permanent updates?

Alright, so I wanted to play a game of New Vegas, and I wanted to play it with all the money making glitches, duplicating glitches and all that good stuff. So I went to my hard drive, and I clear out my hard drive cache. When i started up my New Vegas though, it didn't pop up a message to ask me if i wanted to update to the latest version of the game. I was wondering about that, and when I did the glitch you can do earliest in the game the unlimited leather armor glitch with Chet, it didn't work... i am puzzled and am wondering if they made it so that you can't clear out your hard drive cache to play with glitches??

very thankful for all the posts in advance. :)

are you playing on a PC? anyway on the xbox i went to the game folder, there is a subfolder containg the updates. it must similiar on other systems. clearing out the game cache doesn't remove the update subfolder.

If you want to glitches, you will have to delete the actual updates in your hard drive. If you do this you WILL lose any DLC progress and items because you need the updates to play them so keep that in mind if you have other save files with DLC items or Don't want to do the DLC again if you already completed it. Btw what console are you on I did all this on 360.
