To the topic: With all the new information release regarding perk trees, race presets and abilities, and additional info provided related to a PC build.
We now see that the perk system allows for an extreme customization in regard to the weapon you apply your allegiance to. Not only with damage multipliers and critical increase we see some truly unique skills both active and passive. The standing stones seem to be your birth sign that you can have active that will most help your overall archtype ie warrior mage thief. Or an odder birth sign that overall can be called under one of the main archtype with additional +/_ effects. ex:The atronach to mage as is the serpent is to thief. Then your race. You have your lore and with all lore there is your typical and stereotypes. Your Altmer will be your mages your orcs your warriors and your bosmer your thief, all based of your preset bonus to skills and abilities of the race. All of this for the most part is completely and literally in our hands. We chose to be a bosmer pick up our bow, over time find us a standing stone of the thief to just fill the example pick us some ingredients along the way to mix some potions, creep around your corner with a silent roll before your slow time as you 30% more quickly draw your bow and take out your opponent from across the room, then another dash to a 15x stealth kill with a dagger...i hope you get kinda a idea.
We also know a couple factors to the PC build that we cannot control. health staminia magic start at 100pts for all characters regardless of race. all skills can be lvled to 100. you have 50 perk points to take of a total estimated 180ish perks. all a dovahkiin so have the abilites to use shouts. and this you have some choice to use again what is helps your build but i feel that there use will have a neutral feel for all class as a main story aspect should.
Now after my intro would like to say thank you BGS. With all the things you have streamlined weather it is hiding intelligence under magika or throwing a perk for h2h under 2h ect ect ect i think it will work perfect.
And this thread is half a praise half a complaint.
The biggest aspect of your fine tune customization is the perks and you can only select 50. This sounds like a iron two sided blade. pun intended. We are able to specialize but very specifically, with some perks being rank and some of the greater benefits from a perk tree ie 15x damage slow time or run silently while crouching. this or that i can see you devoting about 10 perks to each skill building your character around only 5 skills. yes you can save your perk points spend your stat point or save them as well and have your own hardcoe more. turn off that hud and quest markers as well and it only continues to get hardcoe. avoid to expand your perks then sacrifice some to broaden your build. maybe 7 skills forfeiting some larger Master lvl bonus due to the lvl requirement and perk requirements. This formula makes for an excellent PC build for Immersion which from the beginning this has been BGS mission statement with TES V. You pick out your most beneficial perks for your archtype and his/her tool for the trade, and the support perks to match supporting skills. 1 perk tree for weapon one for armor 3 to 5 supporting skills. And then add in the creation engine that will tailor your experience based on this build i am truly impressed. very impressed.
Now this is the only completely silly complaint that i have every had with any of BGS games and in the end i'm sure i will be proved wrong.
You can make all skills at lvl 100 and be a master but gone are your days for there rewards for doing so cause your chose your rewards via perks now. yes you can be an archer thief with 100 destruction but because of the perks and your build you may have chose to pass on some of the consumption reductions or dual casting or specialty vaporizing perks to increase your bow speed damage range zoom etc. Now don't misinterpret me this is not my complaint. an archer should't be a mage that's why they are called archers yes they can use magic but in no way should they be double rewarded for being the master spell bow. unless that's your build within the 50 perks. Now this is my complaint and i'm sure by the end i will be proved wrong cause i have never had a complaint about any BGS product. But with this level immersion pat on the back aside. i fear that this may not intentionally be true but it may force the hand or replayability. for the good of course. but what i fear is some of the quest related for ex: if the thief guild has some skill lvl requirements before acceptance to the guild or to continue the storyline of said guild. this is not such a bad thing also adds to immersion the old complaint that the gray cowl wouldnt really secretly be the archmage of the archane university. but here lies the problem with this level of immersion. this game can take 30 to 300 hrs to "complete" (haha a TES game i dont think so add another zero(s)). jokes aside does this turn into a 100 hr per playthru game to see all content not have that fabled complete save file. i will have no choice but to start my example archer over to fully experience the true warrior inside despite the possibility of mastering all skills the game has to offer and using my 50 perks to make that my over powered identity in my first playthru. its hard to dedicate a 100 hrs to a game for most consumers let alone 100 hrs to a character to roleplay with. but all that aside this is truly a minor complaint not looking for a war to start over this all i have to point out its all fairly positivo and i highly doubt that one guild or specialization will completely lock you out quest content and the most positive way i look at my own complaint is the fact that if it is 100 hr plus per PC this game will headline my shelf longer than oblivion and its prior 2 burnt out replacement and will far exceed the replays and replays and replays from the last five years.
