My Personal Charecter Dilema

Post » Tue Oct 04, 2011 11:54 am

Ok guys, so we all know there are 10 playable races, all of which look great and have a bonus or two, my problem is this,

I'm English and for SOME reason I think Imperials have a slight English higherarchy to them, also my first TES was Oblivion and It was natural for me to "play my self" in some senses so I picked an Imperial and named him after me.

The problem is this however, I do like imperials yet I question there usefulness in Skyrim. Nords seem to be the "common" people of the land and I always like to start my first play through as a regular sort of person. Nords are also great warriors, similar to my play style HOWEVER... I did not like them in the slightest in Olbiivon and I think why should I change now. On the otherhand imperials special perk seems rather lousy and nords seem stronger.

On top of all this theres the height difference, I like to play a medium-small character and nords are going to be quite tall from what I have heard.

So tell me, what do you think I should be? Nord, Imperial, or do you have a better suggestion ? :D

You say all this like one character is all you will ever be allowed to play.

Just play Imperial. If they were not a viable option then they wouldn't be in the game.

Yes but will they fit in considering the large proportion of people are nords, I sort of wan't the classic dragon born feel yet I also want to stick to my roots. Gah.

The answer is glaring you in the face: Nord. The Nordic people are the closest race to your average everyday earth human. However, you may consider the fact that I am heavily biased towards the Nord race before considering my opinion.

Then play a short Nord that's a pansy. ;)

Seriously if the other 9 races didn't fit the game they wouldn't be there.

Personally, I plan on playing a Nord because it is Skyrim, but then I don't have a problem playing big brutes. I'm then going to play the other 9 races through out the years I play Skyrim.

don't judge a nord by its cover ;)

they are hardly barbaric, rougher and tougher than imperials yes but not hulking big brutes

meet tobias for example, a fine example of a classy nord

Your character is only what you decide to make him into. Besides people (us) were barbaric before we had technological advancement to increase our sophistication. The barbarbianism is only a stereotype of the Nordic people.

Bretons seem closer to English than Imperials. Personally, I'm playing a nord.

Flip a coin. Nords, and Imperials look pretty much the same anyway. Its like choosing between an orange, and a tangerine.

What is good about Bretons though? I've never really "got" them, there one of them races that just never appeal to me. But hey never read into them are they good at anything??

You'd have a bigger dilemma if you're 1/2 English and 1/2 Scotish...like me :P

I would suggest playing whichever you feel like after testing each one. Though as stated the most human ones are Nords, Redguard, Imperials and Bretons.
