Permanent Paralysis

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 6:32 pm

I was sleeping in my house when I was attacked by two DB assassins. They both had swords with some kind of paralyze effect on them, and they both proceeded to stab me repeatedly. I turned on God mode, because screw that, and now I'm frozen forever. I can move around in the menus and stuff, but I can't move my character. I can't draw my weapon, can't switch view perspectives, use magic, or anything like that. What's up with that and how do I fix it? Did I ruin my game by not just dieing and loading like everyone else? I play on Steam, if that makes a difference (no disc).

Thanks.

Find the spell ID and delete it with the console.

Make sure God Mode is off.
Then use player->RemoveEffects, 45

FYI, set a Mark (with a spell or potion) somewhere safe, like a temple where you can heal yourself. Don’t sleep where you set the mark. If you get into trouble cast Recall or take a Recall potion (much quicker) and escape to safety. I never die, so speak for yourself. :wink_smile:

You said you were sleeping. Unless you turned it off, the game usually saves right before you fall asleep. Just reload and you should be fine.

That would be a great idea. However, I decided that it would be a good idea to try to rest, and see if I could move after I woke up.

In case you were wondering, that was not a good idea.

Make sure God Mode is off.
Then use player->RemoveEffects, 45

This didn't do anything. I'm pretty sure I'm hosed. I do have a save from a while ago that I can load, though. So all is not lost.
