Performance of the PS3 retail version

Post » Thu Oct 30, 2008 3:29 pm

I live in Europe so we have to wait a couple of days before the game is released, so now i ask you lucky US people who have had your hands on the PS3 retail version of this game: How is it performing on the PlayStation?

I am very interested in the framerate:
What framerate would you say this game runs at in the multiplayer part?
Is it running at a stable framerate, or does it drop significantly at some points?

Also, in the demo, everything got blurred when you moved quickly, how is that in the retail version?

The PS3 version of Crysis 2 has particular idiosyncracies. After playing both console versions, and playing through the same set of levels multiple times on both consoles, it became clear to a number of editors at IGN that the PS3 version is lacking somewhat in comparison to the 360 version of the game. The game still looks great on PS3, but the framerate is less consistent, the resolution is lower (in the neighborhood of 10% lower than the Xbox 360 release), and certain graphical effects and some lighting appear dialed back. In layman's terms, there are more jagged edges in the PS3 version of the game, and things get choppy more often than its 360 counterpart, which hurts controller response. The 360 is not immune to this, it just doesn't happen as often.

I just completed the game on Super Soldier setting. I received the game 40 hours ago, as it was launched in South Korea on the 21st March. And since South Korea is way ahead in time zone we received it the first and Japan as well.

Theres no significant frame rate issue. And what you seen in the Demo is nothing compared to the retail version. I bought 2 copies because I wanted to play PS3 for multiplayer and PC for single. But since the PS3 servers has no one for now, I end up playing the PS3 version first and just now boot up the PC version. Everything looks nearly similar but of course PC has smoother edges, and better AA, but this is unnoticed when you play the game. The only difference you can tell is when you stop the screen side by side.

Well done Crytek for making the best game since HL and HL2. I'm impressed with the single player story. I missed playing single player games and this is a must play. The story, gameplay and graphics are amazing. You never want it to end or afraid it will end too soon, but when you get to the end its like coming out from a movie and perfect. No more and no less.

Those who don't believe I have completed this game, feel free to add me on psn. My psn id is HARDEDDIE and you can see the time stamp on the trophy.

My total gameplay on Super Soldier is 11hrs 24 mins 1 sec

Go Prophet oh I mean Alcatraz :)

So far everything is working great and the only time i notice any framerate issues is when the game auto saves but that doesn't bother me at all as it only happens once in a while, for only half a second.

The 360 and the ps3 version are the same and all you need to do to the ps3 version of the game is reduce the in game brightness and the are at the same level. so when you get the chance pick it up and have fun. I must say it a must have for single player and multiplayer its soo epic :D!

Game ran great for me. No noticeable issues other than minor bugs here and there with AI and pathing. I'm rather pleased with my investment in this game.
