Perks in Skyrim?

Post » Thu Jun 24, 2010 6:06 am

So do you guys want to see perks in Skyrim? Personally, I'd love to see them. I think they were a great addition to Fallout 3's gameplay and I feel they would work well in the Elder Scrolls.

Perks was a nice feature indeed and makes every play through a lil more unique :) So I voted Yes. Aslong as the perks are fun though and not all about stats increasing.

Yes, of course. Though I don't want it implemented the same way it was in Fallout.

I'd say no. In my opinion, they are more meant for Fallout than the TES series. That's just my opinion.

I think perks are much like the racial features and birth signs that are already in the game. And I think it's fine to keep it that way.

I would rather see a advantage/disadvantage system. Like taking a negative perk to take a positive perk. I see so many possibilites with something like that.
But if not that, then some sort of perk system would be pretty cool, though I won't be upset if I don't see it.

I voted yes, but I want them to be unlocked like they were in Oblivion and not like in Fallout.

Oh, let me slit my wrists!!

This. Is. Not. Fallout. 4.

Now run along and make your inevitable "Should we have Super Mutant Behemoths in Skyrim?" thread...

They weren't an 'addition' to fallout 3's gameplay, they are a staple of Fallout gameplay that have been present since the first game.

Just because Bethesda made Fallout 3 doesn't mean I expect to see any cross-polynation in terms of the leveling and skill system. I think they're best off kept as separate as possible, there are enough similarities already.

I'd like them or something similar but like others have said implemented in a different way. Like people have to teach you them or something.

But it is just a mere gameplay feature, how do one connect it to a certain game? Sure if the question was if Tes V were to implent the Vats system then I would understand the point of view. Perks however, at least in my opinion, could be elderscrollsnized pretty smoothly. :)

I think that there should be perks, but clearly the system in Oblivion wasn't as fun as it looked on paper. I would like if there were multiple ways to learn perks (sort of how you can get perks in New Vegas just by doing actions, like killing insects), such as reading a rare book, learning from a wise master, hitting a certain attribute threshold (like 70 strength + 70 agility or some such combination of attributes or skills).

They were in TES IV:Oblivion...

Not sure why we'd need to mess with'em for TES V, since the mechanic already exists, nor why we'd need to "Fallout-ize" them.

Perks wouldnt be such a bad idea... But its all about the implementation. Not completely like Fallout did it. Someone said before a advantage/disadvantage thing:
"The Berserker!:
Enemies do 50% more damage on you and you do 50% more damage on them!"
Or something like that.

We already get perks for our birth sign, race, class, etc. I personally vote no mainly because the perks system really was built for Fallout. If Bethesda comes up with a way of applying it to TES where it doesn't hinder the progression experience, sure.

I'd love to see a system similar to the perks system. The idea of slowly and incrementally improving my character in unique and powerful ways is an intriguing one, definitely. They'd just have to revamp the aesthetics and implementation so that it provides the same benefits while still feeling like a natural part of the universe.

If by perks you mean like the perks in Oblivion (ie the sword skills, acrobatic skills, shield skills, etc.) then yes

If by perks you mean Fallout 3/F:NV then no

Oh, the OP definitely means Fallout 3:

Obviously ignoring the existing TES IV perk system, and off on yet another "Let's merge TES and Fallout" binge.

I voted no, simply because perks were made for the Fallout series, not for TES
