28 perk glitch

Post » Fri Jun 11, 2010 8:26 pm

I hate not saving Ringo, but I have enjoyed using this glitch to get my character a couple of extra perks. I normally don't go over 8 or 10, but this allows me to pick up toughness without sacrificing the other great perks. From a roleplay standpoint I have reasoned that my character kills ringo in his sleep and then ambushes Joe cobb's gang while they are standing about...sacrifice one to save a town i suppose.

Anyone else use this glitch, if so how far do you take it?

I sat through a few hours of clicking to achieve some 20+ perks, and it does truly make you a Wasteland God.

You also get several thousand 9mm clips and leather armor. If you're willing to waste some more time (and perhaps if you've picked up Jury Rigging, but maybe otherwise), you can repair the leather armor Chet gives you. It cuts down the sheer number and increases the price/unit. I store these in Victor's shack, and if I ever need to sell useless crap for caps, I just go to the shack, pick up a few pieces of armor, head to Gun Runners and trade them in for caps or goods.

I did this as well, and it felt way overpowered (my character that is). So, i tried it going to level 6/8 to just get a couple of extra perks. I like doing it this way as your character starts out with some skill, as I would imagine most people would, rather than being some level 1 weakling, with Fo3 you were fresh out of the vault as a child...here in NV you had a career and got shot.

Yes, but in the head. Twice. That could seriously hamper your skills, no?

But yeah, it's definitely overpowering. I might do it in future playthroughs, but just to get a few extra perks.

as i typed that, i considered the hampering two bullets to the head would have, but then considered it would either leave him brain damaged or nothing at all...if he was partially brain damaged wouldn't we see ill effects from that throughout the game such as crippling headaches. Anyway, yes I agree the main reason i do this is there are about 16-17 perks I want and the leveling system only allows for 15...and since i am ps3 the level cap increase won't reach me for o, about another year if that.

Best Glitch in New Vegas in my opinion, I use it to get to LV 14 so that I don't have to waste all my points into Repair.

I did. I tried it out to level 16 but then deleted that save and made a new one at level 8. I'm on my 5th playthrough. If I go through again (and I will), I really don't want to start at level 1.

same here. Starting at 1 is just not the same after beating the game a few times.
