Re-Perk

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:13 pm

I play Skyrim on the 360, thus I do not have access to a console,
so I was wandering if there is some secret character you can go to, and reset all your perks for an X amount of gold?

If not, this might be a good addition for future DLC, it kinda svcks if you're halfway through the game and have picked... for example two-handed perks,
but want to switch to one-handed perks, this way you won't have to start the game all over again. PC gamers can just use the console to fiddle around, but we are stuck, just saying :P

But your skills won't match, why not just decide on what your character will be and stick to it or remake lol

Isn't there like a Gameshark or something for consoles that let you cheat?

Or will they get you banned on XBL/PSN?

I remember back in the PSX days they had something like that.

Just start a new game, or not.. theres no need for a 'perfect build' in a game like this.. you can change how you play at the drop of a hat if you want to.. or not.

There is. His name is M'aiq the Liar and you need to bring him 50 callipers in order to do so. :whistling:

I don't even think they make them for the new consoles anymore. I haven't seen one of those in years, since the Super NES days....lol

I know, but you only get a limited amount of perks (as I understand it, you won't get any more perks if you hit 50).

Love M'aiq  I have only encountered him once though, near the college of Winterhold in the wilderness ^_^

Live with your decisions.

Just because PC users can use the console to cheat doesn't mean that everyone does. If I think about how cool it would be to play a different character type, then I start a new character.

They removed the 50 limit, it's 81 now same as the level cap.

That's not a joke BTW!.. M'aiq letting you re-perk was though. :P

If you don't like your character choices, then make a new character.

Yes there is. Using the PC console on your 360.
Your PC does not have to be a high-end machine, all it needs to do is be able to launch Skyrim.
So you need two original versions of Skyrim. One 360 and one PC.
When you have those you can "savegame.DAT" mod the 360 version, using a regular USB pen and some software.

I really hope they never add such a functionality. You go to the city, get the perks for speech, smithing, enchanting, alchemy... get ton of gold, then get your combat perks up totally removing perks that are useless in dungeons... game breaking.

Stick to what you got, if you need to experiment use quick saves... if you really mess up start a new character but keep in mind that this is a single player game, you don't have to worry about min-maxing, take what looks fun to you.

So basically BGS made it so that no starter choices matters anymore (classes are history), and now not even that is enough?
Make a new character, no biggie. Just time consuming. If you're playing this game you already have time to spare anyhow :) Should you mess up on the build, you can always adjust the difficulty to match. I had to restart mine (playing on highest difficulty) because I wasn't focused enough with my skill developing.

Even if I have console commands available on my PC version I never use them for cheating purposes. You bought the game, play it.

Cause I too want to Re Perk and after having found him he offers me no such thing.

Not that i don't agree with you, but is that really any different than finding a mudcrab or pack of wolves and letting them pound you till you rank up?

Face it, there are so many exploits/abuse/methods to ranking up skills with limited work, why would this matter?

I know it won't happen, but id like it. After about 40 hours i realized i didn't like the mage playstyle and went warrior. That is 40 hours and around 12-15 perks i wasted that i can't get back without starting over, which i definitely won't do.

There's a slight difference... having something beat you until you get tougher can be the way to go ;) role-play...

I could accept something like Fallout:New Vegas where you had a one-time-only re-perk. You pretty much visited an NPC who told you you can reset your perks but it's one time only so if you really messed up you can fix it but you can't abuse the system.
After all I do agree that when you're low level and starting the game you can't really know what you'll use in the future, so when you get to level 50-60 you can respecialize...

You still wouldn't have any of the skills though.

This would be handy, particularly for new folks who might make the odd mistake on levelling. Titan quest had a good system where you could remove a single point at a time and each one got more and more expensive. You'd be able to let people correct low level/new to game errors for a price but a full on respec would cost an utter fortune.

Saying "just make a new character" is a *bit* of a chore in a 300 hour game! It's this very reason why my first character had about 5-7 perks unspent and saved for days until I could get my head around the mechanics better. Yeah, I could have console fixed it, but I'd really rather not. I mean, I'm glad I saved them but it made those early days overly difficult.

I really don't see that giving people choices is that bad a thing.

I would like this option just once, like if they gave you a respec token to use at any point, or drop if you didn't want it.

I royally ballsed my character up with some terrible choices and I'll have a jack of many trades but master of NONE as a result. I have 55 hours logged and starting again is just not something I wish to do.

Brilliant game and my enjoyment is not marred one bit by my bad choices, but a get out if jail free once card would be sweeeeet!

Edit: I should also add that if, *IF* balance changes are made as a result of patches then it is only fair that reperking is an option - pulling the rug out from peoples feet is not cricket.
