Performance issue

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 9:27 pm

Hi,

I don't have the latest hardware, soon I will upgrade, I know I need it. I have a Geforce 8800 GTX and Intel Q6600 Cure 2 Quad, on which Crysis 2 should work fine. It does work fine for a couple of minutes on 35-40 fps, but then it goes to 16/17 fps for a couple a minutes, then back to 35-40 fps, back to 16/17 fps for a couple a minutes, and so on and on and on.

I have the latest Nvidia drivers and 1.1 patch but I can't play Crysis 2 in a normal fashion. What to do?

I had an issue like that, I don't think its a problem with the GPU but more the game itself using 100% CPU. It happened to me, try to leave the Task Manager in the background when you play and alt+tab when this happens to see if this is the problem.

Hope this helps to understand...but I haven't figured out how to solve that.

BTW. Config:
- i7 920 @ 3.9GHz
- GTX 260 SC SLI
- 6Gb DDR3
- Screen Res: 1920x1080

I play with the following

intel i7 core 869 @ 2.8ghz
radeon hd5750 1gb
8gb of ram
at a screen res of 1680x1050

I was able to play at max resolution on very high with no trouble the first few days, but randomly my fps will drop considerabley and the only way to solve it (temporarily) is by rebooting.

You're not alone, I'm in the same boat. I have a EVGA GTX 285, 4 GB Ram, E8400 3.0 ghz cpu. This is a problem with the game and/or driver conflict with our videocards.

Similar problem here I think.

When I first start the game after reboot works fine no matter how long I play. But if I lets say close the game and then launch the game again it starts to use my CPU up to 100% and the frames lag by about 20 or something. It loves to just drop the gpu usage for some reason.

Dont know what it is but it needs to be sorted.

Ati 4870x2
8gb ram

Thx for the replies. Good to know I'm not alone. There is some hope for our PC's then, because Crytek and Nvidia or ATI have to resolve this issue! It is unplayable now.

Continuing from what i posted above all other games work fine this is the only one which it switches from gpu usage to cpu 100% usage and makes the game unplayable.

This happens under both crossfire and with crossfire disabled under all drivers i have tried frm 10.5 to 11.4 with latest crossfire profiles. Its clearly a game issue. Also tried radeonpro profiles they work once but if you restart the game again it again switches to cpu mode.

I have shift 2 on the way this week should get it mid week and i think that should have more chance of working seen as they are using the same graphics engine and there is already a crossfire profile.

I just hope that the patch 1.2 doesnt just fix the flicker issue and leaves this out then again I hope they fix all issues because we PC gamers are getting shafted recently.
