Most people seem to not get that this will be a competitive game in both PVE and PVP. They can persuade themselves that it is not, but it is, by definition. Some even think that this experience will be similar to TES.
So, this guy, by speed-running/powerleveling will be richer, more powerful in the battlefield, with better progress, in a better guild, more crafting professions, more "prestige" (titles, achievements) etc. Also, the sooner you max-out the fastest it will be to gather everything in the game, even if you have to return to the same locations.
So this will give him the pleasure he will have lost by taking it slow - maybe more.
Personally I like to play my TES with slower leveling mods, realism mods, difficulty mods, every kind of masochistic mod and in general take it slow.
However in ESO, I will get add-ons to make the game easier, with skyshard/lorebook locations and other various add-ons.
Essentially, the reason people powerlevel is the same as the reason a lot of people will shun the OP for wanting to powerlevel. They both know this game is competitive, but the latter don't exactly want to admit it and they don't want others to do it, because deep down they know it.
I think this explains things.
Main reason i will power level at least past the first and second zone is just in case the questing bugs were actually caused by phasing . I dont want to deal with bugged quests again I know zenimax said they fixed all quests but i am not taking chances .
Wasn't the reason I believe, most were caused due to spawning bugs. hopefully most are fixed by now.
Good luck on your quest sirs. I hope that along the way you guys / galls stop by the official forums from time to time and pass along some of your thoughts on how things are going for your group.
Although this is not my preferred style of play I wish you speed and luck.
That's a bit, well, nonsense really. Sorry.
Everything in life can be competitive, if you choose to make it competitive. You can choose to compete for better job, prettier wife, finer clothes, faster car. You can race to work on a public road, stand in line to get the first iPhone, post the most messages on a forum or be the first one to reach level 50 in a game.
Or you can choose not to. And most people choose not to when in their opinion the rewards are less than the sacrifice or when they don't care about those rewards. The people who don't understand the powerleveling race to level 50 for pure bragging rights simply think that the rewards (the bragging rights) are not important enough for the investment and loss (missing on game's content, lost time, being viewed as a [censored] by other players, etc).
And even if you offered me a free copy of the Imperial Edition with a ready-made level 50 character, I'd refuse. I actually want to play the entire game, not to brag about how I "beat it".
.... which had to do with the phasing and the load of people in the area.... so ya the guy was right that did cause the bug that you are trying to describe.
Personally i don't give a damn about bragging rights i just want to get it over with. I don't really like questing or dealing with the majority of the idiots that you run into doing the questing and i am more of a grinder and i know the xp has been tuned to be on par with questing which isn't an issue. It sounds like you don't understand "powerleveling" as you call it. I really dont see why most of the poster here feel the need to formulate an opion on what the OP has stated, he has been very nice in reply to some of your not so nice replies, why not just let the guy play the game the way he wants to and Please continue, my good sir. (<<<< not at all what i said lol)
o and have a nice day
Yep. I want to role-play a powerful sorcerer that goes lone-wolf in Cyrodiil, and cares little for the war effort. I can't do that if I'm a measly level 10 whom does not stand a remote chance against handicapped matches while by myself now can I?
50 is not max level. The current end game in ESO is Cyrodiil PvP, which you can do for years at the same level. Many people want to, and will, speed level to 50 and stay in Cyrodiil for the rest of the game.
Also, I don't understand the counter arguments in every thread about "missing content". What content do you think people are missing? ZOS has set this game up to where you have to do most of the quests in order to level and get skill points. Just because some people are able to play faster, doesn't mean they are missing anything. Once you read the dialog from the first couple of quests, every quest after that is pretty much the same thing. After a while, all quests start to look the same anyway with "go talk to this guy and come back, now go fight 5 of these mobs and come back, now go kill this guy.... quest completed".
^^ This.
Just because people are speed leveling doesn't mean they are missing ANY content whatsoever. Good post.
Sorry but what is point to speed lvl to vl 50 just to come on forum when are lvl 50 whine that the are no end game content when Zenimax have made it clear the have not add all end game contnet to game yet serious why is point to waste money on game that you just stop play after your free 30 days for i don't think you go to sit around at lvl 50 to wait for other. Beside good lucky with it you clearly don't have life if you are ready to spend 14-16 hours a day to speed lvl and beside it not healthy to spend that much time without breaks
Exactly my thoughts too. I don't care about leveling in video games. I get the most enjoyment when I can take it slow and casual AFTER all my favorite powers are unlocked, and I feel safe by myself completely independent from "needing" help from other people. I cannot do that if I'm limited at level 10 with a shallow list of spells at my disposal to enjoy. It's also suicide to explore Cyrodiil completely alone at level 10 - 25. At level 30+ you have access to virtually all the powers in your classes, and good gear and enchantments. So you have more options for survival if your are double-teamed or even triple-teamed. Where as a level 10 character is dead-meat by him/herself
Same thing with the single-player games. Skyrim being the best example. I would get high-level fast, but I never made my character OP. I always kept myself balanced and took the game very slow. But I had all my powers at 100 and could enjoy the power that I earned quick with determination, at my own slow pace.
There is more than one way to role-play.
There's a lot of people hating because I made this post about putting a lot of hours in reaching the cap in levels and skills in order to persue better gear and such faster. I play games for fun, fun for me is the competative side of things. There will probably be thousands of players reaching 50 within the first 7 days from release.
I will not miss any content, i simply chose to ignore them while i strive towards my goals with this game. A few people here posted some really good posts about why players wish to level fast. I simply want to enjoy the best that the game has to offer, and that's based on my own opinion and view of the game.
Personally i never liked the Elder Scrolls games before, single player is not my style. I dont like it. It is that simple.
I like MMORPGs because I am a competative players and like to play with or against other players. To se who is best, who got the best gear, who makes the best progress in PvE or PvP etc. That for me is what I enjoy.
This post was simply to find someone, with the same view of the game. So we could share experiences, and enjoy the game like we want to.
Some like the slow pace, some dont have time to play 14 hours a day. Some can only play 4 hours every other day... fine. But I don't see the reason for people to hate on others because they view something differently.
For me, the "content" or the "majority" of the game... is not the "content" for me. Its not what i'm looking for in this bag of goodies. You might want the 3 course dinner, sure.. But im hungry and want the main course with a little desert afterwards.
Anyhow, a few people messaged me, thanks for that. I found my player after all!
I wish you all a good and rich experience with ESO.
I can only speak for myself on this and I am probably considered a slacker when it comes to power-leveling for the most part. The reason I rush to max level is because I don't really want to play a single player game. All the time running around solo is just a speed bump to get to the real game. The MMO part of it.
A Short Termer wants to PowerLevel to 50 Thread. Awesome.
lol why people are so mad with this guy, if he wants to lvl up faster let him do it, I still don't know whats the problem here.
Each person has their own way to play games, if he likes to rush the game then let him be.
Mad? Mad isn't the correct word.
But if you want an answer, the answer is, this is why very few mmo's persist anymore. People get in, power level to max, get bored, and quit. Where as with the 'introduction' to mmo's, people would spend months in a desert grinding for a cancel book and even Powerleveling to 50 would take at a minimum 3 months, and that's with Team Leveling no sleep and lots of mountain dew.
If people wanna powerlevel to max, get bored, then quit, it's nothing to get mad about...it's more of a 'Can I haz your stuff' thing.
And then we all wonder why it plays more like a single player.
Exactly, but you can't blame the power-leveler. You have to blame the people who cried so hard that the game gets turned into a fetch quest laden single player game. If the whole game was a challenge like it used to be the landscape would be totally different.
What I really see when I read most of the posts here is:
"Dang, we worked so hard to water down the MMO Genre to just a single player game, why would you possibly want to rush through all this gaming goodness just to do some challenging content. "
No the reason mmo's dont persist is because the games are dumbed down to where there is no challenge, the way this guy wants to play in no way affects you at all, hell it probably helps you out in the long run. If he is one of the first he is going to be hitting any bugs out there which he can report and hopefully by the time you get there they will be fixed. No the reason games seem to fail is because so many people complain they are too hard and they get dumbed down to nothing and people get bored. Your just pissy because you dont have the time, stamina or will power to level fast and babbling about missing content is bs, he can always roll an alt later if he wants to take the time to smell the roses. Its none of your business really, how he or anyone else chooses to play a game as long as they are not breaking any rules of the game.
Side note, hitting 50 is not hard i did it in 3 beta weekend sessions and i was still playing alts. So no you dont need to be a power leveler to hit 50 in a short time but after 50 is going to be the haul, xp jumps from 142k to hit 50 from 49 to 436k (if i remember right) to go from 50 to vr2.
