometimes complexity is there only for complexities sake, but the old dialogue system wasn't like that.

In other ways, the game is way more advanced. Settlement building and crafting are huge additions.

Overall, I don't think this was such a monumental shift. TES had huge shifts from Daggerfall to Morrowind and from Morrowind to Oblivion. Many of us who loved Morrowind had a tough pill to swallow with vanilla Oblivion. I don't think FO3/NV to FO4 is anything like that.

"the ghouls in this game look worse than in Fallout 3"

What? How? I understand some of his criticisms about character models, but to me the ghouls are a huge step up from how they looked before.

You must be a big fan of university "safe zones" if merely the way someone words something causes you such discomfort that you stop listening to them.

"spoiler free" ..reveals the nature of Virgil a little more than a minute into the vid. MEH!

While you might not consider this a spoiler or just missed it, this spoiled it a bit for me since this is the quest i'm on right now. I was expecting generic gameplay from the very start or something.

Could you change it to minor spoilers or spoilers for sticklers or something?

Same difference, really. Either way, all credibility is lost when someone tries using that poor argument to express dissatisfaction with something like video games..

Maybe you'd like to watch some respected reviewers instead of "picking ones that suits your view" then? (See what I did there? Oh well, I tried)

It's funny to see how the community here gets triggered by an expression that just describes what's actually happening and calls it a "poor argument" or whatever.
